I can hear you Nancy! Yeah lol. Your quilt is beautiful and all the stitchy stuff you ladies made is stunning also. I always enjoy your videos as your both so happy.❤
Playing catch-up with all my floss tube friends and omg 😱 I enjoyed seeing all your beautiful ffo’s and finishes love the quilt top and your embroidery. Enjoyed hearing about the retreat and seeing all the goodies. Have a wonderful weekend and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
Wow… lots of show n tell… just so much talent. Love your ideas for finishes. Yes, i agree with both of you… having your friend who dabbles in the same likes of needle n thread and fabric… for inspiration😉👍🪡. Stay warm.
You both are perfect together. Love your ideas and projects. I am inspired to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things. Thank you so much for sharing. So enjoyable.😊
Oh girls.....I would SO love to be either of your neighbors! I'd be at your stitching group every meeting! But, 5 hours one way is just a bit too far to travel! So, I love seeing your works on Flosstube. Perhaps one day we'll meet at a retreat - I've never been to one and hubby says I need to go - what a guy! Hugs, Candace
First time viewer and really enjoyed seeing all of your beautiful stitching and quilting! I was at a retreat 2 weeks ago and they had a stitched model of Auntie’s Sewing Box. It’s beautiful! My sister and I are also going to the Quilter’s Station retreat on the same weekend. So, we’ll see you there!
Oh my gosh Nancy.... that quilt is stunning!! I just have to ask if you ever sleep? 😉 You get so much done!! Nice recap of your trip Cathy... going to Amana is on my bucket list for sure. Your little sewing machine find is a treasure. Can't wait to see your craft room tour. I've never been brave enough to do one... it's always cycling through chaos-LOL. Happy stitching my friends!
Thanks so much for watching, Nancy! When I was a little girl I remember Dad calling errant cows “you old so-n-so“ because he didn’t want to swear in front of us kids. It’s kind of funny we are using that for our flosstube name 🤣
It was such fun to see a video from both of you!! You are both so inspirational! Nancy, your needles have been on fire!! So many gorgeous finishes! Cathy, the retreat sounds fabulous! Thanks as always and happy stitching!
Kathy and Nancy…you two are just awesome…everything you two do enables me and makes me look forward to your next podcast…loved everything you shared…Nancy, your needle has been so busy and loved Kathy’s memories of her retreat at Amana…thanks so much, wishing you two the best, and happy stitching ❤❤
Came across your channel while stitching, and thought you two looked familiar but just kept on stitching then you made a comment to Burley Idaho. OMGosh I am from Rupert. How fun. Great channel keep them coming.
Good grief you two -what achieving enablers you are! I really enjoy your videos. You ought to come down to Logan on the 2nd Thursdays and stitch with us”Needlers”. Always a lot of fun.
Cathy, hope you enjoy A Change and a Parting. I grew up near there and looked at it for years but finally found it at a used book sale. It sat on my shelf for years but finally read it last winter and really enjoyed it.
I am so very excited about the SAL for Auntie's Sewing Box. I received the pattern for my birthday in October. I am just finishing up my Christmas gifts and getting them finished, so I will be ready on your birthday for a new start. Can't wait.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I really enjoy watching you both, hope some day can go to one of the retreats, with my kids at school 🙃, but I’ll be at the Jingle Ball 👠👑🙏🏻
Nancy how wonderful to have those finishes. Love both your show and tell. Very inspiring. I look forward to visiting with you on the 15th, my 16th. Blessings and happy stitching.
Y’all are amazing!!!! Y’all give us the best ideas! Nancy I loved seeing all the Stacy Nash, I’m working on a couple of hers and it was nice to see your finished pieces. Thanks ladies!
Great video and very inspiring! Love all the finishes and your plans. It sounds like a retreat would be so much fun, maybe someday…I look forward to your next video!
Great tip for adding paper to the back! Just brown kraft paper? I buy it in a roll at Dollar Tree. I did Whitaker in uncounted cross stitch, a few years ago. I loved the pattern, but just didn't want to do counted cross stitch, so I compromised. I bought a ticket for the ball. It should be fun, even if I'm doing punch needle.
Nancy, your birthday is on St. Nicholas day which is my name day and my birthday is on December 17 so we have a common month for birthdays. I hope your SAL goes well. I am busy trying to do some special baby gifts for Christmas so I will think of you and do my little thing while you do yours. Loved hearing all about the Amana retreat Kathy. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not to far from you. Just a few hours away. After the craziness of the holidays. I would like to make it to one of your Tuesday stitchy get togethers.
Love your stitching and video thanks for sharing your finishes and all your guilting so beautiful Happy Birthday my birthday is the same as yours Dec 6 Happy Stitching from York, Pennsylvania
WOW! How amazing to have all those finishes! Beautiful and that quilt too,I would like to make that quilt for my sewing room…so glad that you had a great time at your retreat, sounds like so much fun…hope I can go to one someday and those shops sound like they have all the stitching and quilting that I love to do…As always I love, love, love your videos your both are so talented and inspiring with everything you make! Thank you for the backing on the framing technique that’s amazing 😳 😮I’m going to try it!☺️
Thank you so much, Jerri! I used 20ct Linaida in the color vintage country mocha, which is mottled on one side and plain on the other. I stitched on the mottled side with one floss thread over one. 😊
Wow oh wow! Your finishes are amazing! I have not started my Winter rosewood manor either! I’ve had it kitted up for three months but am trying to finish a fall piece first. Soon! Happy stitching!
Would love a little tour of your farmhouse wall sometime. Amana is wonderful. We passed through one time but it was late and most of shops were closed. Great finishes ...love the quilt.
You two are just amazing and inspirational with how much you work on and finish. I always love seeing your FFOs. Since I chimed in regarding the volume issue last time, I wanted to follow up and say this time I could hear both of you fine on volume level 10 instead of cranking it up to 30. Nice work, ladies!
Hi gals. Love your video and all your stitching quilting and crafting projects. I was so excited to hear you are going to the Quilters Station retreat. That’s the session Roberta and I are going to attend. I can’t wait to meet you both. Maybe we can have a dinner meet or something. Counting down the days. Nancy, this was the first retreat I ever attended also. You will have so much fun. ❤️🪡✂️🧵
Cathy, your tip about how to put brown craft paper on the back of a picture frame was fabulous. Please let us know where you recommend we buy the appropriate quality brown craft paper. Also, please consider doing a demo of you putting craft paper on a frame and spraying it with water. Your tip about spraying the paper with water scared me. I'd feel better about trying your technique if I saw you do it first. :-D Thank you both for your fascinating video!
Hi Sharon! I could do a demo of the paper spraying for sure. I just use brown packaging paper, but you can use any kind of paper. I’ve even used a brown paper bag when I didn’t have anything else. It works like magic! 😊
I seriously drool during every one of your flosstubes. You both have beautiful stitching, gorgeous quilting and an impressive amount of talent in other crafts. There is so much inspiration in on this channel. I'd like to know which embroidery machine Nancy has. Her We Wisk You a Merry Christmas quilt is going to be so cute.
Thanks for sharing your stitching. Nancy, you are getting a lot accomplished. Flosstube is my “ stitching friend” as I don’t have anyone in my life that stitches. I would love to be able to join you for your stitching group, but I am not close to Burley, Idaho. So, I will look forward to your next video and stitch while I see your stitching progress. BTW, you two enabled me, I bought the Swoon 16 pattern and it will be a project for the new year.
Great video! Everything was just gorgeous! I don't get too far from home either, even though Quilters Station is only 80 miles away. I am going to stay home. Maybe another year. 😉
Where is the Quilting Station? I know of one I believe in Lee's Summit, MO. Love all your cross stitch. I have the Hollyberry Farm Christmas cross stitch, that I am wanting to start. Thank you for the motivation!
Love all the crafts and finishes! Wow! The retreat sounds amazing. Glad you had a great time. I've been on the fence about the Jingle Ball since I wasn't going to be available for one of the days. But for $10, I guess I don't have a lot to lose & will give it a try.
In your last video you mentioned stitching at Perkins in Burley. My nephew’s wife manages the restaurant and hotel. I hope to get up there one month to stitch with you!!
I love y’all ❤🫶🏼🧵✂️🪡☕️. I went to country stitches online and got my bittersweet pattern , ordered a mill hill, and my quilting dreams are in the mail (fabric) ❤😅 y’all inspire me so much. I’m truly grateful. I’ve been so intimidated to branch out and try things. Hence owning a super duper sewing machine and never plugged it up yet 😅 🙏🏼 but fear of failure is out the door. Thank you both dearly. Also how about a SAL for your bday? 🎉yeeeeeehawwwwwwee
Hi Stacy! Don’t be afraid to try something new! It’s the only way we learn how to do things. Just remember, everything takes practice and it won’t be perfect the first time, but once you get started, you can only go up from there! 😊
I’m working on it a little slower. The big needle and thick floss (DMC perle cotton #8) hurt my hands after an hour or so, so it’s taking me a little longer. 😊
Hi Doris! There are a lot of really good tutorials on different techniques of applique. Lori Holt, Lori McCleary (Textilust on Flosstube), Olivia B on Flosstube and I know several others were done last year so they should be easy to find 😊
Hii ladies. Great video. I was wondering why you didn't use crushed walnuts in your pin cushion. I have them but haven't used them yet. I have a small cushion that I use to put my feet up on the coffee table and I stuffed that with fabric scraps and some polyester stuffing. It has held its shape well. Maybe that would work for a pin cushion? I love the colors in the quilts. I have one I have to finish but really into my x stitching right now. I like Pieceful Times and already subscribe. I watch LalaDee Stitches too.
Hi Julie! We do use walnut shells to stuff with, it just depends on the look we are wanting. I love the weight of walnut shells for drums and pin keeps. I usually use walnut shells along with polyester stuffing, stuff the corners with poly, the middle with shells. It works really well. Fabric scraps would work as well as pine shavings and wool roving. Anything you want to try will probably be fine! 😊
Nancy orders all her fabric online. If you order overdyed fabric it is soft. Fabric from Wichelt seems to be the stiffest to work with. Fat Quarter Shop and 123 Stitch as well as local needlework stores sell the overdyed Aida. 😊
Your videos are fun and informational! Nancy, I have a question about the wax you use on your frames. Can you elaborate on what you use and how? I think I’ve watched all your videos and don’t think I’ve seen you talk about this in any detail (unless I missed it). Thank you.
Thanks for asking! We are recording a video in the morning and we are talking about framing so we will talk about wax as well. There are several kinds you can use, so we will explain what we have been doing. 😊
Thank you for these wonderful videos you are doing. I don’t cross stitch, but I love hand and machine embroidery , wool appliqué and quilting. Can you explain the cards you got at the retreat? Some look like a bigger business card? And some I think are used for floss? LOL about the steal or fireball shots gift exchange. It is so wonderful to see and hear about girlfriends getting together and creating!
Hi Ellen! The cards are floss cards that people make from photos they have taken or find pictures they like. They have holes punched at the top and bottom so you can hang your floss from them and put the cards on a ring. You get a lot of variety from everyone! 😊
Another video full of inspiration! That's great you got all your fall wips done, Nancy. You have some beautiful Christmas ones to finish. I loved both of your finishes on Where the Bittersweet Blooms! Nancy, what wood did you buy for your board? I have trouble finding wood that thin. The retreat sounds so fun, Cathy. I love the Amana Colonies. I went to college not far from there. And we have much in common... I grew up on a SD ranch with no TV until 5th grade, so books and board games were our entertainment too. Now my grandkids are growing up there, however they do have TV! I sure enjoy seeing your wool stitching. I've just started doing wool and I love it.
Thanks for watching, Karen! Nancy used 1/4” birch plywood for the board. I think she got it at Lowes or Home Depot. Isn’t it great to grow up on a ranch? I loved it. 😊
You ladies have a lot of stitching experience, how do you keep track on a colored paper pattern? I hear some floss tubers state that they don't write on their patterns. On complicated colored paper patterns( like the demensions gold patterns), how do you keep your place on the pattern?
A lot of times we make a working copy and highlight what we have stitched. I also use a line keeper that I got from Fat Quarter Shop. It’s magnetic and clips to your chart so you can see what line you are on.😊
I loved seeing your same stitch, different finishes. They both were great! My sister was at the retreat, too. She was the one who has a broken back. It sounds like you had a blast! 💜
On the quilting bee design...I thought dmc 3012 and 730 blended together too much... especially when I got to the block with the words. I ended up doing 471 instead of the 3012 for the leaves. Now it looks more like the pic on the pattern.
I wonder if Heart in Hand got permission from Elton John to use the saying? That’s from his song “Your Song”. I had trouble with Anchor floss shredding, too. Won’t use it again.
I can hear you Nancy! Yeah lol. Your quilt is beautiful and all the stitchy stuff you ladies made is stunning also. I always enjoy your videos as your both so happy.❤
Oh thank you!😊
Playing catch-up with all my floss tube friends and omg 😱 I enjoyed seeing all your beautiful ffo’s and finishes love the quilt top and your embroidery.

Thanks so much for watching, Nancy! When I was a little girl I remember Dad calling errant cows “you old so-n-so“ because he didn’t want to swear in front of us kids. It’s kind of funny we are using that for our flosstube name 🤣

Ditto to You!!!! ❤
Hi! Yep, brown craft paper. I’ve even used brown paper grocery bags.😊
Thanks so much for watching, Nicole! 😊

Kathy, what fabric and count did you use for “All Creatures Great and Small”? It is beautiful!
Thank you so much, Jerri! I used 20ct Linaida in the color vintage country mocha, which is mottled on one side and plain on the other. I stitched on the mottled side with one floss thread over one. 😊

Hi Iris! I usually use Aleene’s Tacky Glue. If you are attaching something to metal, I would use E6000 as it will stick to metal.😊
@@sewnsews6389 I love that. Do you 2 make them?
@@ellenmcmahon4459 I had some and gave them all away. I am going to reprint them!
I loved it. 😊
@@sewnsews6389 Thanks for the info, Cathy.
@@karenjohnson8177 you are welcome!
Oh, poor Vicki! I hope she is feeling better!!
Thanks for another wonderful video! What kind of wax do you put on the thrift store frames?
Hi Kathy! We use Bri Wax. It comes in a can in different colors and you can get it at Lowes or Home Depot. 😁
On the quilting bee design...I thought dmc 3012 and 730 blended together too much... especially when I got to the block with the words. I ended up doing 471 instead of the 3012 for the leaves. Now it looks more like the pic on the pattern.
Thank you for letting us know, Melody! 😊
OMG, never have I done a sal, but…..my birthday is December 6th also, can you say enabler???
😂 But it is really cute and it’s going to be really fun to stitch together! You and Nancy are birthday twins! 😁🎉
I wonder if Heart in Hand got permission from Elton John to use the saying? That’s from his song “Your Song”. I had trouble with Anchor floss shredding, too. Won’t use it again.
She probably had to, don’t you think? Thanks for watching!😊
