My dad and his brother shared a Uni back in the 50's for picking corn and combining. Seating in an open operators station was no picnic!

That is a great video. We have a one row picker, a 2 row sheller and I used to run an 801 4wd picking sweet corn and with a super sheller and 6 row head.

Old JD elevator complete with drag in that kind of shape is rare indeed. Nice operation. Interesting kernel collection system. In the old days we just turned the hogs out in the lot with the cribs.
Thank you, best regards from Indiana.

We used to have two 803c power units back in the 80's and early 90s picked alot of sweetcorn with them for green giant back then but when they started buy there own it force us independents out so we did some custom chopping and picking for a few years but after a few years we decided to just sell and just stayed farming.

Pretty smart setup corn cobs go into corn crib and any loose corn goes into a wagon

My dad ran Uni-systems always broke down. The only thing that never broke was the heater couldn’t turn it off even when the AC was on.

I guess that allows you to harvest sooner and save on drying costs.

In the early 70’s I ran. Unisystem with a grain head. i remember it had a 6 cylinder Chevy motor. I hated that damn thing. Finally traded for a IH 915.

Man, picking 6 rows at a time!
Back in the day if we got up 2 triple cribs in a day we thought we accomplished something.

Nice video, what did you do with the ears? sell it as is or shell it later for feed, sorry for the stupid question, have no experience of that in crop farming

Open air drying, no bin or leg or drier, low re tax. Corn held in a narrow crib, natural air flow dries the corn. Downsides- rats, spoilage, not efficient way to handle product.everything has tradeoffs.

Does anyone still make corn pickers? We had a 2 row picker back in the 60 's and early 70's, more often than not, the corn was chopped into silage.
