I would have never thought that this video would get as much attention as it did. Perhaps I can make some more piano covers of Aphex twins Ambient scores. Perhaps stone in Focus or Lichen. Another thing I've been thinking about was 65daysofstatics Radio proctector.
UPDATE: I did the Stone in Focus cover: ua-cam.com/video/sgLZXs8H4xI/v-deo.html&ab_channel=xNyghtfall
UPDATE January 2021: Thank you all again for listening to my cover! I made this entirely using my electrical keyboard, I just extended the reverb digitally because, sadly, my Electrical Keyboard cannot sustain long enough to make some of the tiny nuances work. Since then I've moved on to a more mixed version between electronic and more analogue music. I've even used a DAW since then in my "Neverending Fog" song to make drumloops! (crazy, I know). Lichen is still on my list of songs to cover and I'm sure I'll get to it (eventually, it's a bit more complicated than the previous two) but I am not against covering other artists that maybe have a similar style. I'd rather not cover whole Piano songs (say, Avril 14th for example) because I feel like there would really no point in that (this is also the reason I decided against doing Radio protector). I understand most of you are more interested in my AFX Covers and not as much into my original music so Instead I'd like to ask you to suggest songs that you think might fit a "conversion" to my style. Feel free to shoot me ideas you have!
Again. Thank you all so so much for still listening to this. If you'd like to connect I'm a lot more active on twitter than I used to be (@Nyghtfall1), I'm not that much of a discord guy. Just keep in mind that my main thing is another UA-cam Channel about Gaming and video essays. I also stream sometimes on that T-website UA-cam hates so much. Still, it's where I'll post updates about music, too if there is something to say.
Again. Thank you everyone!
A lot of people have been asking for piano scores, sadly this is entirely done by ear. The only thing I can do for people asking about this is link you this pianos core I found www.jellynote.com/en/sheet-music/aphex-twin/rhubarb#tabs:A I didn't use this but maybe this can help some of you out there. The main five chords I personally used were.
A,D, F#
F#,A,C#
A,C#,E
E,G#,B
D,F#,A
xNyghtfall I'd die to hear lichen 0;
STONE IN FOCUS PLEASE
xNyghtfall This is so beautiful. Thank you.
Please do lichen, rhubarb and stone in focus are great!
Absolutely beautiful !!!
still in 2019, listening to the waves while rhubarb plays in the back. making me float trough the troubles ive had, all the people ive seen and feelings ive broken. this keeps me soft and warm knowing not everything is wrong in the world and i can keep a good grasp to it still remember good old times when i was naiive and soft inside. Not given up on life as such as others do or depression and lonelyness taken a grasp of me totally. knowing im not alone anymore in the world by realizing that there is still more to do. im exhausted deeply inside and my mind grown numb feelings floating around me and being confusing. im not going to give up as i stand tall and keep on living and finally seeing where my road takes me as it all ends.
Thank you for sharing this and thank you for listening. I'm grateful you enjoyed it this much!
Achingly beautiful. I love this so much. It is a perfect blend of hope and despair but not in equal proportions. It is weighted towards despair and all of its hopefulness is rooted in melancholy.
Thank you so so much. I always apreciate when people share these things.
sounds like my personality 😎👌🏽
Satie would approve without hesitation. Fantastic feel and arrangement. Thank you for this!
Thank you so much for listening
Quality comparison 😎
This one song has been so meaningful to me for years. There is a particular place in my mind dedicated to the world that this song creates. Like an eternal peace and silence. Thank you for this beautiful rendition.

+angryfrenchduck Thank you so much! I don't get a lot of comments and I apreciate every single one :)
good ear, good eye. the video captures the essence of child-bound nostalgia. or it's just me...
+Leon Czernecki Thank you for commenting! I recorded this video in Summer 2014 during my stay here: kellenhusen.de/
gone there every year for atleas 10 years I believe. So in a sense, it's not just you :)
Seems like a lovely place. It reminded me how long it is since I last visited seashore. Time for a change, perhaps. Thank you!
Do you mind if I use this in an upcoming video? It was played so beautifully.
Go ahead! link me when you upload it, I'd love to check it out
if you slow it down by 70% it sounds like a minecraft song or a direct portal to the sweet, rose tinted past
This is profoundly beautiful; please, can I have the sheet music for this? It is extremely important to me...
Thank you so much! I wish I could provide sheet music but this was entirely done by ear. But the main five chords for the main melody I used in this are
A,D, F#
F#,A,C#
A,C#,E
E,G#,B
D,F#,A
Do you know what they change to when the melody changes?
As in, when you switch to the higher pitch
Thank you dude :D
@@NyghtfallMusic d major (inverted), f minor, a major, e major, d major
This is great! Where was the video shot? It looks like Sandbanks
Hey! Sorry it took to long to get back to you, This was shot at a small beach resort in Northern Germany called "Kellenhusen" It's been a frequent vacation spot for me since my childhood
@@NyghtfallMusic cool!! Thanks and keep it up!!
@@adamsubtract81 Sandbanks in Ontario, Canada? It's cool to see it mentioned. I visited a couple years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.
@@davidn.8976 haha no unfortunately not, i was referring to Sandbanks in Dorset, England
Gorgeousness and gorgousity made flesh. Do you have a piano score?
Evan Mansell Like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship.
Well said
Great job on this! Do you think you could make a MIDI file for this? I would greatly appreciate it if you could. It wouldn't be too hard, you would just have to plug in a keyboard to your computer and play the song. Thanks a million!
I don't think I can, What I did was I listened to Rhubarb a bunch of times from different people in different versions and read the Selected Ambient Works II book that explains a little of the mechanics of this particular song and using that I did a single take of the things I could do with two hands, added reverb and added the few parts I needed an extra hand for, but ALL of it was done pretty much intutively, Like I don't think I could play this again the same way, it just flows naturally, all my music is like that. Sometimes I'd use notes or chords that aren't actually in Rhubarb but I just put it in as I play, I don't think I could recall those for example.
i got midi for this
Way more chilling than Come To Daddy.
Where was this video recorded at?
sorry it took me sooo long to get to you! For some reason I didn't recieve a message from your comment, you probably don't care anymore but this was filmed at a tiny beach resort in Germany called "Kellenhusen"
Does this make anyone else think about GTA 4 and Niko a little bit?
No
something seems out of time? amazing production though
+Ste Bishop out of time? You mean it's not within a beat? Yes, that is most likely true. I didn't use a metronome for it. Thank you for listening though! I will try to improve. I didn#t have a lot of time recently to make music
I think this is actually more in time than the original, which is possibly what you're hearing. It's incredible to hear someone come so close, but it would take programming or something to get the precise, subtle ritardando Richard uses at the end of each repetition.
That font at the beginning had me ready for a horror movie, not beautiful music
Honestly, I don't even fully remember why I picked that font, glad you gave it a chance though :)
@@NyghtfallMusic the music is quite nice, thank you for doing it
beautiful
+Urine Denial Thank you so much!
