How to Repair and Adjust Bifold Closet Door

Bi-fold closet doors are some of the most used doors in your house. Bifold doors can get out of adjustment and not close properly which can be very frustrating. Please know that bifold doors are equally easy to adjust and repair.
There are only a few parts to the bifold door so repair and adjustments are fairly easy. The top roller guide rarely needs attention, but make sure that it runs smoothly in the track. Apply a light coating of wax or silicone spray to eliminate any sticking.

I fixed it in less that 5 minutes. I giggled when I was done because of how quick and easy it was.
I wish all builders get rid of sliding doors, bi-fold doors, and just use good old-fashioned doors or French doors.

I bought 4 light weight brass hinges and installed them.

You must have very strong doors because there's no way I could push in that pin with the door still installed. My door would totally break from the force. ))
My guide rod package says to loosen lock nut. Looking at my doors, I have to say, "What lock nut?" I guess I'm on my own, use one door as my guide, even if it's so old, it's wrong. Love your video, though, even if it's not the same style as mine.
A lock nut is simply the nut on a bolt. If your door has a bolt, just loosen that bolt. They should have included a photo, but I have seen a lot of photos on Pinterest. Sorry I am not sure how else to describe it because I do not have that type of closet door.

If the wheel and spring are good, but it's still too short to reach the top track, do we just not fully push the assembly into the top of the door or do the spring/wheel assemblies come in different heights?
how do i adjust the height of the door? i replaced the left side of the track wheel but it is too high it wont close. it is hitting the rail, the adjustment that you did is that for left to right only or for adjusting the height also?

Perhaps check with and local appliance sales and repair store. They just might have one on hand.
My problem is not the top of the door. IT IS THE BOTTOM!! The peg on the bottom has fallen inside the door.

I still can’t fix mine. It seems that the wheels have popped out of the track on both sides. The doors are heave and the ends with the wheel are sagging down. The wheels are far away from the tracks

We have the doors that don't have the wheels. Ours has those square tabs.
The problem is that can't get to old metal casing out of the door.
The plastic part of the old track piece was glued in. Having no luck digging it out, any ideas?

What happens when the top of the slider is broken/cracked and doesn’t hold the metal wheel piece
He will most likely need a new top rail assembly. The rail guides the wheel and keeps the door in place. You could also use a thin strip of trim possibly.

My wheel seem to be OK but it won't stay in place.
That means you will need to adjust the screw on the bottom that affects the height of the closet door. Doors have different ways of adjusting the height. The height adjustment is what affects if the wheel stays in the track.
