- Dan Inosanto: He rose to fame as Bruce Lee's close friend and sparring partner, but over the decades, he has become a man in his own right. He is only one of the chosen few to pass on the philosophies of Bruce Lee, but he is also the biggest advocate for Filipino Stick Fighting (Kali). He is the trainer of champions and key historical figures including kickboxing great Graciela Casillas, Richard Bustillo, Jeff Imada, Chai Sirisute and many more.
In fact, his daughter, Diana Lee Inosanto just became part of the Star Wars family with her role in Mandalorian. Enjoy this historical interview given to us by permission from Team Karate Centers (Fariborz Azhakh).

Thanks to Sifu/Guro Dan Inosanto for exploring, training, teaching, and spreading the Filipino Martial Arts to the another level in across the world as well as my Kababayang (Fellow Countryman in Filipino) Filipino.
Really nice interview....Before he passed away last year LEO FONG spoke to me in facebook P Messages about the problems Sifu Dan talks about regarding the different America in the 1950s and 1960s with racism.....I think people like Bruce , Sifu Dan and Leo did a lot to challenge & change a lot of negative things out there. Kareem did too. Really nice that through Bruce he got to meet movie greats like Steve McQueen and James Coburn. Sorry to hear how much sifu Dan suffered when he lost his great Martial Art Brother in Arms. But we will never forget & always remember the great Pioneers of major Paradigm shift in Martial Art.
This is Michael Matsuda from the Martial Arts History Museum. Back in 1983, after I finished getting my journalism degree, I wanted to write for the martial arts magazines. Since I was already working with John Stewart from Inside Kung Fu on a piece on my teacher, he gave me the opportunity to write my first article. An interview with Dan Inosanto, 10 years after Bruce. That's when I met Dan Inosanto for the first time. It became the cover story. It was such a great honor for me to continue writing for Inside Kung Fu and Black Belt magazine for a total of 20 years. But, I will never forget my first interview with the man...I still have the tape of the interview.
