Hier seht ihr meinen 1981er Ford Capri, er verfügt über einen 2.3 Liter V6 Vergaser-Motor. Das Fahrzeug hat eine Automatische Choke-Vorrichting, was bedeutet, daß man bei Kälte keinen Knopf ziehen muß so wie bei früheren Vergaser Motoren. Zweimaliges drücken des Gaspedas sollte den automatischen Vergaser aktivieren (hat hier anscheinend nicht so funktionert) Ich finde das Fahrzeug hat einen tollen Sound verglichen mit den heutigen Autos. i have a 2.0 v6 cologne in my 1979 capri, it has about 90hp, but i have to say, it rides smooth and is a real cruiser, real good engine in that car

I had a 2.0S 4 pot and 3.0 Ghia with a carb'd 2.8, both manual. Never knew they did a 2.3 V6....maybe wasn't available in the uk?
@@ftgoggi4715 It was available in the U.K. as a Ghia but only until 1981. They didn't sell loads of them.

Mein Vater hatte vor Jahren genau den gleichen Ford Capri.
Ich höre genau die gleichen Geräusche, die ich als Kind erlebt habe.
Manchmal setze ich meine Kopfhörer auf, schließe die Augen und setze mich in das Auto meines jetzt verstorben Vaters.
Leider ließ er das Auto von einem geschickten Garagenbesitzer sprechen.
Jetzt bin ich selbst Vater. Ich versuche meinen Kindern zu erklären, wie fantastisch dieses Auto ist. Das ist nicht einfach, weil der Älteste an eine sauberere Umgebung glaubt und der Jüngste in Tesla und ein Aston Martin mitfahren durfte. Aufgrund verschiedener Umstände ist es mir nicht gelungen, einen weiteren Capri an der Tür zu haben, aber der Tag kommt, an dem ich den Schlüssel dieses geliebten Autos drehen kann.
Ich bin jetzt sehr dankbar, dass Sie dieses Video für den Enthusiasten online lassen.

wunderschönes bericht. Habe selbst einen Ford Capri 3, 2,9-24V Cosworth. Und zum glück genau um die richtige Zeit gekauft. Jetzt 25 jahre mein eigentum. Es gibt genug Capri clubs denen Sie einen besuch bringen könnten.

Sehr geehrter donwilly, meine Frau hat mich schon zum jährlichen Capri-Treffen des Ford Capri Club Niederlande mitgenommen, und ich habe die ganze Schönheit dort genossen. Für mich ist es vor allem der Sound der 2.3, der mir die Erinnerungen bringt und deshalb dieses Video so schön macht. Sobald wir in der Lage sind, einen Capri finanziell zu kaufen, handelt es sich um die 2,3- oder 3,0-Liter-Maschine, bei der ich sagen muss, dass die 3 Liter damals auf der Wunschliste meines Vaters stehen müssten, wenn die Baukrise 1980 nicht in den Niederlanden aufgetreten wäre war gewesen Geduld ist eine gute Sache und genießt dieses Video und unter anderem den ursprünglichen Katalog von 1980 und das Haynes-Handbuch, das ich einmal als Geschenk von meiner lieben Frau erhalten habe.

Da war ich 12 und jedem morgen beim kaltstart (deswegen bin ich so hier gelandet...) war ich dabei. :)
Es war klar es sollte so einen werden. Jetzt steht mein nachbarn bei mir.....nur nicht jeden morgen... :)

i know that engine when i was a mechanic. It was one of the last with gear ! driven camshaft which will hold forever !!!! No timing chain or belt to replace or to look at !

I had one too. My uncle had it in the garage for years when he died I had it. A bout a year later I lost the back end I tried to control the slide but it was winter and icy. The car was completely destroyed. I’ve got a bmw now, lovely car with the convertible top but I miss my Capri, mark1 series cosworth and my old 87 xr2. I bought the later version fiesta rs turbo aswell. If I’d known how much these cars would be worth today I’d have never sold them. Gutted.

Die Farbkombination ist wirklich lecker. Wenn ich koennte - ich wuerde meinen DeLorean sofort fuer einen guten 3.0 Ghia tauschen - das war wirklich eines der geilsten Autos, die ich je besessen habe.
Here's a little trick I've learned. For carb engines with an auto choke, if it hasn't been started in a while, set the choke by pumping the accelerator twice like you did, but leave the ignition on for 30 secs to a minute. This ensures sufficient fuel pressure builds up, and all electrics are live, because when it's cold, sometimes electric contacts can contract and lose proper connectivity.
Once you do this, the engine starts right up
I had 6 capri's my first one was a 1979 1.6GL auto in metallic gold with a black vinyl roof. I've had lasers, cabarets and a 2.8i special in two tone blue. I miss them as they were cheap to maintain and a lot of fun to drive.

That start up sound brings back fond memories of my Dad’s Mk2 Granada which had the 2.3 Cologne lump. 😎👍

Anyone when driving car for 1st time would Always smoke the tires. Took 2 weeks to not spin em.

Usually there is a fast idle cam that is adjustable. Seems like it needs a few turns to raise the rpm during the warm up phase. Lovely car.

Here in uk we never got the 2.3v6 only the 3.0, although we did have a 2.3 Cortina. Really nice car you have i would love to own that well jeolous :-)

Wow! Amazing, beautiful colour and incredibly clean condition.
Such a rare model too. I believe she was never available in the UK with the 2.3 litre engine. Just the Cortina (Taunus) at that time and latterly the MK I Sierra (Merkur).

We never got the 2.3 V6 in the Capri in the UK but we did get 2.3 V6 Cortina, Sierra & Granada.

V6 ist schon ne geile Sache. Hatte in den 80igern leider nur den 2.0 mit 90 PS. Sound war trotzdem geil, da die Auspuffanlage nicht sooo ganz in Ordnung war und das eine oder andere Loch hatte .:D
Sehr schöner Ford Capri mit dem tollem V6-Klang! Beim Anlassen nach längerer Standzeit zuerst einige Sekunden ohne Gasgeben orgeln. Da wird wieder Sprit in den Vergaser gepumpt und das abgesetzte Öl kann sich im Motor verteilen. Dann erst die Startautomatik durch zweimaliges Gasgeben, dann springt er gut an. So klappt das zumindest bei meinem V6 2.6er Ford Granada. Danach richtig gut warmlaufen lassen, sonst wird das Öl wässrig (Kondenswasser).
I wish I still had my 2.8l Capri II. My favorite car that I ever owned. My E21 323i is great, but it will always be second to my Capri.

In the U.K. we only got the 1.6 / 2.0 4-cyl Pinto and 3.0 Essex V6 for “S” and Ghia trim levels. The 2.3 Cologne V6 was available on the Mk2 Granada though...

Thank you for your comment! I still own the car and it's pretty much in the same condition it was back then. Keep on restoring your car, these cars have become really rare now and they deserve it to be preserved

Hi! You're absolutely right! I live in Germany. The 1970-78 Mercury Capri was the US-variant of the german/english built Ford Capri. The european Capri was built until 1984 for the german market and 1986 for the english market. I can email you pics of the car tomorrow if you want. I will upload more vids in spring or summer. 1972 habe ich einen 2,3 ltr. 108 PS gehabt. GTXLR, oder so ähnlich. Ist lange her. War ein super Auto. Schade daß Ford heute nichts ähnliches im Programm hat.

Den Wählhebel (im "Hammer-Design") finde ich noch cooler als den, in meinem Sierra Pinto mit Automatik. :)
