oh my gosh, the long-awaited return of Garth Risk Hallberg? Thank you for apprising me of this =) City on Fire was the fabulously ambitious book that made me a reader again after a many years lull.
Thx, Eric! It seems unlikely I'll be able to get to any of those anytime soon but continuing on the 100 best lists I'm almost done with Didion's Year of Magical Thinking, which so far documents how personal tragedies altered her brain chemistry for a short time. Before this I'd only read her Play It as It Lays, an excellent novel which contains the memorable line: "I'm eating an existential hamburger." Sometime in August I hope to finish Roth's Plot Against America.
Hi Eric: I loved Clean (Limpia) by Alia Trabucco. With the exception of the ending (where the author pushes in a contingent part of Chilean history and it kinda doesn't work - cos it feels forced-) the story is wonderfully and eerily well told. The nanny feels her loneliness to the bone, as does the girl who ends up dead, but the family and social context of the girl is completely different from that of the nanny. Very, very worth of reading.

Great! Glad I could tip you off about it and hope you love it as much as his first book.
Absolutely love the Cher tee and sense of humor ❤

Hello Eric 🙋♀️ I have not heard of any of the authors. “Pages of the Sea” “Anyone’s Ghost” and “A Poisoner’s Tale” sound like interesting reads.📚📖
