Dude youre the best. I just picked up one of these as my first bike. Its a little rough off but a 500$ is a 500$ bike. I got told it needed the carbs to be synced and thought it would be the same as my old 70 fury. Hadnt gotten to checking but got told its way more complicated. Nope. Same thing but now i have 4 throttle screws to adjust. Thank you so much. Just saved me idefk how much money on a mechanic. Also on your other video i didnt even know about the oil for the shaft. Or that it would be an 80w90 for that matter. Ya saved me there too. Cheers mate! You deserve way more subs.
Thanks for this video. It's difficult to get info on older carbs. I serviced my '82 Yamaha XJ750J carbs since the engine side boots were cracked. I still have the issue of only getting half choke travel and then it seems to not do anything beyond that so starting in cold weather is a problem. I can still cover the intake to the airbox and it keeps running. Choking off the air at the airbox should kill the engine but it doesn't. The carbs were extremely clean when I took them apart and I replaced the jets and seats. I guess I have an air leak somewhere but not sure what it could be. I do need to synch and adjust float levels and probably check valve clearances. Any thoughts on the potential leak are appreciated.

Hey from Auckland New Zealand cheers brother extremely helpful I've just got a 1981 Yamaha XJ750 massive help as the main problem she has is dirty carbs 🍻
Yes I do. You’ll find it on our eBay store: Thanks for the comment! Let us know if there is anything we can help with. Check out: ua-cam.com/video/X0AdFxkJiOg/v-deo.html for more tips. And: www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports for all your parts.
So that looks exactly like the carbs i pulled off my 1980 maxum 650, but the carb rebuild kit i bought does not match up with the jets or needles i have in the carbs
Excellent video. Clear and concise. Next step/video would be reinstall and adjustments. Especially the top hidden screws on the engine side -something about emissions. My 750 Maxim just has never liked to idle consistently (stall, too high, stall, too high. etc.) and also has an rpm hang that is way too long. I have had these carb units off for as thorough a clean as can be, but at the end of the day, I just can't get it to behave. I am too stubborn to pay the money to a bike shop.
I know this is an older post but I have a maxim 750 and I took the carbs apart 5 years ago. I have all the parts but the bowl was seized on and I had to tap with a mallet. Broke one of the posts for the float. I couldn’t get the bike to start as it hadn’t ran for 15 years. Do you have any suggestions for rebuild? Or should I just looks for a new set?
I have an xj750 ... The same carb you just worked on. I had someone clean it for me and the adjusted screws from the top by removing the diaphragm but I'm not sure which ones. No it run like crap. Any suggestions?
Thanks for watching and the comment. Should work for you! Let me know if you have any questions during the rebuild. Also don't forget to pick up this before you start: amzn.to/4aa47BY

So useful man. Thanks from New Zealand.
Yay. New Zealand rocks my socks off! Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot, great video. I need to split my carbs, the butterfly valves are seized. Would be great to see a video on splitting them up.

Very nice video, very in-depth. I just picked up one of these bikes. Anyone know where I can get a starter motor for it?

Does the 650 carbs have that small spring below the diaphragm screw.I don’t remember seeing a small spring under all four carbs.
I clean the carbs even ultrasonic. But i am not getting fuel to the Bowl
Sounds like you’ve got issues with your fuel petcock valve. Let me know if you need any help or parts www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports

Do you know where to get those diaphragms I have a 1982 XJ 750 maxim and they are next to impossible to find.
