What a gorgeous setting!! I loved your splodge and scribble. That was such a beautiful beach with the little houses and the flowers and greenery. The second beach in the video was also beautiful and also the areas where you and the other students went to do your quick drawings. I’ve never done anything like that with just a black marker and quick notes. Was it stressful to draw that quickly and know that you could only get a bit of information down in a short amount of time? I’m such a slow artist. Your class looks wonderful! I loved your paintings. I hope you have a wonderful time and I look forward to seeing more of your class. 😊
Yes, St. Ives is a gorgeous location - it has so many different gorgeous interesting parts! No, it didn't feel at all stressful sketching like that - it was lovely to chuck something on paper and not be worrying about if it was 'good' or not. Thanks ever so much!

It looks lovely there. What a great place for an art school. The quick sketches with the sharpie were a good idea. I seem to have issues with preliminary sketches. I either don't do them or they end up underneath my finished art piece, where you can't see them. I spent the weekend before my school certificate art portfolio was due to be handed in, creating a book of preliminary sketches for the finished works already in my portfolio lol. My friends were putting last minute touches to their portfolio work and thought I was mad 😂 I guess if I'd realized I had to hand in a book of doodles with the portfolio I might have done that as I went long through the year but I was purely focused on the end portfolio.
Haha!!! Love it!! I've filled nearly 2 sketchbooks in two days, and I love using them for the simplified paintings we're doing. Stops you getting too detailed.
I like the idea of the fast sketching I guess it stops you over complicating things,and of course I love the s&s ❤️ enjoy the rest of your course,it looks very relaxed and good fun.
You did so many sketches and your paintings are stunning Helen! Porthmeor beach is one of my favourites. I hope you don’t mind me saying🫣 it’s pronounced without the o. There are a lot of places in Cornwall that aren’t pronounced as we see them.😘🤗xx

They are soooo helpful for using for the paintings, which we are trying to keep really simple - the lack of detail really helps.
