This wasn't Whitney 's best performance but she is still the greatest singer on the planet, and I love her...I'm so glad she's making a BIG comeback I've always had faith in Whitney!!
kazakhstan 2008. the road hasn't been smooth. we can pray, but we need to be realistic too. she wasn't sober at the grammys THIS YEAR, when she presented the award to jennifer hudson. i agree, we should stay positive and encouraging as fans, but keep it real. if she's still using, it doesn't do her or anybody any good to look the other way. i hope she keeps on top of her sobriety. as such, she doesn't owe me one more song, since she's given us all more than enough already.
nope. it's the commercial CD. whitney sang LIVE and the band played along with the studio recording, which you can still hear playing on the camcorder version, faintly. so, in post-production, they would find moments where she wasn't her best, and replace it with the CD, so, the sound on GMA is of them ping-ponging back and forth - LIVE-CD-LIVE-CD, etc... where it doesn't match, they'd either go to very wide shots or show her from the back, so you wouldn't see her lips out of sync.
This sounds better than the dubbed version…not sure why they dubbed it - especially because all you focus on is the dubs when they pop in instead of the performance - kind of defeats the purpose.
I am sorry the sound is bad and I can not really hear her voice, but I know she is the best and she will be back on top! This is one of my favorite songs.
i see what you did. at 3.19, you go back to the GMA sound - the aired version, which is why that final "Tell Me No" chorus is so smooth. weird. i remember when this first aired, and i remember thinking then that i could tell they were substituting the studio recording for the live vocal, during the chorus - very skillfully done, but still obvious. i was at the GMA performance in Central Park two mornings ago, and they pulled that same clean-up trick when it aired yesterday morning.
So this is the propper live Audio without the overdubbs They did the same thing with I Look To you in 2009. It was not discrete at alll and was easy to hear. Why bother.
im sorry but whitney has never been a dramatic coloratura soprano...she was a spinto when she was young and slowley her voice darkened to a mezzo by the mid 90's. mariah is more considered a dramatic coloratura for her flying velocity and low depths and fullness when it comes to her head and chest voice.
let him who's with out sin cast the first stone...she paid for her mistake....why not celebrate her as an individual bouncing back, saying NO to death! she chose to live. Come on!
@deantammyspain200 ok she made her choices and suffered the consequences from this, but anyone who is diva, leave to be one. She maybe will not sing as old days and in my opinion even she didn't have involved with drugs she wouldn't sing as before, but diva she is always be, because she did great things for the music. Things that many popstars today have not done.
YUPnNOpe is right. Overall, she's gotten worse. Even with some of the marginally decent performances this year, none of them have had as much confidence and power as those "Tell Me Nos" in the chorus.
VERY sneaky. some of that is probably due to whitney herself too, since her two-days-after-crack-is-whack interview voice back in 2002 was in sharp contrast to her "Tell Me No" studio voice. this time around, the studio vocals weren't as ambitious, so it was a better match to her skill level, live. but you're right...very sneaky this time. if i hadn't been there, i might not have noticed, and even still, there are parts i'm not sure about without the side-by-side comparison.
Kandi Burress From Xscape wrote this and our beautiful Whitney sangs it. ❤️❤️miss you Whitneyyy
Very true, Morocco was pretty good. And I love her recent performance on Oprah! She's back, and doing a lot better than expected.
jaquen1977 this makes me sad to see now
This is 2002.
This video & comment were posted when she was alive @@akakigalashvili7322

Even at the lowest point of her career Whitney is still a great performer.

Her voice sounds a little raspy here in spots but overall very powerful and confident. She hasn't sounded like this recently.
was this the audio broadcast or is this a "bootleg" from the audience?

The album was moved up. It is actually August 31 release.
Thanks anyway!
Classic

Live always sounds this way anyways she looks great and shes on the road back and thats all that matters.
