Good job getting that blue dog back in the ocean. Such a sad sight to see this fish in distress. I grew up at sea on my dad's commercial fishing boat. Every chance I got I would go out with my dad and the crew. Blue Sharks are one of the most common of sharks off the coast of southern California. They eat the same thing tuna eat. We would hook onto them all the time. We would get the hook out of them and release them. Seen some huge blue shark out there. Some 8 to 10 feet. Once again. Great job getting him back out off the beach. Shark are very intimidating to say the least. It was a dangerous rescue.
@@magilla2282 No shit. A lot of fisherman including myself call them blue dogs. I don't know the origins of that nick name, but that's the handle they've been given by some commercial fisherman. It was the right call to wait a bit for it to calm down and then drag it out into the ocean to save it.
Its hard for people with little to no experience with sharks to know their bite radius. Also it falls back on fight or flee and this particular shark want to flee but can't.
It's not a damn dog it's a shark. Not everything is cute and cuddly in this world.
@@magilla2282 No shit. A lot of fisherman including myself call them blue dogs. I don't know the origins of that nick name, but that's the handle they've been given by some commercial fisherman. Dogs can be vicious and deadly, but I don't want to see a dog suffer either. No living thing should suffer when it can be saved. No telling what this shark did after this. Could've been caught in a net and hour later and finned, gutted and thrown down in an ice hold of a boat. Could still be swimming. I cannot understand how there is even ONE comment about them standing around and wait a few minutes before helping the shark.
I mean isn't it blatantly obvious why? Look at how the shark is thrashing about at the beginning, anyone saving it would be in serious danger of losing a limb or taking a nasty bite.
It was the right call to wait a bit for it to calm down and then drag it out into the ocean to save it.
Ya me either. Guess they have never been trapped without oxygen. Took forever it seemed before balls were developed.
I do it all the time. It’s called catch and release
Exactly!!
Its hard for people with little to no experience with sharks to know their bite radius. Also it falls back on fight or flee and this particular shark want to flee but can't. I've seen sharks beach themselves trying to eat birds. One was a 7 ft tiger shark. It was a beautiful animal. Heavy as well lol. It took 4 of us to pull it back it water deep enough for it to swim away. One of those four was a woman but she has been around these type sharks her entire life so her experience was much needed. I wish I had video but its stuck in my memory forever so I'm content with that.
I feel like they were waiting to see if it did on it's own. It looked like it a few times.
I suddenly realised this is equivalent to drowning for the shark … it can’t breathe and the more it struggles the more disoriented and exhausted it becomes … so nice that the gentlemen gave a helping hand! What a beautiful thing this gentleman did for the hapless animal!
