You lucky he came back. Lotta dudes gonna stop asking a 3rd or even 2nd time. They might be accused of harassment or being creepy etc. World is different now
This is a misconception. Men in western times thru the 20s (rural areas), would tip their hats to other men as a sign of respect. This was a derived offshoot from medieval times when knights raised the face guards to other knights to show their intentions to be friendly as opposed to hostile. That is the origin of our military's salute. Men of old west era would do a half bow from the waist when showing deference to a woman as a display of being genteel in the presence of the fairer sex. The woman would curtsey in response. By the 30s, society became more fast paced (rat race), and men abbreviated the bow to a head nod or a touch to the hat brim. This lasted until the 60s when men started abandoning brim hats and suits as everyday wear. History also has shown a tendancy to categorize certain words as feminine or masculine that used to be unisex. It's perfectly fine to call a man beautiful and a woman handsome. Men used to wear purses to hold the oversized paper money of the 1800s. With the invention of the wallet and smaller bills, those became obsolete, but women still use them daily. Hats are still worn by men today but 90% are caps. Women rarely wear hats and large ornate hats have almost completely disappeared much like corsets, wire bustles, oversized bows, frills, parasols, etc. Convienience is king and caps for men are just another piece of apparel that almost never get removed outside of a courtroom or church...although military personnel still remove their cover in any indoor structure.
And people wear less hats in general. The population is majority moderate to high-density urban with indoors activity and automobiles with controlled environments; a lot of the historical incentivizes to wear hats are far less pressing for much of the population today, and with that, a lifestyle where a hat is unnecessary is an indicator of socio-economic status. Obviously, some still wear hats sometimes-they are generally far less culturally significant and can carry undesirable connotations today, though.

How shameless of you to still wanting to continue your bachelor life after getting a wife , and then blaming her for stopping you. Be a man Cheaters. Respect your marriage.
My dear Dad was a WWII army infantryman under Patton. He was always a gentleman. He'd tip his hat when passing by any lady. And, he'd remove his hat if there was a lady in the elevator. My dear Mom, a homemaker, did nothing to discourage Dad's good manners. Their love was pure and secure lasting more than 50 years of marriage and surviving four of us kids.
That's great, stay away from the cities. The type of woman that live there deserve no respect. They need to prove it first. But I'll tip my hat in a small town since society hasn't influenced them as much.
Isn't it funny how women in the comment section say they love all this stuff, but a handful of terrible women have ruined it all? I regularly hold doors for strangers. On MANY occasions i have been yelled at by women who "dont need a MAN to hold a door for them".
I’m a woman and don’t know why other women do this. Thank you on their behalf. There are kind women out there. If men and women could learn to understand and appreciate each other for our differences, the World would be a better place. At the end of the day, no matter which gender you are, everyone wants to be happy, treated with respect and loved.
I always tip my hat to a lady and if I’m introducing myself or greeting… I always remove my hat. I won’t walk into someone home without removing my hat and always take it off before I eat at the table. My sons do the same whether it’s a hat or cap.

How women carried themselves in society, many decades back, is the kind of respect they got, it's as though that almost came natural for men to tilt their hats, so different in this era, the way i saw my mum treat dad was really special, they had so much respect n love between themselves, what a time that was, they still do, even in their older age. As a child growing up seeing that, there's no way that didn't rub onto me, always adored mum for that, the way she carried herself, family was always first for her, in whatever she had to do, wow 🤗☺️

I wear a hat that's apparently quite charismatic. It's become my signature. It makes my day when someone (usually an older gentleman) tips their hat at me, and I can tip mine back. 😊🤠 Once, I was in the checkout line when a guy complimented my hat. He said he always loved that style, and it's even better when you can tuck a feather in the band. I smiled and turned my head to reveal I had done just that. He smiled right back.
Still to this day at 56 I tip my hat/grab my rim when I pass a woman and say "good day ma'am", open doors, walk on traffic side of the sidewalks, stand up when a women leaves or returns to a dinner table, etc. Forever gentleman of the old code of chiveralrious conduct.
Whe I was a child, I started noticing that only sensitive people and people who knew how to love unconditionally, were the only ones who knew how to treated others with the proper respect, regardless whom they were.
Bright blessings and good fortune to you both. Politeness and kindness are never inappropriate. There has been something gentile and wonderful lost in the gender and identity wars since the 60’s. I fully support equality for all, but somewhere along the line, my manners are sometimes seen as a gesture of the patriarchy and of male white privilege…. Irrespective that I open doors for men, women, children, elderly, black, white and brindle.. c’est la vie.
I'll give you an example of why it doesn't happen, a certain girl once told a guy I know he was " too nice and he would never get laid if he kept it up, what does that say about certain people?
I still tip my hat or bow my head to ladies, but I'm 63 and was brought up with manners, I also ask to get things off shelves for ladies in grocery stores, hold doors etc. Unfortunately, I more and more get strange looks and even insulted for doing so. So sadly, I don't do it as often as I used to, but then there don't seem to be as many ladies as there used to be either.
Sorry to hear you get insulted for showing manners. What an inversion of things! I was raised totally without such manners because it is normal in my country, but I read a lot of good classic books that made me want to civilize myself lol..

The grass isn’t geener on the other side of the fence. They have new problems. Problems nonetheless.” And so much more. She pretty much raised me. Your essence reminds me of her. Thank you for these conscious videos. And by the way, I’m 60 years old, so please don’t take it when I said my grandmother any other way than your heart and mind and soul remind me of her. Words just fail when I try to describe how perfect Alexandra is! Playful, intense, thoughtful, romantic, beautiful, natural, they just keep coming! Quite literally, from the first scene with her in the bar in Cairo when she first met Spencer, when I had no idea who she was or if she was even going to be an ongoing character, I was simply stunned and memorized!! The show had just started and I was at my brother's house, as he had Paramount, and I remember trying to him and said "OMG! I don't know who that girl was, but would you rewind that, because she was awesome!" I didn't know if she and her friends were all passing characters, but she just glowed, she radiates an energy and just STOLE the scene and from than in I just couldn't stop watching the show. She is, quite simply, as perfect as any woman created by God has any right to be. As a man who knew the love of a good woman in marriage, I very much am living vicariously through Spencer and want him to move Heaven and Earth, and to crush anyone that stands between him and this woman. Because if God had brought her into my life, that's what I'd do. That's what a love story is, that's why it's so amazing!
Well it sounds like someone needs a woman . I'm not trying to be rude,it's...well come on man it is just a movie. Most of the time it doesn't happen like that in the real world.

But where exactly comes the hat-tipping into play? 😁
(Edit: yes, I got it that the comment above was about romance and good manners. Yet the title of the video says "[...] when men stopped _tipping their hats_ " That's what I made fun of.)

@@minastarosknights wo7ld op3n the visor on their helmets so that they could be recognized.
@@dirtsapient9638 yeah 😂😂
Thanks for the history check!
Finally, someone who knows of what he's talking about 👍

nonsense... chivalry can not be killed
@@kooshanjazayeri its gone and rightly so..
@@User-ALphC1 well, anyone who thinks that "it's gone and rightly so" has participated in it's disappearance, and it's not (or should not be) something one do because it's rewarded...
and women could not have killed it if men kept it...
but morality and ethics is kinda fading and it won't end in a good way..
@@kooshanjazayeri simply put, women killed chivalry. Why? Because women in today’s day and age have come to expect privilege.

Just dress up yourself like cowboy
I was taught to do that by my Pop some 55 years ago. I still do it. But, here in NY, women look @ me like I'm crazy.........
@ericb2501 Keep on doing it dear sir, it might sound crazy and me old-fashioned, it is called manners, but any lady would be lucky to have such a rare gem as you in this world ❤
Well when you pass 100,000 a day, your arm starts to get tired. 😉
