- Design by Decade explores the period from the Second World War until the end of the 1950s in Canada, examining some of the most interesting modern design objects that represent this flourishing era.
The post-war period in Canada was a golden age of progress and production. After the Second World War, Canada found itself in a time of affluence and industrial growth. As the nation developed into a true consumer society the manufacturing sector reacted to meet new needs, producing modern objects for people to enjoy.

what a fantastic documentary. thank u for uploading it
I cant tell you how many old electric things i use, like the GE tea pot. Mine is late 50s/early 60s, and i have a 1920s percolator coffee pot for when my newer mr coffee's break down. My waffle iron is 20s or 30s and works great too. my house was built in 1920, and i have clocks from the late 1700s through 50s. I bought a pink 1956 stove and added new burners and it works and looks better then the glass top stove i tossed to the curb.
Modern objects to do what with? Consume/pollute . . .
The opposite for me. My kettle was made in 1940 and furniture in 1950.
Zero impact on today’s environment.
@@jthunders0 Wow/inspiring! I'm not that good.
