It is astonishing how much work goes into building those superb quality knives and sheaths. You should be very proud of the knife making legacy that you are creating here. Each one that you produce is a legendary tool and piece of art all rolled into one. Thank you for explaining an important part of the process that goes into them. Take care, see you on the next one.
Always amazing to see how much attention you give each and every blade Sandy. Glad your ribs are on the mend too, given how busy you’ll be on the run up to Christmas. With any luck, I’ll score one of your camp knives when the time comes…👍🏻
Everyone knows that every aspect of your knifes will be perfect! Sorry you took a spill. Sandy you are a very good and safe rider, I’ve watched you ride. Be careful out there!
Glad your still with us and are healing, ribs a a slow heal for sure . I shattered an elbow back in 1972 still gives me hell when it's rainy and humid only one bone connected in my right for arm . after tha I stop riding had 4 kids I had no business risking it again with the family. that would be thoughtless with a family to support. No more bikes. Happy Trails
I've been lucky enough to purchase a whittler from Sandy and I can say the craftsmanship is beyond compare..although they are tools to be used..they will last to be passed on to , and enjojoyed by future generations ...thanks Sandy
Hey Sandy it’s so nice to see you. I’m glad you are on the mend. I’ve had some complications, health wise and was away from you tube and everything actually. I’m slowly trying to recover but sometimes it takes longer, I am fighting hard and will catch up on your videos I missed to give you a thumbs up at least. Get well sir and I will do the same. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
Brilliant Sandy! So glad you are gradually improving after your fall👍🏻 Your knifemaking skills are as exiting to watch as your excursions on your bikes (both pedal and petrol). Kind regards
The Master at work! Love all the explanations ad how you show us how it is all done - just love it! The Whittler prototype is working well and creating a lot of Chess pieces & 2 smoking pipes using hard/soft wood with only stropping it when needed. As you have seen the chess pieces, I will send pics of the pipes... Stay safe and healthy!
I am glad to see that you continue to be on the mend after your tumble Sandy. Clearly a knife maker that's made of the same strong stuff as their knives. 😉 Take care.
A fascinating insight, Sandy, and the finished product with the maple scales looked really beautiful. Out of interest, how frequently do the indenters on the hardness tester need replacing?
I've never replaced one yet Steve, I just run a regular calibration test on a known hardness test piece, I've never had to make any adjustments to the machine so far, I guess wear on the diamond indenter is negligible

Sandy ,please can you sell me a whittler knife , think there cool wood workers . Ian ireland
Full tang slab sided knives have become commonplace, heavy in the handle, and ridiculously easy to make.
"Easy" 🙄
My cranky remark notwithstanding, these knives are remarkably well done. I've learned a lot from his videos.@@IvorMektin1701
