    I admire musicians who say 'we', acknowledging engineers, techs and producers. Mike seems like a great guy. I've been revisiting Ozzy's 'No More Tears' and Mike's work on that album was great.

      Sadly he didn't play on that album. It was Bob Daisley. Mike played live and wrote the main bass riff to "no more tears" though.

    Mike is so awesome, always the "I'm just happy to be here" guy! Love a musician who can get excited again about his craft and his tools even after many years. And of course loved hearing the snippets of him playing too (I lol'd at him trying to bend those thick strings on a couple of later AIC tunes, I know he had complained to Jerry about that!) Such a great guy, and a monster bass player! ❤👍

      @zerozipper4299 3 роки тому +5

      Yes. Actually a P pickup would be more accurate. In another interview he states that the J pup does not work. Since he wont let his tech or Warwick service it I'm assuming it's just a hot rodded P bass.

    put a pair of his signature pickups in an old schecter bass, completely different than the EMG-hz's that it came with, its my favorite bass to play right now, and it was 399 bucks...I have much more expensive basses that do not sound as good and are not as versatile. I can play anything with this bass now...gonna be buying more of these and upgrading more of my old basses...thank you Fishman for saving my old instruments from being dust collectors

    Perfect rock tone! Q; What is that overdrive? Tubes? or Sansamp?

    • @cactus-mcjacktus
      @cactus-mcjacktus 3 роки тому +1

      no overdrive, just an SVT. Live, it’s an SVT-2 PRO, in the studio it’s probably a vintage SVT or a Fender Bassman Pro with all the knobs turned up. He does use a Sansamp, but it’s only for his in ears i’m fairly sure.

    • @dangiampietro6606
      @dangiampietro6606 2 роки тому +2

      @@cactus-mcjacktus So the Sansamp is his overdrive. It doesn't run into the amps, just straight to the PA and the sound engineer can blend the tone as needed.

    My biggest question though - WHY in a classic humbucker shape, which is most likely least popular shape?! Most people will have a Jazz type bass, PJ or P bass or a Music Man style humbucker. If I want to buy this (and it is truely awesome and I want to have it so bad), I can't put this into my bass because I would need to rout a larger cavity. Please! I need this in a J-shape!

      The bass came with EMG's when it was made in 91'. Mike says in the behind the player DVD that he has never let any of the original electronics or EMG 2 band EQ be touched since install. Ozzy really helped in a way to put Warwick basses on the map as amazing instrument's.

    Love this! Great tone. But to be fair, Mike Starr’s tone was even more amazing. They way his Spector cut through the guitars on Facelift and Dirt. Mike Inez is amazing in his own right, but much of his tone was probably achieved trying to copy Starr’s.
