The GTO was just to ugly for most people even though it was a great platform. The Pontiac G8 looked great and ran great but they killed Pontiac before the car really took off. Gary Gary , yep , I remember that , all the Chargers were shitting on the v8 powered cars , mainly `cos they just took off , while the v8`s were wheel spinning going nowhere , what a laugh !!
For a Falcon XR6 Turbo anywhere from 8-45k depending on year (2002-2015) for a F6 which is slightly better about 15-55k again depending on age of car in aussie dollars. No idea import cost though.
Dont need a turbo engine. Just buy an na engine for $2-500aud. Put a set of rods and pistons on it, real st in florida sell manley rods / cp pistons. Head and main studs are just normal arp fastners, and you have a solid engine. Someone is making 1280whp using 625 fastners with manley/manley setup on stock port & cam fg motor, stock main caps, stock girdle.
Eli. You can pick up an N/A 4 litre Barra for around AUD$150.( From the BA series Falcon ) Turbo versions a lot more expensive. All the good bits are available from Atomic, Plazmaman etc ( See some of the youtube clips ) Great engine, strong, economical on fuel for cruising, then all hell breaks loose when you give it some nail ( a boot full of throttle etc ) with the right combination. Would scare the shit out of the public at the lights with 400kw + hush power.Bloody good sleeper !!!!

Damn those cars are good looking!!
4L inline 6... it's madness... 1JZ is only 2.5L - 2JZ only 3L....
+AMYAS Seek Truth (RX8 1JZ)
Yes. They are effortless to drive, huge torque down low.
Fullboost The sound of these Barras... simply amazing! Keep the uploads coming, happy subscriber!
AMYAS Seek Truth you do realize for the longest time... ford ran a 4.9 liter 300 inline 6 in most entry level fords.
gizmo98632 I did know this. Thanks - it's insane
While that's true, the N/A versions of the Barra engine used in the current Falcons make significantly more power and a bit more torque.
Now thats an Ecoboost!
The Australian 2JZ

Esses xr6 ai sao o bixo. Aqui na australia vc ve um em cada esquina
The Barra was beating all of the v8s just like back in the 70's when the Chrysler hemi 265 was beating all of the 305's and other v8 contenders
Gary Gary , yep , I remember that , all the Chargers were shitting on the v8 powered cars , mainly `cos they just took off , while the v8`s were wheel spinning going nowhere , what a laugh !!
Yeh,just had to hope there wasn't any corners
Barra, best 6 ever built
i wonder how much it will cost me to import one of these into the u.s. I really want one for my f-100 "pickup"
For a Falcon XR6 Turbo anywhere from 8-45k depending on year (2002-2015) for a F6 which is slightly better about 15-55k again depending on age of car in aussie dollars. No idea import cost though.
Can probably find an engine for a couple of grand though
Why is Ford an american brand but yet you guys get all the shit engines
Love the turbo fords
God I wish these where in the states. Ive wanted one of these SO BADLY ever since I first gazed my eyes on one playing NFS:HP2.... ah the days....
Edit: just realized it was a TS50 in the game but still, those barra engines are MONSTERS!’n
Barra Swap LLC 👍
I wish we still made these here in Australia
At the end of the day,
they still sound like a vacuum cleaner.😂
But you'll still be seeing their tail lights in the quarter mile
Have u not heard a v6 commodore mate 😂😂😂🤦♂️
Australia best kept secret
I'd kill for one of those Ford falcon ute truck things with the turbo barra motor. As an American I can say I'm jealous.
Golden engines. Still waiting to see one in an FD - 2J's pale in comparison. Do people stroke these engines (not that you need to)??
No they de-stroke them for rpm, there are 3.7-3.8 aftermarket billet cranks available.
Fullboost I actually knew that but wasnt sure if there were reasons for wanting to go up in capacity. I trust its ultimately power inhibitive to do so.
thank you ford australia, for ridiculously overbuilding this monster
Engine so powerful the car wobbles down the track haha
Imagine getting passed by something that has rear tail lights that look like an 04 Taurus
Someone swapped this in a skyline 😂
That's stickin the knife in. Barra in a Commodore 6:48
Owned mine since it was one month old , Still a work in progress ! BA MKII , live across the road from the beach swapping lots of panels .
Aiming for 600kw atw coming very soon .
Ford needs this in the Ecoboost Mustang!
barras are underrated.
The barra is 1 or my favroute engines
