    the fact that white people, especially white women, are so comfortable mocking and disrespecting black women but then turning around pressed to look like us always makes me laugh. The entire black barbie argument was not that you couldn't like or sing the song. It's not offensive or racist to sing the song, but the entire part the black barbie song was trending was to UPLIFT black women, yet it's nothing but white women on the top of the sound claiming they're black barbies when they are not. White people get so mad when they aren't included in shit, like pls go tf away and let us have something.

That response is absolute tomfoolery, but guess what Bethany, they also aren’t white. So by that same logic, white creators also should not be cosplaying Asian characters.

    • @Thesilentvoice...
      @Thesilentvoice... 3 роки тому +39

      I hate his because those characters in anime aren’t white either, but you don’t see any of them caring when other white people cosplay. Or when any other race cosplays it’s crickets until it’s black people. I don’t hear the Japanese Asian people complaining about cosplay, and it’s their characters so white people shouldn’t. Sometimes they act like the own anime when it comes from Japan and even then they don’t gatekeep their art from the world.

    As I continue to go on tiktok I have realized I have gained so much confidence from watching black women and other poc women. I am 19 yr old black girl and tiktok is the first social media app that helped me embrace who I am rather than wanting to be someone who I’m not. I have always been aware of racism/prejudice/and mistreatment of minority groups. I do not think of myself as ignorant but on tiktok people are so quick to be racist or act in any other negative way. Like I go through accounts and all their content is blunt racism and anti-blackness and I get so disgusted. It makes me so self-aware, and it makes me REALLY ACKNOWLEDGE that certain people will look at me and just see my blackness and just make bad assumptions.

    A lot of people here might not be that interested in this, but there are a lot of black cosplayers and black creators who make anime related content that really get (sugar honey ice tea) on all the time. When someone makes a fannon where a character is black, the Christopher Columbus stans will lose their minds. If anyone should complain, it would be asian people because that is where the art originated but its really these mayo muskrats getting upset.
    There is also a lot of people who hate when people make wattpad stories where y/n is a black woman or black person. They will be in the comments like "[enter character name here] wouldn't even like black people. They would call you slurs" and im just confused because they will really talk themselves out of believing that a fictional character could POSSIBLY like black people. Y'all probably don't care, I just see it a lot and im tired.

The cosplay was so good but ppl were attacking her and saying shes “Black-Washing” the character. But last I check…the character is Asian but you got all these white cosplayers cosplaying as that character. So wouldn’t that be white-washing🤔???? Another thing this reminds me of is whenever it’s Blacktober month and I see black creators you know reimagining anime characters as black, oh they get called all types of slurs. But if someone calls out all the times white ppl have white washed people in movies and shit even in our own history (*cough* *cough* portraying Ancient Egyptians as white *cough*) then they’re wrong???

They always use the excuse "X character isn't black, you shouldn't dress as them" but white cosplayers do not get even a tenth of the shit that black cosplayers do when a majority of anime characters (the subject of most cosplay) are asian. So white people can dress as FICTIONAL asian characters but black can't because "they aren't the same race"? Utter bullshit. In conclusion, why are people so all up in black folks' business where we can't even enjoy our nerdy bullshit in peace 🙄
