Making Johto's Gym Leaders as BAD as POSSIBLE
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 сер 2024
- Pokemon Gym Leaders are typically pretty bad, especially in Gold and Silver's Johto region... but what if we made them WORSE? Today we're going to make Johto's gym leaders as pathetic as possible! Poketubers often try to fix these powerful trainers by creating ideal teams, so let's create the worst possible teams instead!

thank u for watching our Comedy Video, shoutout to Falkner for being a good sport
You could've made Metapod weaker by giving it String Shot and Harden, thus reducing the odds that it deals damage. Also, Smeargle can only know one Sketch at a time. If a Pokemon tries to learn a move it already knows, it just skips it.
Falkner's dad wasn't a cheater, he just played Pokemon Yellow and caught the level 9 Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest. It's all good.
THANK YOU!!!
Now thats what I call inter-generational wealth
Yes
So the PIDGEOTTO is the cheater! :P

"Its like having a normal gym leader named Normalina"
" ... Norman?"
"...Okay."
😂
Norman is at least an actual name
Thanks i have no limbs and couldnt see what they said
About the "Dragonbreath is special to Clair"
Her japanese name is "Ibuki".
Dragonbreath in japanese is "Ryuu no Ibuki".
So yeah, her name's "breath" in japanese basically.
It's also her TM in gsc iirc
@@Luigicat117 yup.
Thats some great Pokemon trivia!
This is why she says the TM isn't referring to her, yeah.
@@Duothimir
That bit translates well because "dragonbreath" is slang for bad breath.
Slight correction. I'm pretty sure that Smeargle would only know one instance of Sketch. The games don't allow it to learn the move if it already knows it.
That's true! I just wanted to make the screech and metal sound joke too badly
That is the best justification for being wrong I’ve heard. Just owns it for the sake of the joke.
My joke Normal type gym leaders are all the most fake sounding names that an alien would use as an alias if it was in a comedy movie. So things like Hugh Mann, Jenn Aric, and Tom Ace.
Tom ace? Wasnt that the name ace ventura used at that rich party where he gets attacked by the shark?
@eriktruchinskas3747 it's really funny reading this having no clue what you're talking about 😂

“The Miltank that so many trainers have beef with”
Shannon is that a pun.
Gotta milk those puns as much as possible!

I have an issue with what you guys did to Falkner. Sure, Hoppip and Ledyba ARE FLYING TYPE... But Falkner never claims to be a FLYING TYPE trainer... he claims to be a BIRD trainer. Using his dad's BIRDS. should have replaced it with Natu(notoriously bad at low levels) and Swablu(also terrible at low levels).
If he’s a bird trainer, then why doesn’t he use any bird type Pokemon? Sure, there’s only one, but we know johto doesn’t mind repeats
Swablu is gen 3
@@nightspawnson-of-luna4936 Riolu is gen 4 and Duskull is gen 3.
@@RabblesTheBinx made this comment before they said that everything up to 4
@@everettw.9610true, game freak was missing am opportunity by giving Falkner 2 MissingNo.
Could beat Claire's team by making them take a damn breath mint
The worst humiliation possible in this series is when a gym leader gets to keep one of the pokemons he was using in the game.
Y'know, neat thing about your whole DragonBreath joke with Clair, is:
In the original Gen 2 games, Clair actually gives you the TM for DragonBreath instead of Dragon Pulse, and after giving it to you she literally says "No, it has nothing to do with my breath." It was originally a joke about her Japanese name, Ibuki, possibly meaning "breath", but even then, the breath joke still kinda stands.
Can't wait to see how they manage to make the Kalos gym leaders worse... now _that's_ a challenge
Give Wulfric a *Hisuian* Avalugg instead.
The thing with Shuckle at LV 17, is that it's hard to knock out if you have a similar level to it.
It has 33-39 HP at level 17 (Depending on IVs with 0 EVs), so I guess in the worst case, you'd have to hit it 39 times if you're dealing 1 damage per hit. Oh, she'll probably use a potion when it gets low, that's another 20 HP, and maybe give Shuckle an Oran Berry to really rub it in your face. I guess it's time for little Timmy to learn about status moves then. Fury Swipes would be quite good for once though.
Don't disrespect my boy sunkern, it's one of the strongest pokémon in johto...
At least in the remakes...
During pokeathlon.
this is the epitome of "i can fix her" "i can make her worse"
I just assume Gym Leaders with illegal movesets find thier pokemon on inaccessible routes.
falkners dad gave away his pidgeotto to evade his taxes and commit tax fraud
I issue I have with Falkner's team idea is Falkner isn't just Flying trainer but a bird trainer.
"Naw he also kills it again to get the ghost back"
Oof
I do agree that Meditite is bad. But he does have pure power making its attack stat double its original stat. Thus a base 80 STAB force palm is not as bad as described
Funnily enough, Meditite is actually banned from little cup to this day. That's quite the achievement.
@@Luigicat117to be fair that's also because of EVs also being effectively doubled, which doesn't apply here since npc pokemon don't have EVs iirc(they do have IVs though)
In Gen 2 and 4(HG/SS) Pidgeotto can be caught on route 2 at level 7-10.
Kalos would be fun, as alot of them actually worked hard to have tms
4:49 That toy train station i got for my 3rd birthday back in 2002. Haven't ever seen it anywhere else in all those years!
I still have it stored in a box in my mother's basement somewhere.
7:04 I honestly expected 4 Ghastlies
Smeargle can't have 2 copies of Sketch in its moveset at once, so it would actually be even worse than you guys thought
Jasmine's entire team folds even harder to quilava now 💀
Hey, Bronzor had Heatproof, at least.
You uh, neglected to give Delibird a STAB move
It doesn't learn any by level up
@@chargingbadger867 Oh, god...
Because it doesn't/can't learn any.
@chargingbadger867 it literally learns two moves by level up. But it's a Delibird.
@@Naito115 in gen 4 it only learns present
God, I was so ready for Morty's teams being 4 gastlies. I'm dissapointed
I mean it was level 25, so by the rules, it would’ve been a Haunter anyways
A misdreavus wouldn't have been too bad. Lol
@shardtheduraludon
... the lvl 25 gastly is holding an Everstone
@@james-robertc.f.9942*MINDY!!!*
Yes!!! I was hoping you guys would do more of this series with later gens. Delightful as always.
5:07 Fun fact: since Smeargle in this case wouldn't have learned anything from the first Sketch, it actually can't learn the second Sketch. Just a random tidbit that adds even more uselessness to Whitney's newly "improved" team.
As usual, the banter and script in these videos makes me laugh. Love it. 🧡
12:38 fun fact: in the manga, Pryce does actually use Delibird as one of his main pokemon
I'd say you could have given Chuck a Tyrogue, but then i remembered that it evolves at level 20 based off its attack/defense stats.
Please do a big video after you get through all the regions doing all the elite four members. That'd be funny as hell
Even when making the Johto gym leaders worse Misdreavus gets overlooked smh
It's actually quite decent as a first-stage mon.
once all the gym leaders are done, do the E4 of each game, for the lulz
7:27 Best visual gag in the video here!
Gonna do that for every gym leader from every generation?
The pidgeotto was supposed to be the lvl 9 pidgeotto you can find in viridian forest in yellow version. I can get my own legal lvl 9 pidgeotto in gold and silver by trading, so him getting it from someone else isn't weird
Clair ending up with Dragonbreath on so many Pokemon feels very appropriate considering it was her TM in Gen 2.
Also, what about Janine and Blue?!
It's postgame, so nerfing them is more difficult.
Also, it's postgame.
I love this series, it would be neat using the same rules make the best team foe each leader.
Unfortunately the Revive joke falls apart when you remember Pokemon don't die in battle, they just faint and lose the will to keep fighting. It's not a resurrection, just a "hey get up and get back in the ring".
well, at least they're not stuck with one or two generation Pokémon
Your definitely going to have a hard time with kalos to make them even worse
Two minute video of them saying no notes 8 times
I mean kalos has half decent pokemon they're just powercrept by the megas around them (also having an absurdly low amount of pokemon per gym leader doesn't help)
Hisuian Avalugg is the only obvious one
misleading video, these gym leaders are better
In my head, I never questioned the lvl 13 Pidgeot ‘cause it’s one of those mons you can catch at a lower level than it evolves depending on the game. For example, in gen 1 you can catch if at lvl 9 in viridian forest.
How dare you talk down to my favorite pokemon, trash cloak wormadam. I will send my wormadam army to smite thee
ladybug is Falkners first pokemon, so hoppips defense down dosnt benefit him in any way
Wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this, but glad I stuck around to watch! You guys are genuinely hilarious and I enjoyed this analysis a lot.
Nah you the Pokemon lvl inflation joke was funny as hell, here’s your sub
Falkner’s dad found it in kanto in the forest because you can find a lv8 one because Ash found a Level 8 one.
I would comment on your monumentous achievement of making Johto even worse, if I could stop laughing at your ridiculous jokes XD
You know the funniest thing is Price actually uses a Delibird in the manga. And that Delibird is very badass, he used it to capture Ho-oh (I'm not kidding)
Iron Bundle in disguise
"Known for its notoriously weak gym leaders"
It actually covers both ends of the spectrum since Whitney exists
Whitney isn’t even hard if u use the trade Machop available in the Goldenrod Dept Store lol
What I don't like about this video is that they use mons from other gens. For the main game they should stick with Johto mons and not include gen 4 ones. It takes away from the uniqueness of the game. Even as a what if.
Associates and I were sharing muses on other leaders being garbage based on the prior video. Very entertaining muse you've got here and quite imaginative, good share :D
I love how Pryce goes from piss easy to still piss easy.
You should do this series except do it to every elite four and champion team.
Hey, you only humiliated six of the eight Kanto gym leaders in HG/SS. You can absolutely trash Janine and Blue's team.
Gen 2, despite being generally weak, also has some of the strongest gym leaders ever.
Ok, one thing about Smeargle.... it can only have a Single instance of Sketch at any given time. That and when used, the move it copies, still only has 0 PP out of the amount it would have normally.... meaning Smeargle would go from using Sketch to using Struggle for the rest of the battle, unless holding a Leppa Berry (might do that just to make the fight a bit more interesting)
Also, yall could've popped back into Kanto to at least make Blue & Red weaker
Johto can barely get worse. It's already barely its own region and is more like a discount Kanto. I will acknowledge that Whitney needed to be knocked down a peg.
Bro forgot that whitny exist
hg/ss are my fav pokemon games but why are the gyms so easy and why tf can i only find kanto pokemon on the early routes? its like if gamefreak wanted johto to be a DLC for kanto but dlcs wasnt a thing back them so they made it its own game lol
@@Mr_Death.-. I mean Gold and Silver.. and *maybe* Crystal were meant to be the ends of the series so it makes sense they did "Kanto 2" because that was what they knew sold well and why Johto has like 50 less mons than Kanto, they didn't intend it to be a whole new thing.. also notice how the Johto Gyms cover the types that weren't gyms in Kanto.. as you said it is literally DLC before DLC was a thing.. ignoring the time skip and seeing Kanto again...
I will not stand for this Johto slander!
I didn’t think it was possible to make Faulkner worse
Imagine if someone made a rom hack of HGSS with the ai at max difficulty with each gym leader using these teams. Could they actually put up a fight?
I am glad you're continuing this
This needs to be a romhack ngl. i wanna see someone just do this nuzlocke
Is Meditite really worse than Riolu when you factor in Pure Power? Like it's still not good but with its paltry attack doubled that force palm is going to hurt. Would giving it telepathy be against the rules since it's a hidden ability?
Brilliant video, only point i can think of is that if I'm not wrong doesn't every gym leader have a signiture move which you get as a tm, not saying it has to be factored into the moveset, but would be interesting to see what you class as the signiture move of every gym leader
I mean I suppose it is possible, he only uses Kanto pokemon, so his dad may very well be from kanto, where you can find Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest at a lower level, in pokemon yellow
genuinely cant wait for the eventual paldea video because i want to see how yall can make geeta worse
Imagine playing this johto in a nuzlocke lmao
Yeah, so just changingWhitney,Morty and Claire's teams
I think if you keep going with this series you should make a small addendum to the no TM rule, I think you should consider having to include the TM reward that a gym gives out as possible move.
Thats a good idea!
You two play off each other really well.
You should do the opposite for the Hoenn gym leaders, making them as good as feasibility possible
Bugsy is an insult to Bug Type Gym Leaders like me.
Someone needs to make an hg/ss romhack with these teams and movesets
shedninja with 1hp could be good for morty
I can't wait for next pathetic gyms... actually it just wants me to make simple ROM hack with pathetic gym leaders... and frakingly strong regular trainers.
PS I would love to see the pathetic E4 as well
So the gym leaders is basically tasting what it looks like to have only garbage pokemon a là LeafGreen Garbage Green romhack 😂
Who wants a rom hack with these gym leaders?
As a Meditite fan I feel personally offended. They may seem weak, but they're just too cute and intelligent to fight. They simply don't care about material threats.
This will be hilarious
2:15. Its his dad pidgeotto, rigth? My theory is hes just very old and needs retire. His level is reducted in representation of the avanced age.
Why are 90% of the Johto gym leader pokemon not Johto pokemon 😭. At least give bugsy a ledian and not a fucking metapod!
Next is elite four worsing or post game worsing
It's not possible to make Whitney even weaker. There's a Machop in the same town. A female with an Adamant nature and is obtained via trade.
I would have given Chuck Riolu anyway tbh. Meditite has Pure Power to make up for its low attack stat. Riolu would also have force palm, but no second stab. Its moveset could have been endure, foresight, force palm and feint, all almost useless moves.
You should do this for the Elite 4
You don’t need to make johto gym leaders worse, they are already probably the worst in the series 😂
So jasmine gets a shiny wormadam? Pretty nice
Theres no need. Johto leaders suck as it is. They use more kanto pokemon than JOHTO
3:45
rest in piss shuckle 😭🙏
Im curious if you could do that to the elite four members as well. We can make Bruno even worse
5:06 smeargle cant actualy know more than one sketch at a time, its even worse than it sounds
Level Inflation is Funny
You could have just left them all the same, they’re are already bad
These two sound like sly cooper and Bentley
While I am enjoying the series, there would be a few changes I would make, just to make it harder for these teams to not just be a walk in the park.
1. No repeat of the same evolution line, unless you have no choice. Morty only used Gasty because in Gen 2 the only other Ghost Type was in Mount Silver, hence why he didn't use it.
2. They can use their Gym TM on their team, and the Ace must be able to use it. They have a stockpile of the TM, since they are giving it out on defeat, so they surely will use it.
3. In terms of Base Stat Total (BST), the lowest BST goes to the lowest Level and the highest BST goes to the highest Level. Yes, the objective is to make them as bad as possible, but 95% of trainers will train their stronger Pokemon to be higher Levels than their other Pokemon. We are trying to make them worse, not have them work at my old workplace that used to specialize in hiring people with disabilities. But, to compensate for all these buffs, we are going to turn them into Easy Mode.
4. All their Pokemon would get a Level Reduction, that being half their Badge Number rounded up. So, badges 1 and 2 lose 1 Level, Badges 3 and 4 lose 2, so on. Why would this make sense? Well, I see these Gym Leaders not using these teams against regular trainers, but again the 4 year old using his parents pokemon, so of course they are going to go easier on them.
And those would be the changes I would make for the series. Let me know if you like these changes.
I wonder what the odds are that they just don’t change the johto leaders
