And at the same time, it is a brilliant character study into the nature of humanity by observing the developments of various side characters and their interactions with other main characters and seeing the “monster” present within them, whether that be atoning for murder, alcoholism, child abandonment and readoption, the perils of blindly following ideals or working too hard too long, or even trying to change drastic regrets of the past. Yes I agree that's what blew my mind is how a story can be so well written and connect, everything is in place perfectly. There is some other anime which do this too, but Monster manages to write the characters so incredibly well there's a reason Johan is in top 5 best villains of all time. Mostly in his character writing. Very well thought out anime, but it goes beyond that it also incorporates real life and history too. Very relevant realistic themes, nothing feels fake it could definitely be made into a live action movie and it would be good because you don't need cgi or anything like that. Some other anime you should watch that connects obviously death note, but try Odd taxi and Ousama Ranking too....bonus anime for you to watch is Rainbow if you like dark stories focusing mainly on characters
A really good overview of the show. I think the main reason people do not watch this or like this anime is that this actually not like an anime. The character development, the event portrayals, the slow-burn nature are highly contrary to the type of anime mostly made nowadays. And of course there's the ending that most people hate on, but I think is possibly the best ending to a show I've seen! For me, it's definitely among the shows to watch before you die.
Tamoghno Bhattacharya Yeah, that’s the thing. It falls more in line with Japanese adult novels. Every seinen anime that exists so far is mostly for teens and young adults, but this one is mainly for adults and it shows. There aren’t that many anime like it, and that’s part of what makes it unique and great.
@@McFIare Exactly, that's the main point I was trying to make! Even though there is no other anime like Monster, could you suggest some similar seinen shows that are mostly for adults?
Tamoghno Bhattacharya Well, Monster is definitely one of its kind in terms of anime. But some stuff that I think of would be Paranoia Agent, Devilman Crybaby, Perfect Blue, Paprika, Zankyou no Terror, and Psycho-Pass. Just now I finished Netflix's Pluto - and like you I LOVED it. Like any show that makes an impact I then proceeded to lookup UA-cam reviews/analysises and found your [excellent] Pluto video. And now I just watched this one. I have to admit that I watched the first episode of Monster a few years ago, but I was too young/inexperienced/impatient and stopped after only one episode, finding it too "slow." But you could say the same thing about Pluto and would be completely missing the point and ultimately missing out. So you convinced me, I'm going to give it another shot right now. Great video man! Just wanted to correct two things. Although it feels like a Seinen, Death Note is actually a Shonen, and also the reason Monster felt like a 90's anime, is because the manga was made from 1994-2001, and the anime tried to properly adapt the manga from its time frame(the 90's).

Yeah it was a mistake on my part for skipping a line in the script. What I originally meant is that some people view it as Seinen for it’s mature themes, despite it being Shounen and published in WSJ. That caused a bit of dissonance in what the term Seinen was. Monster, on the other hand, would be considered true Seinen through and through.

I live in the US but for some reason Monster isn’t available on any streaming services at all for me. It says it’s on Netflix and Prime video but it’s not available on either of those for me.
How can I watch monster I’ve heard it’s been added to Netflix but I can’t find it. I’ve also heard it’s on Amazon buts it says it’s unavailable and then on UA-cam the series is incomplete where can I watch this because I’m going crazy trying to find it
Is there a difference between the manga and anime? Which one should you recommend i do? Read the manga or watch the anime? I have very little time on hands, so i can't really do both.
Both are practically identical. If you don't have the time to watch 74 episodes, read the manga. If you do have the time, watch the anime. All of it is on UA-cam both subed and dubed. What ever you choose, you won't regret it. It's one of the best series ever written.
I tried watching it. I got about 5 episodes in before I was too bored to continue. I think this story would work much better read than watched. I'll give the manga a try I guess.
Bro you should watch anime I agree the story in starting is a little boring but its like preparation Only watch 2 to 3 episodes per day for best experience
Who did really poison the candies, in Episode 2? This is really bugging me lately. I still can’t believe young Johan could have done it. Poisoning a sealed package of candies alone seems unlikely. I thought Bonaparta sent them to him to kill his “failure experiment”. Johan took credit in the end just playing with Tenma’s mind. But it’s weird. Maybe Peter Capek? Is the poison shown later in the anime in some shot?
I just want to know how do I keep myself interested I got to like episode 39 and I completely just dropped it maybe it's a fact that I have ADHD but I want to finish it and I want to be able to hear character analysis of these stories it's just so hard it feels like a chore to watch and I don't want to feel that way when watching it
I tried, but it was a huge pain, dtoo much filler episodes that were ends in themselves. to the episode of the old couple taking on hitchhiker Tenma, I said to myself "why am I watching this anime, also this episode makes no sense within the story and could have been skipped." much better Pluto with only 8 episodes of which all relevant to the story
I feel as though i am one of the few who watched monster and honestly felt that it is wayy overhyped. It was quite boring at times and a struggle to finish at some points. I guess its because it was too slow paced for me and i feel as though everyone was at the right place at the right time just to help with plot (i hope that made sense lol) i guess i need to stick to anime which include hand to hand combat and super powers because this was not it for me. I feel if i want to watch a crime thriller there are better shows with real actors on netflix than monster. Just my opinion btw i hope ppl dont get butthurt lol also sorry for essay....
Actually, that's perfectly fine. This anime is not for everyone. I, myself, did not like it way back when. It was only when I grew up that I started to watch it and appreciate it. It's a slow and deep anime, it's too real that it might not be very appealing to many. I actually thought it was based off a normal Japanese novel at first because that's how they are like (at least the ones I've read), they're slow-paced and get you in for the long run that might still not be filled with action much.
Difference between saying a show is "Not for you", and calling it Overhyped, which is a short term for "Not as good as people say it is" Just be mindful of how you word yourself, considering you claimed it to be your opinion, but the statement you made prior to saying it was an opinion, is an objective statement.
i want this in DVD or better format for crying out loud. Why this one is so Taboo among anime production is just offensive. Like i get it it talks and shows Really fucked up concepts that is REAL not fiction. But thats why it is so dam good.
Bro, Batman vs Joker is the same thing, but like 10X times more enjoyable than this boring shit. Like Joker is just so much superior to Johan, and Batman is so much cooler than Tenma and his shitty whining.
Monster is an absolutely incredible story, I'm glad I gave it a chance. I now see why Urasawa is so highly regarded in the community.

Absolute masterpiece ❤
NARUTO using power of friendship.
Light power of death note. 🤔
Naoki Urasawa used power of EXPOSING HUMAN NATURE. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for this video.
Beautiful anime
I just finished watching this anime and what a show I stayed up till 4 am watching it. It’s really a great anime.
the greatest.
"Commit kidnapping for a monter viewing buddy"😂😂😂
Good Video!👍🏼

>uploads FNAF and Minecraft videos

>refuses to elaborate
>leaves
Urasawa actually created monster in 1994 to 2001
Dying to watch it, but it keeps getting removed from UA-cam and I can't find it anywhere!
Speaking off lost and forbidden animated works: Waltch Pantheon. Do a video essay on it. This show stands with the likes of Monster and Archana.
Bro this was amazing! When do you plan to make more vids?
Cyrup I have a few planned in mind but I have yet to start working on any of them. Been busy with my life recently, but once I get some free time, I’ll start working on something.
@@McFIare hell yeah! Thanks man, you got mad potential
Cyrup Why thank you!
😅😂🤔. Hello, If you still there. It's been 3years. I would love to see more of these kinds, yet I see no videos more. This channel seems abandoned, Did you make another channel?
Yea I’m still alive don’t worry 😂 I’ve just been preoccupied the past few years. I have a few video ideas but I want to come back knowing I can commit to it.
I live in the US but for some reason Monster isn’t available on any streaming services at all for me. It says it’s on Netflix and Prime video but it’s not available on either of those for me.
How can I watch monster I’ve heard it’s been added to Netflix but I can’t find it. I’ve also heard it’s on Amazon buts it says it’s unavailable and then on UA-cam the series is incomplete where can I watch this because I’m going crazy trying to find it
It's getting added to Netflix supposedly next month.
Can you please add spanish subtitles? I want to show this to my parents and the don't know english very well
Is there a difference between the manga and anime? Which one should you recommend i do? Read the manga or watch the anime? I have very little time on hands, so i can't really do both.
Both are practically identical. If you don't have the time to watch 74 episodes, read the manga. If you do have the time, watch the anime. All of it is on UA-cam both subed and dubed.
What ever you choose, you won't regret it. It's one of the best series ever written.
Bro you should make more videos, you have capability to become a successful anituber and you had a nice voice too love you (no homo)
Thanks dude
This isn't a request. Watch it.
W I´ve made a monster edit and it doesn´t get as much as attention as it should Monster is a really great anime
I tried watching it. I got about 5 episodes in before I was too bored to continue.
I think this story would work much better read than watched. I'll give the manga a try I guess.
Bro you should watch anime
I agree the story in starting is a little boring but its like preparation
Only watch 2 to 3 episodes per day for best experience
Who did really poison the candies, in Episode 2? This is really bugging me lately. I still can’t believe young Johan could have done it. Poisoning a sealed package of candies alone seems unlikely. I thought Bonaparta sent them to him to kill his “failure experiment”. Johan took credit in the end just playing with Tenma’s mind. But it’s weird. Maybe Peter Capek? Is the poison shown later in the anime in some shot?
Yeah I'm not too sure about that too but hey the whole point about johans character is to be mysterious
Where can I watch this legally
One thing I didn’t mention, the entire series is apparently on UA-cam. You can find it easily. I discovered this after making the video. 😅
Good video. I want more.
I just want to know how do I keep myself interested I got to like episode 39 and I completely just dropped it maybe it's a fact that I have ADHD but I want to finish it and I want to be able to hear character analysis of these stories it's just so hard it feels like a chore to watch and I don't want to feel that way when watching it
It's probably your ADHD. That kinda sucks because the slow-burn is one of the best parts of the experience.
Johan is not a serial killer
What is the music throughout the video particularly around 1:00
It's "part" from monster
@@ishanisen6547 Yup I found it in the description after some digging. Magnificent Track!
where can i get a 720 version?
I can’t find it anywhere online. Not available on Amazon Prime, nor is it available on Netflix. Where can I watch it, anybody knows?
animepahe if there's no other options
Where can I watch this ? What streaming service ? In sub ofc
doing this show in 720
Where to watch this anime I can’t find it anywhere
I found a dvd of it online it used to be on UA-cam but they canceled it
It’s on Netflix now
Hey what's Anime name mentioned at 3:00?
Where can I get it
Where to watch this anime?
I tried, but it was a huge pain, dtoo much filler episodes that were ends in themselves.
to the episode of the old couple taking on hitchhiker Tenma, I said to myself "why am I watching this anime, also this episode makes no sense within the story and could have been skipped."
much better Pluto with only 8 episodes of which all relevant to the story
Death Note is not seinen, it's a shounen
Where to watch it
is it only watchable in neflix?
Where I live, yes. You can probably google it.
You’re a shounentard, go stick to death note you loser HAHAHAHAHHA
I feel the same way about pacing of the anime, then I finished the manga in a day, you should try the manga if you're bothered by the pace.
Difference between saying a show is "Not for you", and calling it Overhyped, which is a short term for "Not as good as people say it is"
Just be mindful of how you word yourself, considering you claimed it to be your opinion, but the statement you made prior to saying it was an opinion, is an objective statement.
A masterpiece with a disappointing ending
Where to watch
i want this in DVD or better format for crying out loud. Why this one is so Taboo among anime production is just offensive. Like i get it it talks and shows Really fucked up concepts that is REAL not fiction. But thats why it is so dam good.
make more videos man
Death Note is a Shōnen btw
how is it a shounen 💀
@@gragbomb Because it was published in Weekly Shōnen Jump and is categorized as such
Death note is joke besides monster, monster always makes u curious that monster exsist in the show but it reality show is nihilistic (:
Which is better the manga or the anime
Now you can watch Monster on UA-cam! ua-cam.com/play/PL2Ha6FZlv6OUIclnQtcDh_psZvKPL_H6z.html
I love both!
@@YourSweetPotato I love sub
I love both
But manga better for me.
hello
Bro mentioning Naruto, one piece and MHA but not the DB Franchise💀
You want me to check it out, but there's no way to at all.
Pirate it
It's on Netflix right now.
i tried it but i personally didnt like it
How dare you replace Bleach with my mid academia
I thought the same
Did this nigga say my hero instead of dragon ball/ death note??💀💀
Lmao
I don’t like this show because the main villain or whatever tries too hard to be me
Bro, Batman vs Joker is the same thing, but like 10X times more enjoyable than this boring shit. Like Joker is just so much superior to Johan, and Batman is so much cooler than Tenma and his shitty whining.
i watched it and it's overrated and has way too many episodes, and some of the most annoying characters of all time... johan and anna/nina.
It’s on Netflix now
