Trout fishing in the rain, I lost a big rainbow trout

- It was getting late in the day when I decided to head off in the light rain to go trout fishing in one of my favourite little trout fishing spots. The last time I fished this spot I caught a big rainbow trout and a couple of smaller fish. That was back in the spring time. Now, 6 months later I returned...
I hope you are enjoying my regular fishing videos.

Good terrain for it!
Haha Good terrain for all types of creepy crawlies. LOL
@@robbiefishing Mmmm crawliiieesss arrrgghhh...
Great casting skill Robbie and really good video as usual 👏 👍 👌
Thanks so much buddy.
So good to see Celtas taking good fish. Feel like they are no longer fashionable. May need to dig them from the bottom of the tackle box next time I go fresh water.
Thanks mate. The new ones certainly swim differently to the old ones from back in the day, but either way the fish still climb all over them.
I love your videos you got me into fishing
Thabks so much mate. I hope you're catching a few.
Beautiful fish robbie that rain is beautiful
Thanks mate, isn't it ever. I ways love rainy days. I hope we get plenty of then this winter.
Great session Robbie 👏. Glad you didn't get bogged. Oldie but still funny joke. Cheers
Haha thanks Deb.
Nice one mate some real nice fish enjoyed that one 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Cam. I like it when for water is still clear, but has a bit of colour in it.
They were very pretty trout
Thanks mate. Rainbow trout sure are very pretty fish.
Yes some great memories for me too mate flicking celtas around
They don't spin like they use to, but the trout still love them.
@@robbiefishing yer nothing wirse than a non spinning spinner
Hey Robbie I was just watching some of your morning fishing videos, in the morning before it’s light and you can’t see your rods me and dad like to put bells on but attach glow sticks to them so you can see the roads and also have both rods out. Cracker of a trout video mate
Hey mate, thats an excellent idea. Thanks for watching my videos.
@@robbiefishing no problem mate I love em
60,000!!! Congratulations mate.
Hey Glen thanks so much mate. I took your green light bells out after dark a few nights ago and didn't get a bite. LOL 🤣
Good video mate 🍻
Thanks mate.
Congratulations on 60k subscriber’s
Thank you so much Lachie
Great skill Robbie, I’d Cath more bushes than fish.
Thanks mate. Haha I catch plenty of those too don't you worry. LOL
Nice! I'll have to check it out I reckon. Bloody nice vid mate! 😁🎣
Thanks so much mate.
@@robbiefishing very welcome! 😎
They were ON the chew at least!
They sure were UF. I love trout fishing with lures when there's been just enough rain for the water to be coloured, but still clear.
Your a better man than I am, I lost a big 60cm plus brown trout at my feet this morning and I’m still spewing about it 😂
Haha It's Hurst doesn't it. LOL 60cm trout hurt more than 40cm trout mate. LOL
Also loved the slow mo
Ps I like the Celtic spinner in green..I caught my 1st trout on it last year...😳☺🇦🇺
Awesome, well done mate.
Gday Robbie. I throw celtas in the bin. I havent been happy with them for 15 or so years. Blue Fox however, I think theyre great. Been smackin the reddies on gold ones (spinners) last 12 or so months. Always get a few, mostly 30+cm. Have to walk a bit tho.
I find I get massive line twist on them bloody celtas, but not with the blue fox'.
Thanks mate. I've long preferred the Blue Fox Super Vibrax as well. You also get a lot more casting distance with them and they pull a lot harder. Wouldn't it be great to one day see them in a tackleclub box.
That'd be good, spread the word!
What a great afternoon in the bush.
It’s good to see the Tackle Box isn’t about shiny things. The celta is so old school it’s in the Redfin and Trout hall of fame😜
Thanks for sharing
Love your work
Healthy habits
Thanks Moo Moo. Haha I agree, definitely an old classic.
Great video Robbie! some really nice fish! those little rainbows are always so pretty. That big rainbow put up a hectic fight!
also Are there any browns in that creek or only rainbows?
,Tom
Thanks Tom. I've been fishing that creek since the mid 1980s mate and have never seen a single brown trout in it.
Amazing video. What area you are catching trout?
Thanks mate. I'm in North East Victoria.
Thanks for sharing this video mate.
Cheers 🍻
Hi from Melbourne Australia mate 👍.
Hi George, thanks so much for watching mate.
nice trout wouldvd been a good eater
Thanks Dan. I reckon it would have been for sure mate.
@@robbiefishing then try relessing less eaters
Hey mate another great vid what sought of lures would you suggest to throw against ruining water
Thanks mate. Its hard to beat soft plastic against running water as they don't crest any unnecessary drag.
Loved it! I'm so keen to hit up the trout again soon before its too late. That big one looked bigger than 40cm to me!
Thanks mate. I'm loving my trout fishing at the moment.
You don't keep many trout is there a minimum size or out of season 🤔 we don't get them in qld
Hey mate, unlike the natives that are stocked EVERYWHERE, trout are only stocked in lakes. The streams are ledt to fend for themselves, so I am a bit apprehensive to keep them. I do keep an odd one, but that's about it. I actually keep a big brown in a video that is coming up soon.
Ok thanks 😊 like to see more yabby videos 😃
@@andyfrench477 There will be more but nit a lot until spring time. I do have a few to be released during winter in a series called "From The Vault".
When does trout fishing close..I'm downunder near dubbo
Hey mate, I'm pretty sure in NSW it closes the same as Victoria, at midnight on the Monday night of Queens Birthday weekend in June.
The good old Celta! One of my first spinners, that and the hog back. Lol Nice work Robbie. 🤙🏻
Thanks mate. Same with me. When I was a teenager it was the certainly and the Super Vibrax, although back the they were called a Blue Fox and cost $2.35 each. Haha
@@robbiefishing it’s amazing how far fishing has come looking back on it. 🤙🏻
Great too see so many fish , in the little streams. Good work.
Thanks heaps Brandan..
finally some trout fishing 🤣
Haha Be excited, I have a fee trout videos coming uo over the next couple of weeks.
@@robbiefishing i will be watching your uploads carefully to make sure i dont miss them like i have in the past LOL
Good day rob... well mate that stream was alive ...shame that bigger fish slipped the hook..but a lovely session, I was just making a Sunday morning fry for the family, but put it on hold for your video lol...
Mate hope your having a pleasant and peaceful Sunday..
Stay safe mate.
😎🇬🇧
Hi Michael, thanks so much mate. Sunday morning fry sounds wonderful. Your family are very very lucky.
@@robbiefishing your always welcome mate ...and thank you also.
👍
I have a go to celta spinner, it's silver with red and black stripes on the blade. Hard body lures were doing no good at Lake Buffalo so I put it on much to the amusement of the others in the boat. I caught a 2lb redfin, the only catch for the boat for the day. Always loved em. 👍🤠
2lb redfin, WOW awesome work. They don't seem to spin nearly as well as they use to, but the trout still loved them.
That tacklebox is insane value! Congrats on 60k subs aswell!
Thanks mate. Definitely one of their best to date.
Hi Robbie what kind of rod a reel are you using
Hi Daynon, all of the information is available in the video description, including links. 👍
Well done on 60K subscribers
I caught my first Redfin yesterday
Nice stuff
@@hughprentice7795 thanks Hugh it was a fish finger
@@nathansoutbackfishing haha they seem to be everywhere these days
@@hughprentice7795 yea I got him on a vibe
@@nathansoutbackfishing yeah nice stuff
Do you still have satin
Hi Amanda I sure do.
I caught a huge 63cm brown trout the other day for my first trout, how's the luck on that?
WOW What a great way to start. Well done mate.
Great stuff robbie
Thanks so much Hugh.
they hit my lure and never come back 😂 you got the best luck in melbourne ! good stuff mate
Haha thanks mate. The only problem is thst I am 3 hours north of Melbourne. LOL
I think the celta has brought back memories for a lot of people, myself included. I really need to get up and do some trout fishing again mate.
Thanks mate. I love it, absolutely love it. In fact I might even s eat out this arvo. I have a spot that I want to explore.
Real celtas disappeared from the Australian market for quite a while and have only recently come back. Unfortunately my favourite pattern for trout (yellow spots on a black blade) never came back
That repala lure is like the exact lure as what we have but a touch smaller and we catch some monster Redfin on it anyway great video
Sounds awesome. Thanks so much mate.
Hey Robbie love the videos i was wondering what is a good pound line for trout and what type of line thanks 👍
Thanks mate. There's a link to the line I use including breaking strain in the video description. 👍
Nice session. Love the little creek and the serenity in your vids when you go Trout fishing. Do you find when it rains and those creeks get murky, the fishing is better?
Thanks Larry. I do love trout fishing straight after rain. I fond these types of conditions are perfect for lure fishing, when the water is still clear, but is a bit coloured from the rain.
awesome video robbie, been having so much more fun trout fishing with worms this month. went out the other day got 3 nice ones and a blackfish might upload the footage some time.
Thanks James, that sounds awesome. Surprisingly I went trout fishing with worms yesterday and caught some nice fish myself. I was after blackfish and caught a heaps of trout instead. Haha
@@robbiefishing hahaha yeah i’ve been finding it a lot more effective especially when the creek was really dirty I could start upstream and walk my bait down the side and I’d catch heaps without them seeing. Haha I’ve been catching the odd blackfish aswell most times I’ve been bait fishing lately but normally when I’m carp and Redfin fishing in barwidgee.
hey robbie. absolutely love all of your videos and really like the rod you're using in this video. just wondering what size reel you use for your setup??
Thanks mate. I'm pretty sure it is a 1000 size.
Hey Tom I just had a look and it is actually a 2000 size mate.
