- Take a tour of NYC's Little Tokyo with us!
The Wasabi Apple finally takes a bite out New York City's Little Tokyo. In this episode, Yasu and I walk the streets of Little Tokyo to show case the myriad ramen shops, sushi bars, izakaya, sake bars, toy shops, and much much more!
The epicenter of NYC’s Little Tokyo is housed between 3rd and 1st Avenues, nestled between St. Marks Place and 10th St., and clipped by Stuyvesant St.
Although an influx of Japanese business men and students in the 1980’s due large in part to the country’s economic boom saw in increase of Japanese people to the area, it wasn’t until the 1990s that the neighborhood truly exploded into what it is today (understandably so). Where there are people, there are ALWAYS hungry mouths!!! It was only a matter of time that the rest of New York City discovered the delicious wonders hidden away past the ruddy exterior of the East Village.
Even though the East Village and St Marks aren't what they once were, you can still rest assured that to catch a bit of that nice bohemian vibe if you wonder into this relaxed neighborhood. With so much to see and experience, Little Tokyo and the East Village is a must go destination for tourists and locals alike!

*BIGGGG correction* The man we talked to in Sakaya is RICK not Frank 😖 My huge apologies! It wouldn't be a Wasabi Apple video if I didn't mistake my words! 😅 Please forgive me, Rick!
