Jeff since you're a cyclist too : My bike seat was still comfortable, but looked awful from rips in the vinyl. I washed/dried a lambswool sweater from the Goodwill outlet in the machine on the hottest setting to shrink it, then attached with hot glue. It is so comfortable and warmer on cold nights!

Our old baby bed broke. We used the metal frame (looks sorta like chicken wire?) as a trellis (for our climbing plants). The guard rails (those parts that look like prison bars) are great for hanging things, especially laundry (even better if you can hang the rails from your ceiling, but ours isn't strong enough). And the headboards we use as white boards (the crib was white) for my kids to draw on (and the back is used as a word wall).

i took an old leaky concrete birdbath and added potting soil, colorful annuals and a grapevine angel for height. it looks very pretty and all my neighbors love it!

You know when I saw this video at first I thought it said "the art of unicycling", but I love the upcycling thing. I make costumes (cosplay as I call it) out of old materials I find from around the house. I made a great costume helmet out of an old lampshade and it turned out great! Upcycling and costume making go hand in hand!

Some of the best upcycling we've done involve plastic gallon milk jugs. Cutting the top off, and leaving the handle makes a good container for a toilet brush. With a larger opening it's a good storage container for small kids toys. Cutting an opening in the front, making drainage holes in the bottom, and slitting the handle across near the middle allows you to slip it over a clothes line for clothespins. I have tons more but there is a word limit.

That's true! We should all remember that when Halloween comes around.

I try to upcycle anywhere I can. I had an old record that was broken, so i shattered the rest of it and made it into a semi-sunburst art piece on a canvas and painted the background a shimmering gold. Turned out pretty awesome.

I like this, Thanks for the ad that I found through a live video of the Minutemen playing "I Felt Like A Gringo". Also, It's not my idea and lots of people have done it already, But you can make a guitar out of an old cigar box. There are videos of this subject on UA-cam and I haven't done it, But it does sound fun and small to me.

I love upcycling! I make art with things that would otherwise be tossed out! One man's trash is another girl's #art! :)

Great video! Do you have any ideas how to get the last of the candle wax out of the bottom of those candle jars once the wick stops burning ? I would love to re-use the jars. Thanks !
