it’s like music from next room, might associated with memories of having a party while you are at restroom or entering to the club , it’s a state of excitement
This track and the way it has been used in memes feel sad to me. I initially found the track itself quite melancholic because it captures a party vibe that’s now old, given that the song is from the early 2000s. The singer’s voice is very cheerful, and you can even hear her smile at times. When I first watched the music video, I was struck by how the woman sings and dances as if she’s living the happiest moment of her life. It triggered something within me that I can’t quite explain - seeing her so happy felt like witnessing a level of joy I’ve never encountered before. Then I realized that the song has millions of views, and so many people around the world knew and loved it before me. Many of them, particularly from Eastern European countries, have shared their memories associated with the song. It feels strange, like I’m connecting with something bigger. As for the way the song is used in memes - often with early 2000s game icons on a Windows XP desktop - it captures an era I really miss. The internet wasn’t as widespread then, and I can imagine people who knew this song back in the day didn’t have the same access to it as we do now. It’s as if whenever they heard it on TV or the radio, they would stop what they were doing and fully enjoy it while it lasted. There’s a connection between that feeling and the fact that, in the meme, the user isn’t doing anything on the desktop - just listening, fully immersed in the song. Now, about the anime girl dancing. She could represent the person listening to the song, enjoying it, but also a kind of loneliness. Let’s be honest, the anime girl feels like a companion, and statistically, the user of the computer is likely a man, given that most gamers in the early 2000s were men, especially the kind of games shown on the desktop. This loneliness, which the anime girl seems to compensate for, ties in with the average male experience in Eastern Europe, where many people (even more so than in other countries) feel quite isolated. This lack of feminine presence adds another layer of sadness. So yeah, even though the meme is catchy and the song has a party/dance vibe, it actually feels pretty sad. Not to mention, the artist behind the song seems to have faded from the spotlight. To anyone who read all this, I hope it wasn’t too boring. It’s just how much my brain over-analyzes everything I come across.
Everything about this video just works; The anime girl dancing hypnotically The fact shes dancing in between a bunch of dark/disturbing games The song thats cheerful, but sounds uncanny as its muffled and distorted.
My guy it's not that deep, I can't with you newgens trying to make everything horror lmao TF2 isn't dark or disturbing in the slightest, neither are the soulslikes really
Why does muffled audio trigger such a happy response?
good question
It's nostalgic
it’s like music from next room, might associated with memories of having a party while you are at restroom or entering to the club , it’s a state of excitement
you're outside the club and can't wait to get in
for me it's just the nostalgia from the early 2000s when I was a naive kid and I used to listen to these low quality music players
this is officially my favourite video on youtube
Same, literally made me switch to this in my wallpaper engine lol
I love how for once the meaning of the song is actually just jolly “dance whit me” instead of some morbid lyrics like the polish cow
Or pumped up kicks
