- First episode of the new season, tackling hard survival mode. I'll show you how to start gaining strength STRAIGHT AWAY. I also go everywhere looking for rabbits, it sucks!
Gaining strength straight away:
Only eat one plane meal
Get meat straight away
Start cutting down trees immediately
Strength will start rising after 6
Aim for 13 on your first day, 5 each day after.
Eat 2-3 meats per day, use berries for hydration

your challenge now should be to conquer the whole forest, just chop down all trees, trap all cannibals, remove any land obstacle from your way
this way you didn't crash into the forest, the forest crashed into you

It's remarkable how much more precious the animals are in this mode. I never bothered chasing animals or cared when it rained. Now I actually find cover in rain and chase animals to hell and back. Love the series and happy to know I'm not the only one noticing the difference!

The Fertile Lands is no longer fertile in hard Survival Mode! For rabbits anyway...
Farket i told you mate animal spawns are painful be happy you found the deer i set a base in fertile lands I was on survival day 10 before I saw deer set up a dozen rabbit traps only caught 3 so far on day 40 now i have found to kill game on survival hard you HAVE to cover ground on a hunt spend a whole day if need be fish is the easy food on this mode other than turtles only 2 reliable sources.... i think your animal magnet would be Money in this situation i haven't tested this yet thou cheers on the vid keep em coming
Traps take AGES to give animals but they still work after 3-4 days 8^)

Animal magnet doesn’t work so well. I haven’t been able to get traps to work very well either.
You should try to get a Garden with Blue Berrys.thats the only way i survive in Hard Survival

thats really cool how you glued your feathers onto teh buttend of the axe. on mine one of teh feathers is actually sticking forward off teh edge. it works tho so i dont question it

I literally just started playing and I was watching your video to get an idea of how stuff works. How are you avoiding enemies for so long? Usually within 5 minutes of walking around I have 2 or 3 hovering around me and after another 5 minutes of being annoying they start to attack me. Then I die and get hung in a cave lol

I wish there was a Normal Survival mode. I just cannot handle the Hard mode cannibals but I sure would like to experience the harsher survival challenges.
+Brady Hight That’s a good point. They should have one for normal. Enemies hurt so much more in hard. Definitely the hardest aspect of it.

+James Russell It’s not too hard, it’s more adjusting to the difference. You become more conservative about resources, especially meat, water and booze. You’ll do fine.

Hard survival is definitely the most realistic mode you can play in I think.
OK, ive got 2 ideas/challenges for the new hard survival. 1 don't move your base just build there, it would be far more exiting :) 2: try to get the modern bow since its the hardest weapon to get. good luck

Food spoiling rate is one thing the devs need to revert for this mode. I believe fresh meat fills you more than edible now so its best to put fresh meat on a drying rack as soon as possible. But meat spoils so quickly now that sometimes you have to sprint back to camp after killing 1 or 2 animals to keep it fresh. They still have to nerf turtle spawns because they are an easy source of meat and birds need to fly away faster, forcing you to hunt them with small rocks and arrows. Also when playing with no hud item count and descriptions don't show when hovering over something in your inventory, will make it hard to see exactly how much of a certain item you have.

You're definitely playing a different better looking version of the game what's up with that? Your inventory for example looks different. Items in different areas.

I have played hard survival for several days now and i can say don't hope for rabbit and deer around the corner, use your red paint as much as possible and i don't understand why you turn off regrowing trees.I understand to make it hard but It is natural for trees to regrow. I found easy way to get meat, so many sea turtles :) BTW great job on this video almost forgot to write, keep it going.
Takes longer then one night to fully re-grow 10% trees lol. Its more for realism then difficulty i think.
Maybe set up rules like only have tree regrow on once every 10 days.

what would you say is the best place to build base? Im already at day 35 and I havent had a proper base yet simply because after a few days of logging I get simply swarmed by lots of cannibals, who prevents me from doing my work. Any ideas?

Fuck yeah for a new season! I don't know what it is but I can't play the forest anymore without serious FPS drop. No idea what's different? I used to be able to run maxed settings with max fps, now it doesn't matter what settings I use, I get serious fps spikes. I'm not going to bother playing the game at 20 fps.

Question(s): after 24hrs in game does your tree count go back to zero, or does it go -/+? Meaning if I f#&ked up and cut 4 trees one day, does that mean the next I have to cut enough to make up for it? Or counter to that, if I cut 13 on day 6 instead of 8, does that carry over?
I ask because at about day 9 I noticed my weight and strength on a massive downfall. It's like day 13 now on my current play through and I'm still dropping in weight and strength. The only time I let my player gain hunger is if he wakes up hungry. Otherwise he's eating large meat sources just before hunger flashing. I cut 13 trees day one and 8-10 after. I messed up once on day 6 though and over cut trees and got hungry longer than I'd like. But I've made sure to be consistent since and still seeing both drop rapidly. I'm back to 20.6 strength and it's confusing the hell out of me.
@Farket having played a lot of hard survival, do you find the amount and drastically raised HP of enemies turns combat tedious? It seems like such a big jump from normal (quite easy) to hard (even basic enemies feels like you are chopping down trees and fire does nothing anymore).
I'm torn between the two. I'm not sure if the game being too easy or tediousness will be harder to cope with in the long run (is it true that you canchange mode mid-game with cheatmenu? I'll have to check that out).
Really wish that there was some sort of middle-ground though - or just that harder difficulties focused more on making the enemies hit harder and be more aggressive rather than becoming damage-sponges. There isn't any difficulty mods yet are there? I had a quick look but couldn't see anything like that.
Anyway, great videos. I learned a lot from your tutorial/science vids and now I look forward to checking out your let's play :)
Try the no HUD challenge, turn off all gameplay settings that add anything similar looking too.

+Julian Dwuletzki Its called a stealth attack. You need to remain undetected and hit them. Usually an instant kill.
This is the music I'd listen to if i broke up with my partner but still had a cat to keep me company.

There is a glitch with basic fire and pots. Basically the pot can be empty and if u put it on a basic fire it will be filled wih water in a couple of mins.

yea just start hard survival mode to, the critters are scarce for sure, built on the cliffs above the fertile land and there has only been one raccoon.

i honestly regret starting this game mode im on day 24 and it is not easy getting equipment

+Nate The Great It’s still great. It will be faster than 15 glass and 15 teeth but slightly less damage. It’s barely noticeable. I have a video coming up that goes into depth more about it.

What do you think, can you depopulate the island from cannibals? I build my base up there on the cliff, on the spot you call fertile land. I didn´t want the cannibals to annoy me at night, so I was murdering them for few days in the area. And after few days and since then - cannibals are nowhere to be found. I wonder if that´s bug, related to the particular area, or you can just remove cannibals from your island, manually
+Jesus Christ Not a bug my lord. You aren’t building on a patrol route so they aren’t coming by. They were probably designated attacks. You can’t wipe them from the game, they keep respawning. Cheers

man thanks for giving me some advices...ive survived for 14 days....theres a lot of mutants and i made a base in a canibal village....and i made wall around the village of water collectors....its invulnerable.....100% protected base.....try it out....its easy...thank you again...

Hi from Canada! You should try a modded playthrough that makes things even *HARDER* like increased mutant spawns and slower growing times, stuff like that. Modding in this game has tons of potential you should try it man.

Was really surprised at the rarity of animals, seems turtle meat will be your best friend. I did notice the few rabbits you find are in cannibal villages.
