The british made a lot of nice and well designed radios back then. Good result you got there. A tip: When you wanted to replace the pot you could have connected the one you used with wires, find the sweet spot where the current is correct then unsoldered the wires and measured the value, at the end using one or two fixed resistors and soldered them in. Greetings from Denmark.
My favourite thing is cleaning them, I sometimes wonder if I actually do like fixing them really and would prefer just to clean them. Thanks for watching.
That looks like it lived in an auto repair shop or similar environment for a long while. It did clean up nicely though. Well done. Stay well. ATB Doug.

I think I would have replaced that preset pot with a multi turn one. Usually blue in colour but completely sealed. Much smaller and insulated, so no chance of short. Those open type pre sets always go noisy in the end messing up the QI
Ooow that bowl of nastyness looks like mostly niccoteen. i had a music center to clean and repair for a frend, my hands stuck to the case, horrible niccoteen :-( The pye looks fresh now :-D Maybe a bit of white piping or white wire to refresh the lines. If the handle was plastic i would give the sides a rub with T-cut or similar to wear away the yellowing. It has a nice bass sound, i never did like the tinny sounding radios. Shame about the side, i bet even wood varnish would not hide the scratches :-(

Another radio's life extended for a further 60 years, great work, Andrew....
Well yes good point, if you can guarantee I'll be around in 60 years I'll be most happy :)
Lovely Job there Andrew
Enjoyed watching the progress
Best regards Shaun
Thanks Shaun, not quite as sensitive as I thought but that might be me rather than the set
A very pretty little set, scrubbed up well. Someone did a real number on that slider for sure.
Yes weird on the slider bit, might have been a nail file but it would have been easier just to take the surround off.
Well done Andrew another great video looks a million dollars now after all your hard work such a shame about the volume control why do people do that
50p more like Daniel :) But my, was it filthy

Thanks 👍 yes a particularly dirty set. You stay safe too Doug, lots of snow around over your way at the moment

Thanks Mike, that's a good idea. No idea where I might get some, I understand it's sold in strengths that sometimes only hairdressers can get.
