Wish this video had time stamps, but thanks a lot for the overview, super helpful!
Thank you, very useful review. I normally aspire to hard copies, but I think I'm only interested in the naval campaign book - and use that with my Azhanti High Lightning book and maps. Together should be good. I have the Snapshot rules on the CD-ROM from FFE so then should have best of both worlds. So PDF version of the Element Class set...
I saw this at a game store today and your review answered a lot of my questions. The books look interesting but the maps not so much. They are to big to have such little utility. If I'm going to pay this much and get so many map sheets I want to at least have the option to use this for war gaming out a boarding action or two.
Yeah, I was hoping for a modern Azhanti High Lightning sort of thing. Not so much, unfortunately.
Mine came with a full lid. Maybe they listened to you.
I thought this product was something different than what it actually is. And I love what it actually is. I had Backed Deepnight as well, and didn't realize that this product featured the same model of ship. I ordered this about halfway through watching your video! :) FYI: They announced that Deepnight, and all future box sets, will have full closure boxes, not the half-lids. As of this comment, Deepnight main box set is on a boat to NA!
Oh hey, I'd just watched your vid on the new printing of Beyond the Mountains of Madness and ordered that!
I've been reading it and have been honestly blown away. A ton of research and care went into the construction of it. It may be my favorite CoC campaign.
@@RPGImaginings I owned the original and (foolishly) got rid of it at some point. Honestly these big CoC campaigns (Mountains of Madness, Orient Express and Masks) are some of the best things every produced by the hobby. The new version of Masks is amazing.
@@ardwulfslair You're preaching to the choir. ;)
Thank you for this. I'm gearing up for a DNR game and bought this on PDF after your review. Thanks!
Having owned Ad Astra's 'Birds Of Prey' game for awhile, I've also been planning on picking up their 'Squadron Strike 2e' space combat title. I see that it now has an expansion for playing Traveller ships in it's 3D tactical system, along with one for Axanar (the Trek indie). Don't wanna break the bank just yet, but it'll happen.
Thought the mention might be a bit relevant to the Traveller capital ship topic.
Now if they could combine this tactical? naval adventure with a applicable land, air and space physical game it would be perfect. Do you conduct these campaigns with maps and counters? Excellent unboxing.. thank you!
That's one of the reasons I was (and remain, to some extent) a big fan of Space Master 2e. Add in Armored Assault and Star Strike and you have all that. IMO, this incarnation of Traveller could use an official space combat boardgamey boxed set, IMO. On the other hand, as NefariousKoel mentions, there is an Ad Astra adaptation.
On the gripping hand, I DO have Mayday. And Fifth Frontier War and Invasion Earth. And... uh, Snapshot and Azhanti High Lightning. There's a lot that could be done by kludging those together.
Not gonna lie, my interest went up when I saw it has a section on procurement and DRMO.
Mongoose company in England, Virtually all printing in China. I liked my Azanti High Lightning map material much better.
Basically all gaming industries print exclusively offshore, usually in China, unless they're printing on demand, for which the economy of scale is quite different. Exceptions are few. This is a fundamental economic issue quite a lot larger than our tiny niche hobbies.
