When my son was 18 months old my wife was in the basement doing laundry and I was at work. He was in one of those walkers. She didn’t notice that she left the basement door open and he tumbled right down 11 wooden steps to a concrete floor. The Walker tumbled and did a 360 hit in the middle of the staircase and landed on its feet on the cement floor. My son bounced out and hit his head on the concrete. Took me two hours to get to the hospital. They kept him overnight because they thought they saw a slight fracture. Turned out he was OK. Longest two hours of my life though.
That is terrifying! I am glad he is ok. When my daughter was 1 I was carrying her to the car and it was dark and I tripped on a concrete bumper in a parking spot, and I fell forward with the baby. It happened so fast but it felt like time slowed down. I squeezed her close to me, my hand on the back of her head, bent my legs and landed on my knees and right elbow. Her head didn’t even touch the ground. Thank God she was unharmed, but I replay that experience in my head every time I carry her somewhere outside. I am glad your son is okay.

My mum had a great mix of coddling and "You're fine". When I was a kid on the monkey bars I tried to swing and grab the next one, I misjudged and did a full bellyflop in the sand. I was winded and had sand in my mouth. My mum came and washed the sand from my face then went "Alright, go on, get back up there"
