- Surprise, shock and HORROR! The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5-seat (or short wheel base) has to be the most misunderstood car launched this year!
The WL Grand Cherokee, now released as a shorter and slightly cheaper 5 seater, is trying to take on the likes of Mazda and even some German rivals with its luxury new Jeep Grand Cherokee. But at OVER $100,000 it definitely won't be to everyone's taste. Are you one of the people that have completely missed the point of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee 5 Seater? Let's talk about that!

As an owner of the previous generation, contrary to popular beleif, it was extremely reliable, i would have absolutely upgraded to the newer model if still had 3.5t towing.
Good review!!
I've had 5 Grand Cherokee Jeeps and never had a single issue. Current one I have is a 2018 Trackhawk.
BTW it does come with a V8 in the US.
I've heard they're using premium flames now too, so when it catches fire, it does so in a luxurious manner. Gotta give it to Jeep for commitment to higher quality!
Great honest Review. I have always had a soft spot for them, and by god it ticks every bloody box that I want in a Car.
I do 60000km/pa and the 100000km Warranty is really the only sticking point for me. C'mon Jeep make it 5 yrs /unlimited
Had 4 Jeeps, all built before 2004. Just about to finish a 2000 Cherokee xj as a daily driver. I will gladly bet anyone, that this will still outlives this model...😉
Also not sure why you didn't do the 0-100 with ESP disabled or try a different AWD mode (if available)? I mean if you get power loss to that degree I'd have expected a second take!
The feel of luxury is short lived.
But Nappa!!!
JEEPs pricing is weird, here in The Netherlands the normal wheelbase 4XE plugin version was supposed to cost from 88,000 euros three months ago. But last month they suddenly raised the starting price to 103,700 euros...
one needs to order grand cherokee overland $62230 U.S. with off road group. gets 18" off road tires so called trail rated ,the GC trail hawk is now a 4Xe @$67055 us Toyota 4Runner trd pro is $55955 U.S. $ is sold out and one gets on a wait list. and pays $5000 -$10,000 over sicker
Interesting, that the non U.S Overlands don’t have the chrome front hooks(I love mine) , and would have thought Jeep would have reversed the entertainment system and hvac controls for right wheel drivers. Yes, it’s real Walnut.
The ACC in my Summit Reserve works beautifully, with parallel warning light bars and actually tugs the wheel back to the center of the lane WITH accompanying vibrations (all configurable in the U-Connect 5), if desired when the road lines and stripes are readable and consistent by the sensors. I use a slightly water dampened microfiber( please allow me the U.S. spelling..lol😂) cloth on the piano key material parts, but still have minute scratches after almost a year. Just stalling the inevitable. I was as interested in that lovely valley and incredible sea view behind you. Nice vid.
Base model $93,000 NZD. 4XE $155,000. It costs a huge amount of money to save money.
What do you think about Jeep's new premium strategy? Should they bring back the V8?
No, they shouldn’t bring the V8 back. As Long as they can make these new jeeps reliable, they are on track to being a premium brand. They also should make their ‘off-road’ models actually built to be off-road.
They need to let everyone know that they are turning into a premium brand.
@@lucaswasiak8569 😂...Jeep will never be premium
Overpriced trash
Jeep...2 recalls in a week. Tells you everything you need to know. 🤑
Still less than Toyota 😂
Who in the hell would buy a Jeep? Do you not like reliability?
Hmm, shame the dealer couldn't even put the front number plate on straight on such a "premium" vehicle. I can see you really like it Matt but with the carry over single engine choice being the Pentastar 3.6, I couldn't put my hand in my pocket for over $100k for one of these.
To be fair Matt, I think it is you that has missed the point. Can't strap nappa seats to a turd and expect people will want to fork out for it. I mean c'mon, what car in the market would you buy this over if you had $110,000? Jeep luxury or a Porsche Macan? I know it's smaller but I'd rather a macan and just carry less shit.
'Premiuming up Jeep brand', is code for making a bigger better more expensive car, but one that still has major company issues and has a skyrocked price. Previous business model was unsustainable, but profit now seems to go before the consumer. Would I buy one? I'd think about it.
I don't get it, and think it's a rip-off. Same engine as a Wrangler Sport. It seems we're accepting $110K cars as the norm now. The Asian brands are rubbing their hands together I reckon. Besides, I'd prefer cloth seats. Warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
I'll take my chances on the new Mazda SUVs CX60 and CX90
Maybe if they release an SRT or better yet, a Trackhawk, I'll look at it then.
The 2021 Trackhawk is still a bucket list car for me.
Diesel option removed cause savings on economy can't be made up at the bowser due to outrageous prices for what is an unrefined, lower quality fuel that SHOULD be cheaper. People are over it. I mean you get good economy, then pay for it at the pump and negate it, and then have to deal with shitty take off lag. So why bother. I agree.
The wheelspin was very strange on takeoff for such low power outputs.. The AWD system may need some tuning? I mean my Cupra doesn't do that in the wet and is WAY faster than this, even though power outputs are similar (although I have more torque and a better spread of it). And the Cupra is using a Golf Mk7 front wheel drive based Haldex on demand AWD, so should theoretically have less grip than GC. Unless Jeep are using really, really crappy tyres? (sorry I didn't look at that part, skipped through this review as car doesn't interest me).
Diesel is dead due to dpf issues and blocked egr's. I.e. the pollution gear attached to them ruins them. while a diesel engine may be able to do 500k kms, all the crap bolted onto them these days can't. Unless you're towing regularly, the fuel savings will be eaten up in maintenance.
@@bazza2540 Interesting thanks
@@bazza2540 My brother in law's freelander 2 HSE SD 140KW diesel is just under 300K at present and no mechanical issues. 2012 model.
2000km? Car looks like it’s spent 5+ year old already inside 😅 what the hell was going on with the seat base?
If this car was 80k drive away you would consider it but 110k dreaming when you get to that price you can get a German suv
I lost me at 110k
Big no in this car, jeep lost the plot, as a former grand Cherokee limited (2015) owner, passed to a BMW x6 (2018) and now a Lexus Rx (2022), jeep has no chance to get close to those cars
Bad eksterior. and I hate sun roof
Overpriced junk... keep well away.
🤮
Reliability is always an issue with this brand
Not from our experience one Grand Cherokee with 220 000 km and a Cherokee with 90 000 km, zero issues. 🤣🤣
@@AussieDazza you got lucky...buy a lottery ticket. My brother in law's Grand Cherokee self combusted on his drive way....😃
@@AussieDazza zero issues yet
