No disrespect. But I feel it needs more auditory flashing neon. Think a bit more cyberpunk with sustained synth sounds. I can only think to explain it as Hotline Miami just with less drugs. I'm a writer not a musician. I'm trying my best.
Dude you should take a peek at the Ruiner OST. While it is most if not all ambient music, there are some techniques that you can steal as Runier has a greedy Cyberpunk aesthetic.
Well, this sounds like a cover of something else, not an original track. Also, there is just too much guitar that sounds like the one from Doom. I guess that I would think of cyberpunk more in the realms of synthetic sounds with something organic trying to get out. Although, your examples in Serum gave me something to think about, so thanks for that!
It would've been interesting to see if you had restricted yourself to certain types of waveforms to see if sounds with square waves as their base invoke a digital/cyber vibe, while sounds based on sawtooth/triangle waves a more organic/demonic one.
This transcends cool and breaks into absolute genius. You managed to thread the needle of being doom-y without ever seeming derivative, absolutely hitting the nail on the head in terms of what to keep and what to change. This piece has clear inspirations without ever feeling like a ripoff, and I have nothing but praise for it.
From what Hugo Martin (lead game developer) said and what was implied in the game plus DLCs we most likely will be fighting Cthulu-looking cosmic horror squids in the next Doom game. :P And converting Eternal's music to that would be an interesting idea for a video as well.
Straight up, the final product sounds like a final boss theme song that has phases to give exposition to the character about why they’re trying to ascend to God. I genuinely think that this should be turned into a game, the story is very interesting
this is SO COOL wtf i can’t believe you not only composed an amazing original track, but also wrote a whole story to go along with it (made complete with kina’s incredible artwork). i would absolutely play this game/read this book/watch this movie and i’m so excited to hear the other tracks. i know i say this all the time IRL and on here but man you are hella talented. thanks for sharing all this with us - let’s see what’s next for regius 👀😏
11:23 The segment rigth after the drop with the synths kicking in full time is purely magnificent, the chanting on the background as the song grades up and then... goes silent with only the beats leading to the grittiest cyber-fueled combat music I've heard. Truly, a masterpiece.
There's this small indie game called Roboquest, where you fight armies of crazed robots in a postapocaliptyc world. The gameplay is like doom x borderlands, but rogue-like. The soundtrack is very arcade-y and heavy on synths and overall is really good, but i would love hearing something like this there, it would fit so well.
I didn't want the growing layers at 11:23 to 11:44 to go away, by that point in the song I'm ready for it to go on for another ten minutes! This was one heck of a hard-hitting composition, and the vocoder was a cool addition, one that I wasn'tcompletelysold on until I had a chance to hear it a few more times. Great work, it didn't take long for it to get my blood pumped WAY UP!
When you described the premise I thought that the final product would sound like The Browning but you made something unique sounding and it also sounds like a complete Banger.
i think...i'm in love. all your work since the beginning of this argent metal adventure has been evolving amazingly. every new video i'm shocked by the quality of your mix and composing. just never stop doing what your doing.
Seeing this along with Ghostrunner gameplay worked so well, the pace of this and style I could totally see working for a level in the sequel. Great work man, cant wait to hear the other tracks for this!
I spotted the ghostrunner as well as cyberpunk 2077, deus ex, vanquish and I think I spied some metal gear revengance… all insanely fitting for this track lol
Dude! This may be my favorite song you've made yet. Its definitely up there with Ludwig and Castlevania, keep up the great work Geoff. Can't wait for the day I get to hear your music in a game.
Brilliant! I felt like the chanting was a little on the nose but still, it captures the wild furious passion of DOOM but twists it just enough to make it it's own kind of monster.
I'm glad to see more artists like Mick Gordon that can understand what they need to do instead of just pulling a file from an archive and calling it a soundtrack :D Plus, this is my favorite genre of music which I can't find enough of.
The fact you went this in depth with a world and characters to further define the tone for the music is outstanding keep it going sir. I hope to see more of your boundless creativity maybe in more ways than music in feature Maybe? stay safe and have a great 2022.
That was fucking sweet, alot of the songs you cover I don't enjoy because of how samey they are throughout, but this captures that sort of movement DOOM music has that I feel a lot of other game soundtracks are missing
I'm a big fan of Doom, cyber and metal, so yeah you definetly made my day and now i know why i love so much doom OST, so thanks for all your explanation and I hope I can apply all of them when I'm gonna start to make music
I need to improve my vocabulary to come up with words to express how awesome this track is! Great job the flavor of it being against "synths" feels true as well. Amazing job!
The small little details he added to the song made a world of difference like at 11:35 or at 10:24. I honestly love this song and I can't wait to see what you do in the future!
That was so fucking cool, holy shit. I read the pdf. Hype. Also as you mentioned earlier you kept the balance between org and snyth really well. This track was fire.
This is absolutely insane. Also, I recognized some of the gameplay footage as being from Cyberpunk 2077, but does anyone know where the rest is from? I don't recognize any of it, but it looks dope as hell
the riff from this song has been stuck in my head for weeks now, I think this has to be your best work, despite being over a year old it's still stuck in my head, it manages it's energy so well and that riff, it rolls like waves on a shore it's so metal as fuck, i need more songs with a flow like this one.
I've listened to both versions of Providence, and I gotta say, I like the "raw" version here a bit better... It just feels Meaner, and more fun. Great work!
Love the new song! It's refreshing to see you spread out a little, I loved the DOOM covers of other songs, but they were starting to blend together. Super excited for the rest of them
Yoooo, an original concept album? This is amazing and obviously a project you've put a lot of effort and passion into, and I'm so happy you're able to bring it to life. I eagerly await what else you have planned for 2022!
This was so sick, it had the energy levels of a breakdown but throughout the whole song. I can't wait for the rest of the songs and basically anything else you put out.
Geoff, this is possibly the best one yet, my personal contenders for top 5 are Silver for Monsters, Halo theme, Fall of Davoth, Outlander and this one!! Absolutely perfect!
knocked it out the bloody park there mate! not only the great analisis as usual but especially the song, always loved those cyber worlds so I'm really happy to hear one of my favorite types of music combined with one of my favorite world styles
By far one of the, if not the greatest thing you have written yet. You, Geoffrey Day, must keep pumping out the wrathful cyber-slaying beauty that is the Fight Between Realms. Love your work man, can't wait to see what you do next.
This gave me a verry long chill down my spine that felt like it was building up for a good 20 seconds.... I've never had that happen before. Good stuff!
I'm a huge fan of cyberpunk type stuff, and honestly your story & this song have inspired me. I love the setup the story has, mixed in with the incredible sounds in this track, and honestly I'd love to see more in the future! I love Regius' design, Kina's art is as pleasing to look at as ever! I model dumb cyberpunk type weaponry for fps, and this really has inspired me to work on just making a fun little demo 'game' of this for myself, for fun.
Bought and added to the playlist. This is just incredible and I can legit see myself tearing shit up in some cyber hack n slash/shoot em up game with this blazing in the background.
Geoffrey really created a whole song for his OC, lmaO But, honestly this exact creative process is why I respect you so much. It's just amazing; all flows so well into each other, and your cut together music videos? They're such a valid part in all this. I've been jamming out to all your music for months, can't think of it being out of my playlists. I'm super stoked for the next 3 songs in this project specifically, but regardless of which is uploaded next, I know I'll yell "gEOFFREY DAY UPLOADED A NEW VID!" through the house yet again. much love
I am just watching this. I am making cyberpunk-ish music myself and you just couldn't pick a better day for posting this golden video. I love you Geoff! God bless you!
Just wow. Such an incredible work art, its really a shame that so much music in games today made by huge companies is so forgettable and feels like an after thought, and then there's this one guy who writes a whole chapter of a book just to make one song kick as much ass as possible. Props man, true genius here
geoff, seeing you get so much success now with this is amazing. this is one of your best pieces, and I don't say that lightly. You're one hell of an inspiration, and I hope that one day I can better understand how you make things like this, so I can make my own highly polished music. Bravo, sir.
Man, that is insane, and I don't stay that lightly! I never expected you to start transcending yourself enough to even write whole stories just for songs! Oh yeah, your music keeps getting better too! I actually hope that Id hires you sometime.
(edit at the bottom with song feedback) I have easily learned more about music composition from all of your videos than in my entire life growing up as the son of a musician. You rock. I hope a game developer sees this and makes it, even if it is just a UE or Unity concept thingymajick. Totally would play that. But seriously, thank you for this amazing explanation, this was very well done and greatly understood. Now, on a slightly longer note. You are not the only one that ends up writing pages of information for basically nothing but a small little thing - I do that too for my code. xD Not as rich in detail in terms of story or something but features et cetera instead. Once I find the time, I will read this "concept" throughly and give you my honest feedback on it. Having spent years in the role playing community, talked to many authors and dabbled in story writing and the likes myself, I think I can give at least a decent amount of feedback. That said, I am VERY intriguied by what you came up with! Absolutely love the outline you gave in the video! And now, I shall unpause and enjoy an absolute banger of a song. Because after that I might be so mindblown, that I forget to write my comment xD One last thing if you happen to read this: Did you say "Roof metal" or "Groove metal" when talking about demonic guitars? I want to look more into the genres and check out some bands! :D EDIT: I was right, it did blow my mind. But since you so kindly asked,m here is my personal feedback. Near the mid and end, you introduced off-beat drums which sounded reminicient of glitches and bugs in software and hardware which I like - but they only stood on a basic level and might have easily been missed. When I think of technology, cyborgs and stuff like that in the far future, the first thing that comes to my mind is Symmetry and Glitches - as in, errors. To me, it felt very much straight forward - almost a little too straight. The vocals were great and I think you could have used them a tiny bit more as sort of a distorted choire (plus, those vocals are absolutely epic, ngl!). What I personally missed the most is the "sound of metal". Not the genre, and not refering to Industrial either. It was heavy, but it was missing that tiny bit that has you think of literal heavy metal - falling or coming your way. A great point of reference for that is actually when you make it yourself: Grab a recorder, bang two pipes of metal against one another and start to take out the mids and highs. You will end up with an interesting bassy sound. You can sometimes hear this in older industrial or Hardcore music as well. It's nit-picking, I know, but I promised to be honest :) Something else I noticed was the mixing. That can very likely be my headset, although I EQ'd the absolute f*ck out of it. It felt like the synths were so heavy, that some of the background instruments felt kinda lost. Again, that could just be me, but it might be worth pointing it out at the very least. Lastly, I talked about glitches and such before. Very much the entire song, bar a few seconds, is "played non-stop". Like, you know those choppy guitars you used in the other covers? I kinda missed this choppyness here a little. Anyway, with all that said, i LOVE this song and can't wait for the next one of the series to come out! Keep it up man
Honestly, why are not more well known. You're a badass at making music and that is so damn cool. Also this music is quite fitting for what you're going for. Keep being a badass dude.
Superb track! It would fit in perfectly with the Ghostrunner or Sairento VR. 11:24 Love "the notes of hope" that make the soundtrack more human and atmospheric.
I don't think I can express with words how much I love this???? There's SO much dedication to the worldbuilding, and it really shows in how the track turned out- amazing work!! Have you ever been a DM/GM for a tabletop rpg? I think you'd do a good job :0
At first I listened on my phone speakers and didn't like how the vocals sounded, but listening again with headphones made an immense amount of difference
6:05 sounds like you really got into this, which is why it turned out so goddamn good! i can’t wait to hear what’s next if you haven’t already, and i would be surprised if this is the case, you should check out the French artist ‘The Algorithm’. he does a djent-electronic combination with a focus on computer programming and hacking in particular, and i think you’d really vibe with ‘Neotokyo’ or anything off the ‘brute force’ and associated EPs, as well as his latest batch of singles, especially for this project
This was a LOT better than most of the mashups I've seen. All these videos saying "What if X game was done with DOOM style". This has been the best one I've encountered yet.
It sounds like the the nanomachines in my spinal fluid are telling me to spill post-human blood analogue, and my ghost is whispering its approval. Listened like 5 times and it's a super addictive. The chanting is a nice touch. A few people have compared it to the "Become as Gods" chant in Nier: Automata, and I can definitely imagine this as a thematic escalation of that, but endlessly more visceral. All together the track carried the frantic but powerful energy of the Doom 2016/Eternal soundtracks, but also emphasized the riffs in a way that reminded me vaguely of Metal Gear Rising's boss themes.
'Doom but with cyborgs instead of demons' screams Strogg to me, but that's Quake xD Actually, I'd love to see you tackle a Lovecraftian style with the original Quake. You did amazing work, it has a Doom vibe while also being it's own thing. Very creative, and I love how you wrote your own story to go along with it!
If you read the story, you'll see what my next 3 originals will be 🙂 Hope you are all doing well!

i couldn't have said this better.
😊 thank you!!
Now I unironically want a prequel to original Doom where he is shooting cyborg criminals instead of demons. Excellent job.
We might not get such prequel, but may I interest you in Ion Fury?
From what Hugo Martin (lead game developer) said and what was implied in the game plus DLCs we most likely will be fighting Cthulu-looking cosmic horror squids in the next Doom game. :P And converting Eternal's music to that would be an interesting idea for a video as well.
Doom without blood and guts? Hmm..

Straight up, the final product sounds like a final boss theme song that has phases to give exposition to the character about why they’re trying to ascend to God. I genuinely think that this should be turned into a game, the story is very interesting
Am I the only one hearing the chant as “the people here are sad” instead of “the people will ascend”? Either way, amazing work as always!
And now I can't unhear it. I'm just going to mark this off as a lore reason in my head canon.
"the people we will serve"
Personally? I’m hearing “Now we will rip and tear”
I’d like to imagine they’re saying all of those simultaneously
this is SO COOL wtf i can’t believe you not only composed an amazing original track, but also wrote a whole story to go along with it (made complete with kina’s incredible artwork). i would absolutely play this game/read this book/watch this movie and i’m so excited to hear the other tracks. i know i say this all the time IRL and on here but man you are hella talented. thanks for sharing all this with us - let’s see what’s next for regius 👀😏

This is incredible far out. The talent here is absolutely insane!
07:01 This synth sound awoke anger within me
Also, final product=EPIC
Please make an entire album with this theme. This rocks! 😃 So incredibly well done.
i think...i'm in love. all your work since the beginning of this argent metal adventure has been evolving amazingly. every new video i'm shocked by the quality of your mix and composing. just never stop doing what your doing.

Dude! This may be my favorite song you've made yet. Its definitely up there with Ludwig and Castlevania, keep up the great work Geoff. Can't wait for the day I get to hear your music in a game.

If nobody picks up this idea, makes this game, and makes you the composer for the music, they are just wrong. This is so good!
I'm a big fan of Doom, cyber and metal, so yeah you definetly made my day
and now i know why i love so much doom OST, so thanks for all your explanation and I hope I can apply all of them when I'm gonna start to make music
I need to improve my vocabulary to come up with words to express how awesome this track is! Great job the flavor of it being against "synths" feels true as well. Amazing job!
Very good work as always! My 2 cents: The synths could be even brighter, something along the lines of Tron: Legacy OST by Daft Punk

I can't think of the word, but the melody at 9:25 sounds like Running from Evil from Doom 2 and it's so perfect.
This kicks ass. I'm always pumped when you put out another original. They're such a great showcase for your compositional skill. You rock dude!
It's crazy how I can listen to this in the background and instantly recognize Trash 2 filtering when it shows up around 7:22

Argent Metal is such a versatile genre. We can't get enough of it.
Really like the part at 12:40 when the main guitar riff kicks back in. Getting better by the minute, Geoff.
This gave me a verry long chill down my spine that felt like it was building up for a good 20 seconds.... I've never had that happen before. Good stuff!
Alternate ending to Doom ‘16 where Hayden sends you off to Stroggos
Dude this sick. I was listening to this during the Adam Smasher fight and it actually helped. Keep up the good work mate.
I have a massive headache, but I was still able to jam out to the full piece lol. Amazing soundtrack, Geoff.

gods this was badass! this hits exactly what i loved about mick gordons work, so thanks for the new song to get into!
I love it
It's very fresh to have something different from the precedents covers while keeping a lot of this doomy vibe
Fun fact “Regius” is the name of the guitar model that Mick Gordon used for most of the soundtrack as well as being the fictional charchter at 6:18
I think you should make a series like this where you make a story and music around it
This is fantastic! If you made a whole album of this I'd definitely buy a copy.
I am just watching this. I am making cyberpunk-ish music myself and you just couldn't pick a better day for posting this golden video. I love you Geoff! God bless you!

That said, I am VERY intriguied by what you came up with! Absolutely love the outline you gave in the video! And now, I shall unpause and enjoy an absolute banger of a song. Because after that I might be so mindblown, that I forget to write my comment xD
One last thing if you happen to read this: Did you say "Roof metal" or "Groove metal" when talking about demonic guitars? I want to look more into the genres and check out some bands! :D
EDIT: I was right, it did blow my mind. It's nit-picking, I know, but I promised to be honest :)
Something else I noticed was the mixing.
Keep it up man
This video deserves so much more attention. I bet id software could make something so cool out out this concept.
I’d love to see you continue this project by giving each of the realms a music track
You are talented beyond belief. I need to relisten on good headphones but holy shit dude
At first I listened on my phone speakers and didn't like how the vocals sounded, but listening again with headphones made an immense amount of difference
I love that your first step in making a Doom inspired song was to write was essentially a twenty-page original fanfic. You sir rawk.
You sir are an absolute creative genius. This was amazing! So glad I stumbled upon this channel
The Quake series went from an angey marine shooting demonic abominations to shooting evil cyborgs, Geoff making the new Quake ost confirmed?
6:05 sounds like you really got into this, which is why it turned out so goddamn good! i can’t wait to hear what’s next
if you haven’t already, and i would be surprised if this is the case, you should check out the French artist ‘The Algorithm’. he does a djent-electronic combination with a focus on computer programming and hacking in particular, and i think you’d really vibe with ‘Neotokyo’ or anything off the ‘brute force’ and associated EPs, as well as his latest batch of singles, especially for this project
Kinda reminded me of Running from Evil from Doom II…
Don’t know if it was intentional or not, but sounds f-ing cool, man
Oh my god the start is soo good i was immediately transported to your universe (got the feel)
My man invented an IP just for a song. Now it's cannon and needs to be developed.
Another Banger Geoff. Though the coverage on the creative process here seems a bit shorter than usual.
Dude, just absolutely insane. Insane. I cannot describe this with words man. Great job!
sick nasty. i know a lot about doom for someone who's never played the games, but i think you nailed it
Sounds like an amazing idea for a fast paced fps. I hope something more is done with this idea.
This is some seriously awesome work. Dear lord man, keep it up.
This track have a few parts that sound super quake-esque. I love it!
Sounds like that world and music you created needs a rpg campaign 😉 excellent work!
Dude stop!!! It's too good! And this is 1 of 4? Beyond excellent
Just discovered this channel-so happy!
