Honestly if you give it a shot and the Manga/Anime really goes in your favour. Most likely you will feel an aura finishing it cause the characters are true "characters" and seeing their story practically ending will genuinely feel like seeing your childhood friend turn into a "Last seen 5 years ago"

@@nande9817 if you're on phone, I recommend you to install Tachiyomi, it's a very great app, it's got a lot of sites covered, just install the plugins/"catalogues" for the specified site and you're good to go, you can probably find any manga you want to read on that app, including GTO ofc

Edit: Saw a comment saying it sounded like he read the sequel instead of the original. I realized that too, but kinda assumed he read the original (not talking about Shonan Junai Gumi). But, if you haven't, then highly suggest that since it's the best incarnation of Onizuka and his stories from what I'm aware.

it sounds like you read GTO paradise lost at the beginning which is the sequel of the original GTO if you haven't read the original id recommend it it's better than paradise lost

i mean for me my favorite is my best but overall if i rank my top 10 favorite and top 10 best the lists would be completely different.

Especially the top 10. I wouldn't put anything less than amazing in a top 10 of mine. For example, Blade of the Immortal is my favorite manga precisely because it's the best manga I've read.
@@JayfroC idk in my top 10 favorites bleach will always be there as I just love the fight scenes and artwork. But it will never be in my top 10 best because even though I enjoyed. A lot there are a lot of works better then it.

My first manga as well after I finished the anime though I read vol1 then started Shonan junai gumi (onizuka’s high school days) which is really nice as well.
Havent finish it yet but Onizuka is so well written
Saw the thumbnail and I absolutely love Great Teacher Onizuka. Onizuka is such a relatable guy and you reminded me to finish it. I only read half of it and now I need to catch up. Thank you so much. I forgot how great it was when I read it.
Read GTO: The Early Years as well, it was before when Onizuka was a student and its my favorite of the GTO series

This manga has everything whether it be comedy or action or philosophy. It is pretty dark at times too. I was happy,sad, frustrated,amazed while reading it. One of the best manga I have ever read

I'm from France, and the dub for gto is really good in french, so almost every new anime fan has gto amongst their first animes.
It is indeed one of the most hilarious anime/manga.
Be sure to read Kamen Teacher! Because the Lost Paradise manga seems to make a crossover that makes the Kamen Teacher manga canon to GTO xD
Also there is shonan 13 days, Demon head gargoyle, great transporter ryugi, Black Diamond, Young GTO and Bad Company... man the GTO universe is so much more expanded than one would think..
Hey, from the opening lines and synopsis you give in your video, it seems you’ve read the spin-off series “Paradise Lost”. I just wanted to let you know the main series is also really good and focuses on more problematic children rather than idols, giving a wider birth of subject matter.
If you haven’t read the vanilla series, I highly recommend it.

@@newt3520 The anime and manga are very different from each other. The manga is roughly 3 times the length of the anime and has a lot more to offer. Like things the anime left out and an entirely different ending. I would recommend you read the original GTO manga and then you can read the sequel Paradise Lost.

I have owned this series for over 5 years now and Iv always brought it up to people and nobody ever knows about it. I’m so happy that you finally discovered it. Whenever I first got into GTO I was the same exact age that he is in the story so it was as relatable as anything ever could be. It’s top tier and I’m excited for the day that I go back and pick it up again.
I watched the anime years ago and holy shit man it still holds up. Didnt know till recently about the anime changes so now reading the manga for everything that i missed.
I think you read GTO: Paradise Lost Instead of The Original GTO
@Nasser Al-balushi The original great teacher onizuka is when he started to be a teacher and changed the students lives in the class but gto - paradise lost is when onizuka is in prison and tells stories about when he was a teacher and then goes to the present time with problems in the prison and how he was framed and is innocent and I think the reason why stories are being told is because that builds to the point where he gets framed.(I’m sorry I’m pretty bad at explaining stuff)

GTO, I remember watching it for the first time and after I finished it I wanted more and gave the manga a read. It’s such a good manga/anime and it’s just so nostalgic to me.

Masked apparently you read the sequel of GTO lol. You need to check once. Og GTO is not about "idols". It's normal students as far as i remember.
You might be right. I just read the synopsis of GTO Paradise Lost, and it says Onizuka is a prisoner and talks about stories of an idol class, which is what masked man described happened
Onizuka is the type of series where I just look at it and say 'This is a classic. Period.'

When you remembered he only had one week to prepare for a national exam. Started the exam late to save a girl from kidnapping. Did the exam at a reduced time while having severe injuries. Yet still score a perfect score

@@felmonmadronio6730 the principal did it for him. However, after one of his student checked Onizuka's actual answer, he was surprised with the result, implying he did really well in the exam
@@felmonmadronio6730 They never say it directly, but Kikuchi checks his stolen exam afterwards and is surprised at the actually score.
Then he asks Onizuka what he thinks he 'really' got, and Onizuka confirms it. A perfect score.

Man, I'm studying Secondary Education major in Social Studies because of him, really inspired me, because I was also hated my teachers and until now I can remember the feelings of being hated. So if ever I become a teacher in the future I'll never do what I experienced with my students in the future
i highly recommend checking out the gto live action its really good has a different plotline than manga and anime but its rlly good

I don't know if you have read the original Great Teacher Onizuka manga but it was published 1999.
if you didn't read it then I highly recommend doing so.
Yeah all the cover art he showed throughout the video was from paradise lost and not the original GTO.
Also have read Shonan Junai gumi? It was released before GTO and it tells the story of when Onizuka was part of the onibaku gang with Ryuji. I definitely recommend it.

You don't know how happy I am how more and more people are recognizing this masterpiece. This manga just made me more forgiving of teachers and given more hope that there are genuine people out there, really concerned about their students.

I finished this series a couple of months ago and I wish everyone had an onizuka as their teacher. There are I think two series that take place before this that take place while he was in the motorcycle gang and another when he was in middle school. There is a sequel where he's in prison. but yeah this was a great read and rip the principle's Cresta

As an older otaku, I find when newer manga (and anime) readers getting into series that I had displayed on my manga shelf for over ten years ago.
I almost wish that I could take a pic right not but my bottom shelf is GTO, Berserk, Hellsing, HxH, Kenshin, and weirdly enough Psychic Academy (the OG HeroAca with a lot more fan service).

For people on the line about reading this series, the only thing I think you need to do is WATCH THE FIRST OPENING
The anime is pretty outdated but the first opening theme for the show captures the vibe of the series perfectly. Not to mention the song "Drivers High - L'arc en Ciel" is a awesome damn song. I even went as far as listening to it while reading!
I really miss this type of anime/manga. This show feels real, dark at time but at the same time very funny and goofy. I would love to see the anime return and follow the manga to the end

to understand the whole saga you should read all the mangas of the GTO universe in order. 1) GTO bad company. 2) GTO Shonan Junai Gumi. 3) GTO. 4) GTO Shonan 14 Days. 5) GTO Paradise Lost. reading it complete is very important ... indeed, it should be illegal not to read all of them
It is true that Bad Company is the first timewise but it was done later so the first you should read is Shonan Junai Gumi
(Also there is Ino-Head Gargoyle that is a spin off but a great one)

From the sounds of it you read the continuation which is GTO paradise lost, not the the og GTO so I recommend you get on that
