I like the fact that they are still evolving their craft and living their love of music and production. Proving that there is no cap on creativity. Glad to see they are still friends too! wishing many more years of success to these brothaz!
Impeccably produced documentary. It truly captured the era. Salute to the legendary MC Frescho and DJ Miz on this 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. This documentary needs to be on TUBI.
Freshco thank you for showing me and the world of real emceeing is about in the 90's. I appreciate what you and miz brought to the table. I myself used to freestyle battle rap against guys in my high school and later became the best in my school (simon gratz high in philly lol!) You inspired my rhyming ability I later got into battle djing because of jeff, cash money and miz all whom I met and idolize. Again Thank you! You and miz are truly hiphops unsung heroes
the pure hip hop dynamic duo EVER!!!...i hope these two brothers keep in touch because they grabbed hip hop by the horns at such a young age and earned the respect of so many hip hop heavyweights!...still got my Freshco & Miz cassette single always loved Dj's and Miz is my favorite then Cut Master Cool Vee!...well done with this documentary Fresco you truly are a jack of all trades!
Networth. This is the shit I bring up to strictly Eminem fans and they'll shut on it and talk about sales and all that other shit. I just laugh at them clowns cuzz. They don't understand the culture and all that it encompasses. Yell
TY SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS-WAS WAITING FOR THE FULL STORY-I WAS AT THE 1989 NEW MUSIC SEMINAR AT THE RED ZONE IN NEW YORK WHEN THESE 2 WON THEIR BELTS-WHAT A MOMENT.
Much respect to Frescho and Miz because coming up in those days in Hip Hop, and to win World Supremacy was a HUGE deal, and this was before social media but the word spread quickly lol! I graduated from Overbrook with Miz, and seen him not too long ago and he's always been a solid and humble brother.
DOPE!!! I always wondered what ever happened to Fresco and Miz. I really wanted you guys to blow up back in those days but I was disappointed because I felt you guys didn't get the shine that you deserved. This is an excellent documentary and it should be on VH1. I'm just saying. Good to see you in good health. PEACE!!!
I'm glad I was fortunate enough to witness a lot of great Dj & Mc battles growing up in philly..Cosmic Ke 6:11 v,AJ & the Rock Brothers, SEX Machine, Strike Force,Grandmaster Nell,Dj Lightening Rich & Cash money,Perry P,Lady B etc...
AMAZING DOCUMENTARY!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the best I have seen by far.. I have lived in both cities and I can relate..... New Music coming Sun-Raw aka Sunny Freshco...
DJ Wiz got super real @ 57:57. This is what the average music listener doesn't understand about what gets pushed. People will buy damn near anything if it's packaged properly. Moving records with the machine behind you is much easier. The hard part is convincing the people who actually are the pushers that you're worthy of being pushed. It's why Chief Keef and Trinidad James are known and artists like Chuuwee and Reks are fairly obscure.
@ShawnConrad. My jaw is still on the floor!. Holy Fuck!...these two are phenomenal. Thank you very much for the education lesson of what are two of the best i've heard, Nice work on the upload
I think this was a definite beautiful documentary. I remember DJ MIZ from Overbrook High School he was a really good person then and I'm glad that he has been blessed with great talent As well as his partner in crime MC FRESCO bless them both and keep up the great work OL SKOOL FOREVER. 👍👍👍👍 West Philly the Bottom all day and South West Philly. Yessssssss Sirrrrrrrr.
Shawn Conrad Love to see your story get told. You two are Hip-Hop Legends. Much respect! And shout out to Brooklyn and Southwest Philly, two special places to me. Didn't know DJ Miz was from that part of town. When I lived in Philly I lived on Baltimore Ave and practically lived on Whitby Ave, just a few streets over from Miz. SW is my favorite part of Philly and a second home to this Dirty Jerz native.
Good for these brothers! I really dug what they did back then. I remember speaking to Miz on South Street back then, in instead of being on airs he was way kool. :0)
i was there the day you won the mc battle. you battled mc serge from cleveland. i am shooting a documentary on cleveland hip hop and may be interested in interviewing you
Freshco and Miz was super dope!!! S/o to BK and Illa-delph from the DMV! My mentor and brother P. from Flatbush used to tell me about Professor Paul (I met Paul myself in like '95 when I was rolling w/the Bushwackass) and E.S.P. (s/o to Mr. Speed) and peace to Dj Enuff who was big in breaking my fam the Bushwackass joints like Caught Up IN the Game...much love and respect...Salute real Hip-Hop!
They won the seminar the year after me and dj scratch won. Seems like me battling Melle Mel has been erased from hip hop history. Salute to Fresco and Miz.
Salute to Speed from ESP and I see my man Professor Paul in the joint one of the baddest on the wheels too (both grew up with my Sensei Kedar Malak aka Sir Lord Professor P from Flatbush)!!! This documentary is 🔥🔥🔥
Word up! Great doc. Excellent job.Love these two super cats. Amazing skills on the mic and the turntables. Just wish things at Tommy Boy had turned out better. I have the Ain't U Freshco & the 4 At A Time 12"'s but an album was needed out there- it would have been the bomb for sure in '90. I mean just listen to 'And All That'! Tommy Boy dropped the ball totally. Major pox on Tommy Boys part 'cos these dudes were super talented. I just hope that the F&M album is in the can somewhere and can get it's overdue release. Someone, some label - lets get this sorted. Dudes are still waitin'.
This is the true art form of hip hop i remember listening to them back in 1988 when only a few people new of them. we don't play straight classic and as i will alway's say all praise's do to allah who came in the person of master fard muhammad for all praise's due forever peace!
Wow these guys should of really blew up. They had skills. @ around 25:32 into the movie they are playing an instrumental track in the background. Anybody by any chance knows the name of that tune? I remember hearing this song around 81 or 82 same time when Planet Rock first came out.
Damn, how come I never heard of these two??? Watching this shit brought back memories, and gave me chills when Miz was rocking the tables and Freshco rocking the mic. The bullshit on the radio today can't compare to the era of hip hop in this documentary!!!
These "computer pre-program set" DJ's today need to watch this. Miz was a monster ! Salute to the Philly DJ's !!!!!!! Oh, yeah, Queen B did not invent "slayed" We used the word to described ill shit back in the day !!!!!!!!!
Dope, indie Philly MC from the 90s, sort of Freddie Foxxxish... did songs with EST, Phat Cat Clique, Steady B, etc. Miz even co-owned the label that was putting him out.
Dope! But this doc makes it seem like Freshco & Miz made the one record and then vanished... Overlooking stuff like Freshco's "Planet Brooklyn" EP years later, or Miz producing for The Lux and more ill hip-hop they did through the later 90s. We need a sequel! XD

Philly/Brooklyn always had a connection in Hip Hop
the pure hip hop dynamic duo EVER!!!...i hope these two brothers keep in touch because they grabbed hip hop by the horns at such a young age and earned the respect of so many hip hop heavyweights!...still got my Freshco & Miz cassette single always loved Dj's and Miz is my favorite then Cut Master Cool Vee!...well done with this documentary Fresco you truly are a jack of all trades!
This was truly a dope documentary. I remember these songs... This takes me back to era of Hip-Hop!!!
Networth. This is the shit I bring up to strictly Eminem fans and they'll shut on it and talk about sales and all that other shit. I just laugh at them clowns cuzz. They don't understand the culture and all that it encompasses. Yell
You can tell that FRESCHO influenced so many rappers. At 20:56 this sounds just like DAS FX.
