    On the etymology of the word "rucksack:" the word seems to have its roots well back into mid 19th century German, with the first instance appearing in English in 1866.

      My first "big boy" pack was an M42 Mountain Rucksack, which is essentially a Bergan in a GI uniform. Thanks for watching!

      Its a long term project of mine. The difficulty is that the "language" one uses verbally is quite different than when written. I find myself having to translate myself.
