Sounds like a lovely, down-to-earth guy in the way British musicians can be, without all the bullshit. And he's considered one of the best slap-bass guitarists in the world - a big part of what made Level 42=Level 42 and their distinctive sound, along with the keyboardist Mike Lindup. I'm glad they can ride the wave of wealthier middle-aged people and their hankering for nostalgia too.
Their early albums from 1981 to 1984 are far more interesting than what they did later on in my opinion, but the later albums were more successful because they appealed to North Americans.
Lovely Sarah Cox, I met her whilst working, she spoke to me and asked me a question about something and looking up at her, knowing others hadn't clocked her my jaw hit the floor. I stammered out something like 'Sorry I was just a bit star struck then' and helped her. Mark King what a legend, oddly enough it was on the Isle of Wight I met Sarah Cox too!
Mark is such a down to earth guy. I could sit with him in a pub or just at home with a good glas of wine and talk about the common things in life and without mentioning his life as an artist and the band he's in.
The World Machine tour was the fist time I saw them, Nov 4th 1985 at Portsmouth Guildhall, which is a home gig for the band and they were frigging awesome.
Poor Mark couldn't finish a sentence! She'd ask a question then talk over him while he's trying to answer...aaaaarrrrgh!! Good on him for keeping it cool and kind!
a HUGE fan of these guys from Canada... Summer of 2019 finally got to see them live in Quebec City Summer Fest... although they did not play my favourites, still what a blast it was to see them on stage! ... Finally!
I want a poster of the creepy eye stare, When he was up above the stained glass, Momentarily looking at the people, Then turning around with this creepy stare it was excellent so well done! 👌 Like a pausing thought... And I would love to get a high definition Dvd of that video
I enjoyed this interview. I thought Mark and Sarah had a good rapport. Interviewers are supposed to guide the interview, to get the interviewee to answer selected questions.
You don't need to act someone you're not to be magnetic. People like Bowie or Alain Delon or Sting can even speak with their eyes alone... Mark King's simply a tre British down-to-earth man, yet he's magic the same way he used to be. Of course, when they're live or playing in a video or posing for pics, well, they get cooler, but this works as well with, say, The Police: Sting's a magnetic guy but he looks even cooler when he's being pictured in a photograph along with Stewart and Andy. The Police inspired my looks all my life indeed. But Level 42 are still so underrated... And I also like the fact he loves 'Holding Back the Years' because both songs (talking about 'Something About You') stem from the same period and both bands became a sensation there and then. Wish I'd followed Level 42 from the early '80s though...
it's a shame that this group never really got their their comeuppence. they really were a great pop group. Kudos to the interviewer here... she's very good at her job.
She’s definitely not a good interviewer, she needs to learn how to how to ask proper questions and allow him to speak and go more into detail, talks too, too much.

Now that Mark has announced the 'new brass section'......this has made Level 42 even better. Love Mark King. Great musician.....

So modest - he's every bit as much of a legend as those he talks of with reverence.
Absolutely!!!
I listened to this interview on BBC radio 2 , when my life was in a very dark place. It was a shining light. Ty Sara Cox and Mark King.
I hope things worked out
Mark is such a down to earth guy. I could sit with him in a pub or just at home with a good glas of wine and talk about the common things in life and without mentioning his

Such a huge fan of Mark and all of the history of his and Level 42!
Mark is amazing ❤❤
Love Mark King and Level 42, so down to earth and such a legend bass player. Great interview with Sarah.
Love him ❤️
It's crazy to be that good at something. Top of his game.

Great interview by fab presenter Sara and ⭐Mark 👑
Looking back "Something About You" was a pretty dark video..
Mark King looked a little bit like PennyWise.
I thought it was dark back then. It really stands out among other vids. Classic song...
Saw them live in 1986 and 2004. Best group ever
Such a great music video, Mark’s great and all. ✌️😙
when I was young I wanted to be Mark King :-)
Great album! I had the cassette. On road trips i listened end to end. The whole album was good.
Cherie Lunghi in the video.
Boon in a Shelby AC Cobra.
This was the mid 80's at its best.
She was in her mid 30's back then and almost 70 now, so life and time does fly by alright.
Also in Hornblower

Great!
Mr king is well cute x
Absolute GOD
she needs to stop interrupting him
Nah, she is great. She doesn`t interrupt him that much and she has a great sense of humour.
A bit of give and take, just like a conversation.
She's okay.
Legend
God! The interviewer is beautiful.
He seems like a nice guy! 😊
The best bass player EVER

Oh Coxy is so delicious and Mark King is just the absolute best... top man!!! 🎸
Sarah Cox is such a great natural interviewer. Move over Graham Norton!

Lol
She was a good interviewer. She asked alot of profound questions. I LOVE Level 42. Mark King is a BAAaad MuthaFatha
Madonna to Level 42 during their 80's tour-It's nothing about, you, baby, tonight, you just need to make, me, look, better, alright?
Great guy and a master on the base!!
Pity she kept butting in.
Hold him by the ears :) I can't stop listening to that 14:14
what a nice guy please sing some bozs scaggs songs your voice is almost the same
Look how she reacts to Swarovski
The Vladimir Horowitz of the bass guitar.
she takes it deep
Silly Mark. He was continually interrupting the beginning of Sara's sentences with the middle of his!
Thought that was Zoe Ball for a moment, then realised it couldn't be her as she wasn't making a complete twat of herself.
Lol
i love level 42 , but most interviews including this one , are so mutual admiration like . and shallow .
Jesus lady, nice enough, BUT STOP TALKING!
U can tell she’s off the radio fuckin rabbit rabbit
FFS, let the poor guy finish a sentence🙄 Mark gracious as ever.
who is the interviewer
sarah cox
Who is the female host? Thanks
Sara Cox 😉
