Yeah I think one of my big issues that I keep going back to -- Nic Cage was perfect for this role. And this would have been a spellbinding performance, in my mind. BUT. Nic Cage has done cooky so many times, it massively undercuts the impact. Which is such a shame! If we'd never seen this actor before, I think there'd be no question he did a fantastic job. But I got way too pulled out of the really effective atmosphere, because it was obviously *Nic Cage* being *Nic Cage*. Which was a shame. (Also the ending totally lost me - it felt like a bad answer to a question we hadn't really asked, and it was answered really rapidly. Dunno. That might just be me.)
