Photosynthesis is Life Song. Here is a video I created for my 6th grade science students to help them study.I hope you enjoy.
Every living thing needs energy
But plants and algae make their energy different ways
They just sit there and they search the sky
Capturing sunlight, making food and oxygen
Photosynthesis is life
I can tell you what it really is
I can also tell you what it's really like
That's right, the word Photo means light
That the plants like
Synthesis-putting together
Making food, right?
Plants and others use the light
That they hope it's bright
Comes from the sun
Energy's great
Helping their growth rate
Converting CO2 and water
To a new state
At the first stage collecting rays
Plants accumulate it
Chloroplasts hoard it
And use it
Wait
Where's it going?
Green organelles
Inside the cell
Chloroplasts
Small green sacs
Pigments chemical
In vesicles
The chlorophyll is good
No it's great
They're solar cells powering the organelles
Colored capsules
But maybe orange
And yellow
Usually covered up
By green
The main pigment
But they're always masked up
The sun's rays on 'em
Filling energy power up
Captures light powers the second stage

You ever really know plants are alive
They really breathe
In the leaves stomata
Producing sugars
H2O, CO2
Got the roots absorbing water
From the soil
Yeah, it gets 'em
Now it's moving, sucking it
Through the plant stem
You see they have openings
Stomata breathing
Now the water, CO2
Is in the leaves and these moves
To chloroplasts
They push
Pull chemical reactions
Making O2 and glucose (sugar)
Now is the moment
For the equation
6 molecules of CO2
And oxygen
Adding light energy
Gives 1 glucose
And also 6 molecules
Of oxygen
Using sugar for food
Some molecules
Convert to compounds
Sugars become cellulose
Or stored
For later use
Next time you eat a plant
Know that you're getting energy
Life comes from our heated sun
All the living things
Get their energy from it
Out the window
See the sunlight out the windowpane

Breathing
That's not what we mean
Cells withdraw out
Energy from glucose
That they contain
It is the respiration equation
To make energy
Add up 6 glucose
6 oxygen
Makes 6 water
6 CO2
Plus the energy
No light in the relationship
As crazy as this may seem
In the cytoplasm
Glucose molecules broken smaller molecules
Second stage is up
So here we go, yo
Come inside
Respiration in mitochondria
Molecules get broken down to even smaller
These chemical reactions
They require oxygen
In time a great
Deal of energy
Is released out
That's why
Mitochondria are
Sometimes called
Powerhouses of the cell
Photosynthesis
Co2 and water
Makes oxygen and sugar
But in the process of respiration
Sugar and oxygen
Produce Co2 and water
