Feel free to post them here. Is it Thursday yet?
I love Kingsley. The three people who inhabited the body all focus on a different aspect of time: Lucien, the past (with Aeor), Molly the ever present, and Kingsley, forever excited about what's to come. It's like, really narratively cool. Molly's story was over a hundred episodes ago but his name forever lives
Still nice to have thanked him for all he did for the MN and with such equanimity. Also, kinda special that she was finally able to affirm for herself that there are "good Goblins."
Sam does character growth. Veth sat comfortably in water naked, with no drink. Nott wouldnt have came near water, she HAD to drink or be magically inclined. Veth knows there are good goblins, despite growing up hating and being killed by them. Nott hated them, there is just so much with Veth/Nott development wise. That doesn't include the Caleb situation either.
I REALLY hope they show all of this in the show. I want to see the epilogue stuff so badly. Especially for the Caleb and Essek stuff but honestly for everyone's stories!
@@bookmarkyourthoughtsblog I joked when I met Matt this past summer(I was only up to 101 then...) "If you need to run a kickstarter for extra M9 animated eps sign me up!"

@@aurorameyer159 what made EMPATHIZE so much better was that he succeeded on all his saves, then cad said "there is always tomorrow" followed by matt saying, the spell worked sometimes but he is physically incapable of empathy. Just such a powerful character moment.
-One group defeated a god for all to see, the other defeated one away from all eyes. -One group had political power, while the other could only whisper into the ears of the powerful and hope they listen. -One group gathered a ton of Vestiges, while the other only had a single one that they had to reforge from broken scraps. -One side will be remembered forever by the public, but only certain people will remember the other. -Both sides lost a friend forever, but the only one found a new one. I love the dichotomy of both campaigns.
This.... This is why I take issue with anyone who says they feel like the campaign ended on a flat note. The Mighty Nein's story was NEVER about those grand adventures to be remembered for. Their journey was much more familial than VM's.
I need a Sprinkle plush that, when squeezed, has several different random existential quotes from Travis in that voice😂 "My life is agony." "Why would the gods allow such pain?"
As a DM who has done this before - HUGE props to Matt for running FOUR HIGH LEVEL WIZARDS IN COMBAT. Do you know how hard it is as a DM to keep track of everything AND a wizard's available actions/reactions/bonuses? Its so hard.
"Well, I don't believe I've ever seen a group of people more in need of a good time in my entire life." - Mollymauk Tealeaf And thus they wennt and had a good time. Thanks for the awesome story.
veth: I'd like to make a summer camp for young adventures, where they can learn to sneak and shoot crossbows :) *Ten years later there is a thriving thieves guild full of past summer camp kids*
“It’s hard to say goodbye when you don’t feel alone anymore”. Indeed. On first video I left a comment saying “I like watching these people. It feels like having friends”. That was 2 years ago. How true it’s been all along the way. Fuck what a journey. Thanks CR crew.
Spoiler a bit: When Sam said, “I would like to give you a wish” to Liam, I lost it. This is the wish he could not give him at the end of Campaign 1. To have a good life. Thank you so much for making my long day…long year go by so much better with you guys in my ear. Thank you. Thank you.
YES seeing Liam's reaction to that, even though I haven't finished going through C1 yet, hit me really hard. I could see that Liam was about to lose it too
I'm not crying. You're crying! I didn't even REALIZE or think of that connection. But reading your comment brought up ALL of the feels. Sam giving what he couldn't give in Campaign 1 is so amazingly heart warming.
“I do not think it is a luxury anyone has, to call themselves good or bad. I think that is a label for others to present.” - Essek “The Matron has special destinations for people who burn temples. So, why don’t you put your back into this?” - Caduceus “The only way to keep these cycles of abuse from continuing to happen is to tell the story.” - Beau “I convinced myself I’d be alone for so much of my life. It’s hard to say goodbye when I don’t feel alone anymore.” - Essek “But [the world] is so much more beautiful in all its shades of colors.” - Beau “As someone who’s been on a penance journey, don’t take too long. Because connection is what saves us.” - Yasha “You, more than anyone, showed me that trauma doesn’t define you.” - Essek “If I may, I’d like to make a wish. I’d like you to finally step out of the cell that you’re in. You’ve been trapped by your past for so long. And, you know, we all tried to help you out of it. But there’s some locks that even I can’t pick. But you can, if you take the step and walk away from everything that you regret, and all your sins, and realize how good of a person you are, and how much you matter to everyone around you, you can have an amazing life. The past made you who you are, but it doesn’t control you. Because of it, you brought us together. And because of it, we had this amazing journey together. So, yes. You’ve convinced me I’m brave, but you are mighty. And you should go forth and be happy.” - Veth “Your past doesn’t scare me. It only makes you beautiful.” - Beau
I find Essek's line to just be sad honestly. He feels that others still define him, instead of his own actions, thoughts, and feelings. He's still caged by those around him and allowing their thoughts to keep him from truly being better. Essek needs a hug and a pep talk.
The parallel between Caleb’s story and Yasha’s story will always break my heart: both carrying books of memories throughout the entire campaign to share with their loved ones that passed, while slowly learning to forgive themselves and find purpose for living their lives.
@@Reblwitoutacause I bet nobody will know, except maybe Essek, which is upsetting since both Caleb and Yasha were struggling with the same issue but never got to talk about it with one another. If they got to discuss it, it probably would have made the guilt and grief easier to process. But, on the bright side, I’m glad they both found some sort of closure in the end. 😭🥺❤️
I've now spent hundreds of hours listening to these storytellers and there's not a single minute I won't be eternally grateful for. Thank you Critical Role.
@@EvieCorwell Who among us hasn't wasted half an hour trying to put multiple spells on an arrow after the DM says no, attempted to buy 50,000 mirrors to redirect sunlight into a vampire's lair, and tried to summon an army out of his backstory to trivialize *another player's* revenge arc?
Campaign 1: Becoming what you are destined to be because of friends. Campaign 2: Accepting what you were and trying to be better for your friends. Edit: Hot Dog! 2k likes! Y'all are the best.
In the words of Matt Mercer/Essek himself, "It's hard to say goodbye when I don't feel alone anymore". Thank you, Mighty Nein. Your story and these characters will forever hold a place in my heart.
Fjord making it rain, so that not only it will help with his Wildbrother’s house, but to bring Jester under to tell her he loves her too & kiss her is just so perfect. He gave Jester an epic romance moment, like something out of one of her romance novels that she always fantasied about.
"Thanks for a pretty good story Matt." "Let's do it again." Matt, Travis, Laura, Liam, Sam, Ashley, Talesin, and Marisha; all the guests who showed up for some of the spotlight; thank you all for such a lovely campaign two. *Also the crew! How could I forget! Without your work behind the camera this would never be possible. Thank you all as well for the work in making campaign two so special.
I like that it's now tradition that Travis says "let's do it again" at the end of every campaign. It's what D&D is about, ending one story and starting another, it shows how much they love doing it ❤️
I cannot fucking handle the fact that the one thing Molly, Lucien, and Kingsley have in common, the one thing that stays 100% consistent across all iterations of our lovely tiefling friend, is that they all think Caleb is sexy. Molly with the forehead kiss, Lucien with "you're attractive when you're condescending" and now Kingsley with "oh you're cute magic man" * aggressively bites lip *. The mind may change but the dick remains steadfast. I am fucking dead
The wizard who wanted to control his future fell in love and was saved by the wizard who wanted to control his past, and in this love they found happiness in the present
"Let's do it again" the exact same words, 3 years later and the still hold the exact same gravitas! It is very weird to think that a show about some people playing D&D could affect me in such a major way and be a much needed light at certain times.
This counterspell battle is going to look AMAZING in the animated M9 series. Not to mention the moment with Veth's silent image of Caleb's parents pointing at Trent.
That fight with Trent. Are you kidding me? Fjord with high level spells and melees, Cad providing constant support and heals, Jester healing and dominating, Yasha tanking and holding the front, Veth and Beau planning the collar, Caleb giving his intelligence and tactics on the mage battle, Essek providing support fire. Damn everyone stepped up. Bitch we just killed an Ancient Astral City.
@@maxinesenior596 Tent's not a MM archmage though - he's a level 17+ PC class School of abjuration wizard, with several powerful magic items and better spell selection.
@@Ky-xh8tj well actually, the Archmage statblock is also effectively a level 17 Abjuration wizard, and looking at the spells and effects both used (Time Stop, Fire Shield, Globe of Invulnerability, Counterspell) the only changes were that he used Crown of Stars and Horrid Wilting. Which did a lot sure but didnt make him MUCH more powerful than a regular archmage. His magic items also didn't really do much, considering it was just flight and then mental protection
@@maxinesenior596 he didn't use Globe of invulnerability - he used *Invulnerability* the 9th level spell, (which isn't on the archmage statblock) and he could only do due to casting Time Stop via item. He also had a feature that worked like Arcane Ward (used at 2:47:55 , dispelled at 2:49:08 ), which is the primary reason I said he was an Abj. Wizard.
I’m glad Taliesin left “Molly” in the past. It plays a lot with the idea of how experience affects identity. Without Molly’s memory, would Molly really be Molly? Maybe he’d be Kingsley. Maybe there never was a “split soul”. Just one soul manifesting itself in different ways after different experiences. In the worst case scenario, a Lucien. In one of the best, a Molly. Now Kingsley has the chance to be a Tealeaf of his own.
To me, Kingsley is the perfect encapsulation of C2's themes of redemption and renewal. Regardless of what came before, Kingsley knows that his life is still his own and he embraces it without hesitation. It's a reminder that it's never to late to reinvent yourself, and that's the lesson the M9 needed. Phenomenal!
I’m late to this, but honestly, if this is how things were gonna end up, I wish “Molly” had stayed dead. In a way, he did, didn’t he? All the M9 did was reanimate his body. “Molly” is still gone. How is this any different than if they had just buried him?
@@lupusgigan1116 Yeah, but…after death? That’s the part that ruins it for me. If Molly wasn’t gonna come back after all, I feel like it would have made more sense if the first ending had stuck, and they’d buried Molly at Caduceus’s place. Now they just have some guy in Molly’s body walking around, which is no different than what Lucien was. It wasn’t the body they were trying to save - it was Molly’s soul.
@@youseineko I can understand your frustration, but I feel that "Molly should just stay dead" is a rather cynical ending for the M9 story. Kingsley is not Molly, but he is a human being (Tiefling being?) that can now carry Molly's legacy, which he does in the end. The M9 didn't get Molly, maybe they never could, but they still created life. It's a hopeful ending where "life continues on", like Fjord tells Essek. Leaving the story at Molly's grave would be, in my opinion, less meaningful. The M9 wouldn't get real closure and they wouldn't have created a new life. And beyond that, I feel like the ending is in tune with the C2 journey, as I said before. The M9 story is about making peace with the past, painful as it may be, and moving forward. True to life, no one gets exactly what they wanted in the end, but they make the most of what they have and are better off because of it. That's what touches me the most about the whole thing. But again, those are my personal feelings, I'm just trying to explain why I find the ending so fitting. If you disagree, that's totally valid.
@@youseineko I think technically Kingsley is Molly, just he lost his memories again. He is the same shard of Lucians soul that Molly was, and the same physical body. It's not like Molly is in the afterlife somewhere, he literally is Kingsley.
I can just imagine an animated series or something of the like where Kingsly Tealeaf narrating the tale of the Mighty Nien from the journal Beau gave him
The unashamed emotion of all in this group, but especially Matt in that last scene is so touching and such a wonderful example to their fans and followers. The way he allows himself to cry openly with love, happiness and sadness as the campaign comes to a close, not even wiping away his tears, making no attempt to hide them is one of the single most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed.
To catch the live stream of this final here on my family's farm in South Africa on Friday morning I got up at 3 am, went outside and up a nearby mountain to find sigal. I sat in the dark on a rock watching this on my phone until 11 am. And through the tears and smiles I can say it was definitely worth every moment of it. Thank you to everyone at Critical Role for this final. Love you and all my fellow Critters. Here's to the future.
Ay another South African critter, I stayed up too, got prepped to watch the full stream, but the last hour got cut short for me because of load shedding lmao
another South African here. Had to jump back and forth between streaming it on my phone and laptop because of load shedding at 4 in the morning. Was worth all the trouble.
Buuuuut like to be fair 9 is considered a most "sacred" number -- this coming from an atheist -- with major importance to human culture, religious, artistic, mathematical expression, etc...of all numbers considered to be "meaningful" in the sense that humans recognize, we are pretty much looking at 3, 7, 9, or 11. For a storyteller and their special narratove numbers, 9 is a likely choice. What am I saying? I guess I'm that ass that's like "yo it's not THAT weird dude, the chances were actually pretty good. Of all numbers out of 20 to become "special", 9 is super likely." I also do parties
Lol almost like they made it work out and kept pointing out the trend. Bo matter if it was animals or people there were 9. Self fulfilling prophecy really.
@@samuelcaison5887 exactly... it was a joke in the beginning, and arround episode 80 or so, it was becoming a thing since everyone, including matt, then knew, where the story was heading at... i doubt he had everything planned out... maybe aeor, the city and another BBEG... that it was molly was just 'yeah that's nice' moment later on.
@@Xingmey i mean early on they had aeor, lucien trying to teleport there with the tombtakers, and his nine eye tattoos. presumably vess could have been a BBEG having had the 9 eyes and also having purposely sabotaged lucien's plan, but it seems like The Nine was built in pretty early on

@@ghomerhust They show up at least 2 times between then and now. I can't remember when exactly, but there was a great moment when they were ambushed, and then one of the attacking bandits told the others to stop when he recognized the M9
@@tawnyclawx the bandits show up a total of 4 times I believe. First time molly let's them off with a warning and a gold piece each. Second they recognize molly and back off with an apology. Third was Veth investigating their camp after they started hunting for themselves/making an honest living. This episode was the fourth and hopefully not final time. I'd really love to see these screwballs pop up somewhere in C3 especially if they become main npc's instead of a running gag. It'd make one hell of a character arc
I love Veth's words to Caleb at the end. You brought us all together for this journey, and IRL Liam really did. Sam is silly and witty and random, but he can also be so incredibly poetic.
@@kaekaeno I’ve missed something, what is the callback too? I get the semantics of wishing Kaleb to forgive himself, but is there a specific reference I missed here?
I have to say, to this point, Caleb discussing his plan to save his parents and then scrapping it is the one scene that gets me the most in all of CR. Liam is a master at tugging my heart strings.
@@MNcit His plan would have worked. He could have make it work. He KNEW it. But succeeding in saving his parents would not have brought him closure. In fact he would inadvertantly subject his past self to the torture he himself endured for twenty odd years. Just to return his parents to his present self. That would have been a selfish act. An act worthy of Trent. And Caleb knew that as well. And so, after dreaming of this plan for many years, he CHOSE to scrap it along with the only known possibility of succeeding with it. He chose to let it go. He chose to accept his parents' death. He chose to finally let THEM go. And to let himself move on. I say this is the best thing he could have done.
Molly: whoever came before me did something to deserve ending up in a shallow grave. i want nothing to do with him Kingsley: whoever came before me did something to deserve being surrounded by people who love him. He can be my brother. I'd love to know more about him someday. PLEASE IM CRYING THINKING ABOUT THIS
So many poetic and perfect coincidences. The moment at 5:17:10 just sunk in now re-watching this that Veth had lost her body and Caleb had lost his mind. Until they met in prison where Veth began to repair his mind and then he repaired her body.
Vandren was like a father figure to Fjord and the excitement in Travis eyes and voice while talking to Vandren made me cry. Because I feel like deep down it was Travis who wanted to thank to his dad for the person he is now today.
Judging from his between the sheets episode, I'd say you're right. Had that impression about his respect for Vandren ever since I watched the interview.
Let us never forget that the first words uttered in this campaign “ah finally awake, I see.” And I wouldn’t have it any other way, goodbye Mighty Nein and to the cast of CR, I hope it’s not Goodbye just see you later
@@kelly4187 They updated the kickstarter page listing all the characters VM will have Vax, Pike, Scanlan and Percy and TM9 will have Jester, Fjord, Beau and Molly Taliesin will be a wildcard playing on both sides
This episode was emotional and rewarding but nothing prepared me for the way Liam grabbed the narrative into a chokehold at the very end and bookended the campaign in the most perfect, heartbreaking way
All of the cast have a lot of skill with monologues, but Liam is probably the best among them, at least in this campaign. I haven't watched too much of C1 and I'm only 15 in on C3, but holy hell, Liam is amazing
Caleb's arc is so simple yet complex, he went through all the stages of Grief, and right at the end when he disintegrated his only chances of getting his parents back, did he get to acceptance of what had happened, he grew more than anyone in this campaign and he will always be my favorite character, (him being my favorite type of wizard also helps)
I see this whole campaign as a story about Caleb, the main character who starts the first episode waking at the inn and concludes the final episode getting rid of his number one foe and finally burying his past.
I listened to a few different actual play shows before this one, and even really loved some of the shows and some of the players/GMs, but Caleb is the very first character that I truly loved. He wasn't always my favorite through C2, but he was my first for that and he and Liam both hold such a special place in my heart
Liam was sitting on that story beat with the second book... for three and a half years... wow. Makes me want to watch the whole thing over again in light of that. How lovely, how sad, what a beautiful ending for all of them.
The second book reveal is super underrated. I'm almost surprised that his friends never snooped and found out, but it's nice to know on a meta level that the cast wouldn't encroach on this private thing that Liam/Caleb had set up
@@bridgtroll5523 That was where I very nearly cried. Almost all of my RPG characters keep journals and write letters, it was so amazing to see that played out on a stage this large.
If I recall correctly, sometimes he told Matt, that in the downtime Caleb would spend some time writing in his "second book". It was just so quiet and natural, that no one tried to look into it further. It's such a devoted personal roleplay, and I think it's amazing.
@@felixangelpazovila1350 I think the same happened at the end of the first campaign. I bet it's very hard for the DM to say goodbye to a several years-long journey and see the players do the same, especially when everyone is so invested and the narrative is so touching.
@@talitherose Well, the whole cast certainly teared up during certain closure moments of the campaign 1, I remember Matt being quite touched by Percy's ending in particular. And he certainly got quite emotional when he was saying the last words, which was heartwarming and wholesome, similar to the last minute of this campaign. Just re-watch him saying goodbye in C1 and you'll see what I mean.
SPOILER: The fact that, this whole time, Yasha was collecting flowers for her lost wife, instead of just for herself, is really the one that did it for me
No what got me where the fucking letters to Caleb's parents, the entire time I thought hewas writing in a journal like jester or Beau. But he truly thought until the end he wouldn't fail in bringing his parents back
I think it was Caleb who broke him in the end. The plan made sense, matt might have let it happen in a one shot, and then he burned it to the ground by accepting the fate of his parents. that was POWERFUL and I think its the one thing Matt didn't really expect. It got me good too
@@patrickmcisaac3142 I noticed that two. He enjoyed Jester and Fjord, thought Beau and Yasha were really sweet, nodded along with Kingsley, but fucking shattered for Caleb.
@@Reblwitoutacause In a way, she was. But her development wasn't her putting aside that part of her, it was adding other parts. To take her colors comment as an example, she started out as blue. ONLY blue. Now, she's a damned rainbow (pun unintended but I like it). She started out as a pessimist and that was really her main trait. Now she has notes of pessimism, notes of optimism, and everything in between. That to me is the most realistic kind of character development. Becoming more than you were, but still you.
i respect that Taliesin chose to leave Molly in the past and start fresh. I think it makes for the best narrative. even with so much magical potential in the world, some things just can't be undone

at first i was a littl up set but that was a knee jerk i miss molly moment. tille like you i realized maybe this is who he was the whole time. and still leaves so much room for his story and who he REALLY was, i love how you bring the magial potential in to the idea ! that is even deeper layer
I was honestly a bit insulted. They used his memory to bring lucean down. But he doesnt remember any of those things they said or any of them? Feels a bit, for lack of a better word bullshit?
I started campaign 2 for the first time on the 8th of April 2022. It's now the 18th of December of 2022 and I've just finished. What a campaign. What a story. What an incredible journey. Thank you Matt, Travis, Laura, Liam, Sam, Ashley, Taliesen, and Marisha. Here's to the Mighty Nein
I think Caleb explaining his time travel plan and saying "and it would work, because of course it would," will now forever give me chills and put me on the verge of tears
I don’t understand why he didn’t try it in the end if his main objective from the start has been to find a way to bring back his parents. Or try to find a cleric who can cast true resurrection.
I think it's because he realized messing with time like that was too dangerous (thus why he also destroyed everything in the room) and he finally figured out that he was a good person and could have a good and meaningful life despite his past actions, so he no longer felt he needed to undo them as much
When Caleb and Essek started exploring time travel again, and about how to fix their past mistakes, I was like “oh yeah sweet, Caleb could just bring his parents back to the present time”… then I heard “of course it will work”, and realised he was talking about this aspect. As much as I wouldn’t blame Caleb for doing this though, I think he was right not to change the past. For one, he’d leave himself open to further temptation and abuse of such a part, but also, how could he ever truly heal from that?
That's what I'm saying, they just completely left out Devexian and all of his pre calamity robot buddies, they probably have so much history and knowledge.
Veth: I'm out guys. I'm sorry. It's been a lovely few days, but my road's done, my road's at an end. That got me. It was the first true wave of realization that this was the last episode for the Mighty Nein.
essek: “what have you done? this world was so much easier when it was black and white.” beau: “but it’s so much more beautiful... in all the shades of colors.” essek: “... thank you, mighty nein. i can never return the favor... for what you have done for me.” this dialogue will stay with me forever. this story will stay with me forever. i have found so much of myself through these characters since i found cr just over a year ago. i have never related to characters more than these guys. especially caleb and essek. i’m sad this story is over, but can’t wait for more chaotic adventures this cast will bring. thank you, mighty nein, for teaching me that i am worthy of love and friendship. i’m gonna miss y’all. :)
I mean… it was the lamest thing she could have said. Very r/iam14andthisisdeep. Like “sometimes the light is not good” with a picture of Griffith from Berserk. But it’s on par. Beau was always this corny trying way hard to be cool chick and we love her for that.
That chair is the inspiration for a little thing I'm putting in my homebrew campaign. Deep in the lore, it's discovered that all life on the planet is a means of harvest, all souls going through a purification and process through resurrection until they mature. When enough are, all souls are "harvested" to give birth to a new god, and the seeds of new life are sewn to quicken and give birth to a new cycle (or "Kalpa" as I'm calling it) where the process will repeat. When enough gods exist, they, themselves, will be harvested to make a true god, so that the one 'godhead,' the existence above all others, won't be alone anymore. Anyway, as the planet is basically a construct with a purpose, my group may (or may not, depending on their choices) find in the deepest bowls of a clandestine installation of secrets: an extremely well locked room containing nothing but a half rotted wooden chair. If they inspect it, they find they can't move it even the slightest bit, and if they use detect magic, they have to role constitution saves to determine how long the magical aura blinds them (on a save, 24 hours. On a fail, a week). Depending on investigation and/or arcana rolls, they might determine that it's a Spelljammer Helm, one of unimaginable power and scope. I don't know if I'll make it possible to figure there, but it's a Helm that can direct the entire planet through the cosmos, and none of them will be strong enough to direct it.
The setting is a quiet tavern lost somewhere amidst the burning sands of the Marquesian desert , the new party of campaign three has taken a stop in their travels to rest and recuperate when along comes a strapping young man , a fellow adventurer , he carries a hand crossbow and two daggers. He comes towards the party and asks them for help on a mission that's taken him very far away from home , the group hesitantly accept and ask for the man's name . "Luc , Luc Brenatto" he responds , *the party loses their shit*
Luc would be the biggest badass alchemical and magical skills also being trained by veth plus halfling traits Dm: your party follow the hallway and finds where you believed to be the bbegs chambers are Luc : I cast invisibility and sneak in Dm:ok roll for stealth Luc: ok 26 Dm: ok you sneak in and see him sitting at his desk Luc: cool I plant an inchanted fluffernuter under his chair Dm:ok roll for stealth Luc: nat 1 re roll nat twenty for thirty-lots sneaks out "someone throw a fireball in there" surprise round
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” ― Rumi. I found these words echo with Caleb's story arc.

@@fatthorstumtum6593 I mean *fingers crossed* they can get back to some sense of normality soon. I also hope a potential C3 has the old table set up too.

fuck.... this was one of the only things that kept me going during one of the most lonely, isolated and depressing times of my life. so much of my heart belongs to these people and to the critters. I am heartbroken that it's ending here, but excited to finally watch campaign three. let chaos reign.
Joining in with you on that! Just finished my second watch-through, and I love these chuckleheads just as much if not more the second time. Whatever you're going through, you have your fellow Critters behind you, even if we can't be beside you. Wishing you fairer weather in the days and months to come.
I love that Beau, who's main thing in combat was punching, pretty much did the most important thing in the final battle of the campaign, without making a single attack
@@zombieninjapitbull3856 The power stone they used for Devexian (I take it that's who you mean) was one that Jester had pried out of another automaton that they had fought earlier, in the threshold crest chamber. The stone that powers the collar was put into the collar through teamwork by Jester&Caleb. I can't remember when this happened exactly, tho^^°
@@zombieninjapitbull3856 no no, that was a different stone. one was from the halls of halas (caleb got it), the other stone was from an automaton at Aeor.
Seeing Taliesin’s performance as Molly in this episode makes me sad that we missed out seeing it for the last 100 episodes. But also Caduceus was such a beautiful character that we wouldn’t have been able to see if Molly was there. I wish we could have had both, but then it wouldn’t have been what it was. A wonderful mix of sadness and contentment.
The dream that Matt gives Kingsley at the end makes me seriously wonder if Molly would’ve started getting Nonagon/Somnovem dreams, and if we’d have been able to see the tangible tie between Tharizdun and the Somnovem/Cognouza. I don’t know if it’s directly implied by Kingsley’s dream or anything else that’s happened that Tharizdun was responsible for the power that the Somnovem was corrupted by, but I really want to believe that we could’ve seen that tied together if both Molly and the Obann saga went differently
"The tale of seven friends. That became eight. The Nein." God, that broke me... I wasn't there for the first campaign but watched this one from beginning to end, 141 episodes, all those hours. I laughed, I cried, I freaked out and sat at the edge of my chair. It was a journey and it helped me through some tough times. I loved these characters and grew so incredibly attached to them that hearing them say goodbye kinda felt like saying goodbye to old friends. I'm sitting here crying over the end of this campaign as one of thousands but I think I can say we are all looking forward to what's to come! Love y'all
OMG! You HAVE to go back and watch the first campaign! I will admit that it DOES start a little slow, BUT they all eventually get the hang of the rules(prior to Critical Role they had been playing Pathfinder, another GREAT game that I also suggest if you like TTRPGs) and being on camera and becomes an AMAZING CAMPAIGN!
@@JacksonOwex adding to this starting at the Briarwood arc helps with the "slow start". The biggest issue with the first episodes is audio quality and they have that mostly ironed out by the Briarwood arc.
@@JacksonOwex i tried watching campaign 1 when i had caught up with m9 but it just felt so out of joint when they constantly referenced earlier events and i just felt like i sat in on a movie that already passed an hour of runtime
Well, considering Veth and Davaxian, and also that scene with Veth an Caleb, "I'll take your halfling luck." "Go ahead, I don't need it." It's probably not coincidence. Then again, Marisha also said a few episodes ago that she would play a "high charisma character" next campaign and we ended up with Laudna so... FYI, no hate: Laudna is one of my favorites, she just definitely isn't high charisma.
When Matt's voice has that little crack at the end, it's like a switch flips in your brain and it all comes flooding out. The power this man wields is a thing to behold. Thankfully, he uses it for good.
It's mad to think, were it not for that shopkeeper in Nicodranas liking Caduceus' hair and giving him a good deal, the Nein might never have got that Wind Fan, and they may not have been able to collar Trent at all.
Seeing the pure anger in Caduses after the fire, I could imagine him using death ward on someone he wants to break, then taking them down - repeating for a death-bording interrogation.. Grave clerics are NOT to be triffeled with.
@@williamroop451 Caduceus was pissed but he would never stoop that far unless he’d gone clinically insane, which Melora probably wouldn’t allow. He’s her baby, and ain’t nobody messing with her baby.

After three and a half years, four jobs, 194 stamp documents and a lot of work on myself, this weekend I moved into my first solo apartment. I love Kingsley. Still nice to have thanked him for all he did for the MN and with such equanimity. Also, kinda special that she was finally able to affirm for herself that there are "good Goblins."
It was more about her working past her prejudices. Maybe they'll be friends now. 🤷♀️

Didn’t they literally say it was Astrid?

But succeeding in saving his parents would not have brought him closure. In fact he would inadvertantly subject his past self to the torture he himself endured for twenty odd years. And so, after dreaming of this plan for many years, he CHOSE to scrap it along with the only known possibility of succeeding with it. He chose to let it go. He chose to accept his parents' death. He chose to finally let THEM go. And to let himself move on.

Yo, this is so weird, having check out your video about D&D a few days ago and seeing your stuff for the first time and now your here :D Still recommend you to check out Arcadum (the biggest D&D streamer on twitch, connecting different communities to D&D), since there now is the void of no CR.
at first i was a littl up set but that was a knee jerk i miss molly moment. tille like you i realized maybe this is who he was the whole time. and still leaves so much room for his story and who he REALLY was, i love how you bring the magial potential in to the idea ! that is even deeper layer
@@mikedotson5548 I coldn't agree more! I wasn't happy about it for like 5 minutes... I also liked the brother aspect that Kingsly decided to go with!

Just finished as well. Started Aug 9th, paused for about 2 weeks after ep. 33. then went until Dec 19th. Onto EXU and C3.
I as well started in April 2022 and just finished today 27 December 2022.
I started watching Campaign 2 after watching the Legend of Vox Machina on Prime.
took me a full year, and i don’t think I’m ever going to be the same
I started C2 the 16th of August 2022 and ended it today, 22 of January 2023. next few days will be M9 Reunited, and LoVM S2. thank you so much!
I think Caleb explaining his time travel plan and saying "and it would work, because of course it would," will now forever give me chills and put me on the verge of tears
Same.
Reminds me of the Disintegrate on Vokodo: "I'm gonna kill Vokodo, obviously"
“Sorry Sprinkle your stuck with me!” *insane cleric cackling*
*squeaky voice* "kill meeeeee...."
"Death will bring me release"
“I want to die among the stars…”
"Set me free"
Caleb: I'm going to trust my friends.
Jester: I'mma heal you 70 hit points in one go.
True character development
"I think this is what they call character growth."
Went from 70 in the last ep to 700 in the 2part oneshot.
I need a book of Essek and Caleb going back through Aeor stat
I need an animated spinoff.
Yes please 😊🥰
That's what I'm saying, they just completely left out Devexian and all of his pre calamity robot buddies, they probably have so much history and knowledge.
Theres a lot of fanfiction about it
@@Jonny10288 Watch campaign 3 my dude.
Veth: I'm out guys. I'm sorry. It's been a lovely few days, but my road's done, my road's at an end.
That got me. It was the first true wave of realization that this was the last episode for the Mighty Nein.
essek: “what have you done? this world was so much easier when it was black and white.”
beau: “but it’s so much more beautiful... in all the shades of colors.”
essek: “... thank you, mighty nein. i can never return the favor... for what you have done for me.”
this dialogue will stay with me forever. this story will stay with me forever. i have found so much of myself through these characters since i found cr just over a year ago. i have never related to characters more than these guys. especially caleb and essek. i’m sad this story is over, but can’t wait for more chaotic adventures this cast will bring. thank you, mighty nein, for teaching me that i am worthy of love and friendship. i’m gonna miss y’all. :)
One of my favorite quotes from this entire campaign. It's so beautiful.
I mean… it was the lamest thing she could have said. Very r/iam14andthisisdeep. Like “sometimes the light is not good” with a picture of Griffith from Berserk.
But it’s on par. Beau was always this corny trying way hard to be cool chick and we love her for that.
@@wenbluepirate3954 Based and true.
If you look at Matt, when Marisha delivered that line he just broke. I love these guys so much omg
All unfolded exactly as the chair had planned.
The chair
"Chair-kaku Door-ri"
Lol yes!!! Hahaha
Mercer is a genius. Planting these seeds of the next big bad in campaign 3.
"Life was much esier when it was black and white "
"But it is much more beautiful in all the shade of color"
Ooof
Watching a creator of worlds weep that his creation has full filled its purpose is the most wholesome shit ever.
Yes
Luc would be the biggest badass alchemical and magical skills also being trained by veth plus halfling traits
Dm: your party follow the hallway and finds where you believed to be the bbegs chambers are
Luc : I cast invisibility and sneak in
Dm:ok roll for stealth
Luc: ok 26
Dm: ok you sneak in and see him sitting at his desk
Luc: cool I plant an inchanted fluffernuter under his chair
Dm:ok roll for stealth
Luc: nat 1 re roll nat twenty for thirty-lots sneaks out "someone throw a fireball in there" surprise round
Was thinking the same thing
I'd honestly be so hype for a desert campaign
Alchemist artificer with a mechanical blink-dog... I can dig it.
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” ― Rumi. I found these words echo with Caleb's story arc.
Rumi?
...but caleb did ultimately attempt to change the world in the end, by killing trent and exposing the assembly's shit.

Nice!
Saddest part of this episode was reading Flando’s little note at the end of his time stamps. Respect that legend
After all this time, they better either reach out to Flando and offer some kind of payment...or better yet for a fan, make them a NPC

Final redemption for a campaign long rampage of awful I suppose
Seeing Taliesin’s performance as Molly in this episode makes me sad that we missed out seeing it for the last 100 episodes. But also Caduceus was such a beautiful character that we wouldn’t have been able to see if Molly was there. I wish we could have had both, but then it wouldn’t have been what it was. A wonderful mix of sadness and contentment.
Molly’s death and Caddy’s guidance are things they needed to truly become a unit, and a family.
As far as narrative purposes go, Tal was seriously MVP, his characters truly made and saved the mighty nein
I really wish Caduceus was there to say to Beau's dad: "You are a bad father.".
The Nein."
God, that broke me...
*"Then" nine/nein
@@JacksonOwex adding to this starting at the Briarwood arc helps with the "slow start". The biggest issue with the first episodes is audio quality and they have that mostly ironed out by the Briarwood arc.

Well, considering Veth and Davaxian, and also that scene with Veth an Caleb,

It's probably not coincidence.
Then again, Marisha also said a few episodes ago that she would play a "high charisma character" next campaign and we ended up with Laudna so...
