Very well edited video which provides the perfect balance between being informative and entertaining. Good that there is such a strong market for new and pre-owned EVs, despite what is regularly claimed in the media.
@@philiplindley7384 i have to disagree , 10 years ago i was buying ex lease , early returned cars ( small 1.0 ltr petrol to convert to LPG) so it's not a 'new' thing at auctions
It makes it easier for him to fudge the selling price. Him flashing up a photoshopped £28k sale price wouldn't look so good if the audio revealed that the hammer went down at 10 grand. Go to an auction yourself, and you'll see what these things really sell for.
New, used? Is there much point in this comparison? I imagine that they're all going to be very small cars. E-up/citigo/Mii etc. What would be the basis for comparison other than miles/kWh? Purchase price? Range? Features? Luggage space? Maybe there is a point after all? I seem to have convinced myself..😂
Next year will be interesting when the BYD seagull hits the UK market. The value of EVs depreciate too much, and, as such, they are not viable as a mode of transport. However, if the electric seagull enters the UK around £14000 then this may be a viable proposition as over a 10-year period, it would stand you at £1400 per annum. The current cost of EVs and the depreciation of such vehicles do not make them net zero vehicles.
I know a local businessman who used his company to buy an EV, and claim back the VAT. He uses it for personal use, which puts it under 'benefit in kind' rules..which is zero rated for EV's :-)
Thanks John excellent video very informative and interesting. I am considering purchasing a used high end EV. I can’t decide whether to purchase now as you say a good time to purchase because dealers don’t buy stock or wait until April when my current lease car is returned? Any advice appreciated.
Hi Jonathan, I cant seem to find many EV’s up for auction over the next couple of weeks at Shoreham. Can you advise wjen the next auction with A reasonable number of EV’s is likely to be ?
Another great video Jp 👏🏼 can we have Nissan ariva 22 plate cheapest please and Kia eniro 3 23 plate new plate and 23 plate mg zs trophy 👏🏼👍🏼long range
Now now Jonathan I have an Ix and I think they look great. As to it looking like a beaver I'm sure there are some jokes to be has about how attractive they are.

Hi mate is there any reason why BCA won't allow you to do videos (I know what happened previously) as there's several traditional car sales sites I watch do videos all the time? Cheers for this video
Those recording BCA sales will get 'caught' and accounts suspended, crazy but true. I suppose the 'small' youtubers may get away with it for longer , i know 'shifting metal' had their bca account suspended for recordings of bca sales !
@ yep it was SMetal I saw recording by another used salesman who was doing his own video at the time was quite funny seeing two UA-camrs in the main selling area at BCA but made me angry because you wasn’t actually there hampering actual buying 🥲
I wouldn’t touch the auctions for EV’s at these prices, dealer margins will be minute, that’s if there is any profit at all. I’ll buy the car from the dealer after they’ve done all the prep and if there is anything wrong with it I can return it for a full refund.
You are adsolutly correct . Auctions are Manipulative and Corrupt , taking nonexistant bids , fictious internet bids ect. I was group disposal manager for many years. As for CAP which this man drools over...have no time for it.
Land Rover also used a similar shade of metallic grey but after protestations from the good people of Stornoway about dull and depressing Stornaway Grey JLR renamed the colour to…………… Orkney Grey which had a hint of sunshine in it but was just dull and boring! BTW I doubt many die hard Range Rover fans would change to an EV9 - EV9 has zero off-road ablity and you would be surprised how many RR owners do take theirs into the wilds. I’ve owned 7 of them (both RR and RR Sport ) and they are brilliant offroad even on the factory sumner tyres but All Terrains are better!
I don't know who Jonathan thinks he's fooling, but this is rubbish. Go to an auction in person, and you'll see endless EVs crossing the block without a single bid. The few that do sell, go for well below bottom book. Nobody wants these things. Too risky. One fault within 6 months, and you're on the hook for thousands.
How so? I have has a eGolf for several years now and it's great. I get free charging at my flat and at prime parking spaces in the city. When I do use a paid for charger it costs me about 1/3 as much as refilling the same model gasoline engine would for the same distance.
Some people use pricing as value, Tesla hater would like to use old pricing to compare, but people in auction will compare with the real updated pricing, the value is always there.

This is something you never used to see in auctions, years ago, practically brand new cars going under the hammer - times change.

When the calendar rolls over to 2025 the car is suddenly a year older in public perception so no surprise that the lease companies can't hold out.
I like the format with you talking and no feed from the auctioneer.
Thank you , thats what many have said , so i try and keep it understandable, with some humour thrown in 😉👍

hi JP, would u consider making a video on the top 5 most efficent EV's? You seem to know your onions about them!
Ohh good idea 💡 👌 👏

Contacted Shoreham, they don't include a battery test certificate, which is a shame
Can Shoreham arrange delivery?
Yes they can arrange delivery via a 3rd party.
@JonathanPorterfield thank you
Super content. Keeping my eye on the used EV market. Some good bargains, but depreciation not showing the rumored death of the Ev 😆
Thanks for watching and your comments 🙂
The MG are great value cars and super reliable.
Who said EV's depreciate ? That Kia only lost £20,000 in 7 months.
The lease company would NOT have paid list price !
That's nothing. A Porsche Taycan will lose £100K in 2.5 years.
The rear tyres on that EV9 are down to 3mm after just 9000 miles 😮
From the condition report, I would guess it has been used as a rally car !! More scuffs and scratches than my 8 y/o Kia Soul.

I cant believe that new shape m3 white interior went for 30700 plus fees, i would have paid £34k plus for that
It is normal the auction price is 3-4K of the market value, the profit margin still very limited after the gearing.

Stock list etc are updated every week , sometimes 1 or 2 weeks in advance.
Remember less cars go to auction in the run up to the end of the year
@ thank you, much appreciated. I am now thinking that I should try Eco cars to find a suitable vehicle?

Lol, a good laugh watching these mugs bid!
I would have thought the bidding would be going down with the depreciation lol!
Sir why most of the EV haven’t got Service history done on time ?
You mean , screen wash top up and change pollon filter, check brakes ?

These things are not viable for most people and out of warranty no
