Many thanks for the distillery tour Ben! It's always great to get a peek inside a traditional dunnage warehouse and see the casks in their year-long slumbers. Great interview in the tasting room, too. BenRiach's peated expressions are truly top class - and that's coming from a dedicated Islay fan - with the Curiositas getting things started. Yep, it's truly fresh, sweet, citric and smoky all at the same time. Interesting to hear that some barrels of the standard 10yo unpeated are also vatted into the final mix. I've also enjoyed the 17yo peated Septimdecim and the 25yo peated Authenticus, which is absolutely stunning. It just shows that the Speyside peated expressions don't need to hide behind their non-peated, perhaps better known market leaders. These peated drams are simply wonderful in their own right. Cheers!
I am a BenRiach fan! I was able to pick up a few bottles of their 16 year old sauternes wine barrel finish a few years ago, and enjoyed sharing a wee fireside dram with you as I watched this video. Thank you, Ben, for bringing the distillery into my living room! I sincerely enjoyed the educational experience! Hope to add a bottle of the 21 year old to my collection!
Im Islay and heavily peated whisky lover, but for some reasone cant stand Curiositas. It was probably first age stated scotch single malt, that for me was awfull.
I love Scotch & Bourbon Distillery visits. They all look the same, but these are still my favorite videos you do.
Very cool educational video of BenRiach and Scotch.!!..........Slainte!
One of my favourite distillaries. Its not for the faint of heart but love the stuff. Cheers Ben.
