I found in one direction Niall was always overshadowed by Harry and zayns powerful vocals and I admit myself I never realized how talented Niall truly is! This cover really showcased that!
Liam was also overshadowing him too. Louis and Niall really got shafted in One Direction. They barely got solos and when they did they were so small and buried in the song.
To be fair, Niall seems to have blossomed in his vocals since 1D went on their "hiatus". I think he just never really had the chance to test his vocal range and talents. Now, they are growing and he's getting better and better.

He was always incredible, but he never really had a chance to show what he's capable of in a band. As far as I know, he was never ever out of tune. His voice was rough in some places sometimes but that's about it, you could count that on fingers of one hand. In these 9 years I was never ever disappointed with his performance.
