    Thanks, Glynn, for this post, it answers most of my questions about plugs and twists straight away. It's especially good to come across this video because earlier today I ordered from GQ a chunk of one of the featured tobaccos, Sam Gawith's Full Virginia Plug. Great service & much appreciated :-)

    Glynn, great video. It was fascinating seeing all the different types of tobaccos and the different cutting blends. Please keep these videos coming! You mentioned that plugs and flakes age differently. Could you elaborate? I love SG Balkan flake, and I've seen that you have Balkan plug. (The only person who has it I believe) I had wanted to order but the UK prices are considerably higher than simply buying the flake format. What would the potential benefit of the plug format be?

    • @glo0115
      @glo0115  10 років тому +1

      The main difference in the aging is a plug has less surface area, so holds the moisture/oils in tighter. I tried glp jackknife plug & rr with a few years and the plug was richer and smoother. It's the same with flakes & plugs.
      As for prices, yeah I hear your pain on that one. We cry when looking on American sites :p

    Boy do I want to take a trip to England! Here in the US we have so few real/proper tobacconists, and they're spread-out over hundreds upon hundreds of square miles. When I finally make it across the pond I'll have to pay this shop a visit! I know this video's a bit old in internet years but it's hardly outdated.

      You guys have it much better over there - more selection and lower prices. There are maybe three or four half-decent brick and mortar tobacconists in the whole of London, but their prices are ridiculous when compared with online prices in the US.

      Thanks for saying that.
      I will be honest I stopped doing videos when Garren was born & I started GQ as I had no time.
      Now another kid later and working for myself still, I still couldn't fit it in. Plus I'm out of the loop industry news wise and with reviews I ran out of things to say. No matter how you cut it, we have at best 12 types of tobacco and everything is just variations or hybrids of them. Only so much you can say before you're just repeating the last lat heavy English or grassy VaPer.
      I know this video is different as its not news or a review but the same applies.
      Again buddy thanks for your kind comment, but my days of shooting a video several times, an evening of editing and hours replying comments are over. Sorry its not a different answer

    GQ,
    I'm trying to learn how to caller bulk pipe tobacco, and understand that mason jars are best in doing so...but is it really necessary to create an airtight seal on the jar. I saw a video where someone put a jar with tobacco in the microwave for only 10 seconds, (just to warm it up and bring out a tad of moisture) and then screw the lid on to get it to seal, with the popping center seal tight. Can doing this ruin the weed? Is this necessary, or shoulD I just fill the jar and screw in the lid? What is the best way to cellar bulk weed?

  • @DannoCrutch

    Ineed! I love Plugs, especially SG VA or St. James. I like to try to cut them as thin as possible, so a ribbon is made. I also use a nylon piece of cutting board on top of the plug, as well as the typical under the plug. With the smallest amount of tobacco protruding from the two boards, I use a nice cleaver style knife and hold it at about 45 degrees at the beginning of the cut so, the blade's side is contacting both the top and bottom cutting board edges. Then I start a slice and it goes through the baccy very easily. I think the thinner cut makes for a more flavorful bowl.
    Do you sell those GQ Tobacco Coffee Cups in your store? I want one!
