- Here is my repost of the story of "Pinocchio" from the Disneyland LP from 1960. Narrated by Jiminy Cricket. As you may know, Jiminy Cricket was played by Cliff Edwards as the narrator on the album.
The "Platinum Edition" Blu-Ray/DVD release of "Pinocchio" will also be going back to the Disney Vault starting April 30th. This is your last chance to own one of my all-time favorite Disney film until it goes away. Thankfully, I have it on DVD as well. So get it before it's gone, gone, gone, SOLID GONE!!!

Cliff Edwards had quite possibly the most beautiful singing voice I've ever heard.
I also had this record when I was young, but when I was 12, my father decided I was grown up and did not need any of my colection of records any more so he gave them all away when I was out for the week end. I was devistated as I am blind and music and stories mean so much to me. When I heard this again I cried. THANKS!
I'm so sorry to hear your story of your father selling your record, that is devastating. Listening to this broke me down in tears. I was neglected as a child and because of it I have very few happy childhood memories. This record as a child made me feel so happy. I felt the love from Jeppetto and the Cricket and I had comfort. I was 6 years old.
Thank you for this post! I cherished this record I received on Christmas from my dad when I was 6. Dad had first attended the film with his mother at the Forest Hills Theater in Queens, NY in 1940 and I still have the Random House book that contained the entire story adaptation (which included unused scenes and cel reproductions) from which the final film was drawn. It was given to all children at the premiere. When I saw it for the 1st time with Dad, I loved so much.
I used to have on this on tape as a kid until it chewed up this audio tape brings back so many memories.
I had all the Disney read along cassettes this brings back childhood memories
This was an experience that I cherished so much with my father; we each saw it as children of about the same age and it a love we shared. As I grew older I found I had an even greater appreciation for the film as I began to understand many of the story's darker and disturbingly scary element as well as its tongue-and-cheek humor. I will always love this film and be reminded of my dad, who was such a wonderful and loving father. I am always proud of him.
“Pinocchio” always makes me think of my grandparents in Glasgow, KY where my mother grew up because my MiMi bought a VHS of the film for us to watch whenever we drove up for a visit. Sad that they are both gone but their legacies live on. Mimi died in 1996 after a courageous battle with breast cancer and Papa died in 2004 from natural causes.
I used to own this too I loved the Disney read-alongs growing up
I used to have this record when I was a kid, Chris. I can't believe you have a copy.

I fell asleep to this with my dad. He passed away since and its so deep hearing this again. Its sweet. Like a bitter sweet but i do remember this adventure.
