IMPORTANT CORRECTION (Updated 16 November 2019): There is Anti-Shock setting in E-M5 Mark III but it is disabled by default. To enable Anti-Shock for E-M5 Mark III, go to: Menu -- Gear Tab -- D1 -- Burst/Timer Icons Settings -- CHECK the Anti-Shock option. The error is in the video from 4.00 mark. The error has been corrected in the corresponding blog article. Thanks for pointing out, Michael Schuster.
Really appreciate this video and the Cheat Sheets in print form, from the 2015 and 2019. Really really helpful. Something in writing at last.Guve yourself a pat in the back. You are one cleave chap. Many Thanks. Glad I found you.All the best, have a great day.
Thank you Robin. This will make setting up the em5mklll easier as the menus have changed a bit. I noticed you did not mention the noise reduction to auto as was with the older model. Has it changed ?
Anti flicker. Canon introduced it in the 5Ds. You turn it on, the camera detects the frequency. It's in the Panasonic G9. Implemented like your camera. I turn it on and leave it on. I have found no adverse effects. Someone described how to produce flicker, I set my 80D to antiflicker, and there was no flicker. A lot of those settings only really affect JPEG. If you shoot JPEG, use them to create the final image. I set my aspect ration to 16x9 on all my cameras, my raw files are the native format, but if I choose the Lr crop tool, it suggests 16x9. A few cameras, I think the Panasonic GH3, and the Fujifilm medium format cameras can choose wider/narrower areas depending on the format you choose, I suspect that affects raw files.
Antiflicker will cause slight shutter lag. I've tested and verified it. Unless you are shooting still subjects, I would recommend not having it on at all times. Use it as necessary. You do know there are JPEG shooters right?
Spot on.. Thanks.. On a side note, what PC gear and/or laptop do use these days? If you do use a PC, what do you recommend for the internal hardware? Such as graphic card, processor, memory, etc..

Hi Robin. I have the em1-mkII and this video, although for the mkIII is very helpful. One question. On my SCP, at the top, the date with the time counting is displayed. I've just noticed it. Is there any way to remove it from showing in the SCP? Thanks!!
In Display settings on my EM10 Mk2 the grid for 'Thirds' is not thirds at all... The vertical lines are more like 40/20/40 in proportion. Can anyone explain that?
Good helping video Robin. Thank you. I’m a bit curious why you do not trust the face/eye detection. Is the new EM5/3 too slow or does the EM5/3 have too many AF setting to adjust, to get it right for the individual picture? Would be nice with a video explaining more in details why/how to use the different AF system/settings. Greeting from DK
I don't trust ANY face/eye detect from ANY camera. It has nothing to do with Olympus. They don't work well enough for me. I am a professional photographer.
Hi,Ribin Wong,Have you ever tried panasonic M43 camera,I own GH5 for nearly 2 years, but I use it taking stills, I never taking video.I own 2 pro lens, 12-40 pro and 40-150 pro,Is it better to switch to EM1 2 or continue using my GH5, thanx!
Are you aware of any problems with Apple operating systems and the EM5 Mk111? I am finding neither my ipad or MacBook Air (both late models with latest saw) will recognise RAW files from new camera. There has been no problem with the EM1. I can load jpg with no problem. When the RAW files are loaded to MacBook they are unrecognised but my editing saw (ON!) has no problem dealing with them.
BEWARE: There is a big mistake in the Video! The AntiShock Setting ist not automaticly turned on in the E_M5 III. They actually hid this Setting in the SuperControlPanel, to show this Setting in the SCP you have to go to menu D1 and enable it at the Shutter-Settings (between: "Picture Mode Settings" and "Multi Function Settings" Please let everyone know about this, because ist improves sharpness a lot at the certain shitter speeds! Thanks.
Thanks for pointing out. Apologies for the inconvenience. I have posted appropriate corrections in the descriptions, pinned comment and also made amendment to the corresponding blog article.

What puzzles me is why did Olympus hide this by default? Maybe you could ask Olympus?
BTW:
Really like your videos! Thanks
I know this video is fairly old Robin but still very helpful. Thanks.

Hi Robin thank you so much for this video. Are these settings also suitable for those who shoot only JPG ?
Your videos are great for me since I'm a new Olympus user (E-M5 II). I currently use Fujifilm (X-T3) and really the settings are quite different.
Your cheat sheet very useful Robin. I really like it and watch the entire video. Keep it up your good work. Have a nice day. Greeting from Singapore.
Thanks, glad you found it useful! So share it out.
Thanks @Robin Wong for your great video. After watching all your video. I have a dillemma.. Which one should i get ? E-M5 Mark III or E-M1 Mark III...
Thanks a ton Robin for these informative videos! How do you activate both the electronic level adjuster + histogram every preview for still shots?

Is there an option to switch between mechanical shutter and electronic shutter or does the camera do it automatically on its own?

Thanks for the video! Do you know when lightroom will support omd em5 mark iii raw files?
The adobe raw support is already out. If you use lIghtroom it should be able to read the RAW files now. I don't use Lightroom so I cannot verify this.

So Robin What is your thought on Olympus shutting down? I was looking at getting a small camera like the OM-D but know I'm not sure.
