I was 11 in 1972, a little white girl in Georgia, from loony and abusive fundamentalists. I remember it like yesterday... her bravery and courage to envision - and move! - herself inside hostile spaces made a very deep impression on me. I love her so much.

Mom took my brother and me to Poland after the Democratic Convention of 1968. I somewhat recall the riots but went to school in Poland, for the most part. Am ashamed I had no clue what was going on here, even before I was born.

Old and white, I was 13 when Chisholm won her senate seat. I remember the high regard my parents had for her and how they often talked over the years about how amazing she was. Years later was surprised, she wasn't even our Senator (MN) and that she was black. She moved the world bit by bit. I am so excited and hopeful for the USA and know Senator, Shirley Chisholm is smiling down on all of us. Many thanks for todays walk down memory lane and the hope for today.

There is an infection in this country. As an older White male, I’ve been touched by it too. I grew up in a defacto segregated White community. I only vaguely remember Shirley Chisholm. But going to a major university opened my eyes. Vietnam opened my eyes. The civil rights movement opened my eyes. I was proud to march. But at 72, I still carry the infection of racism and gender bias within me. It surfaces in subtle and largely unconscious ways. We, all of us, must strive to become conscious and mindful. We must strive to check ourselves. We must strive to ensure our progeny grow up free of old world stereotypes and bigotries.

I remember how delighted I was in that election cycle when they lowered the voting age to 18 down from 21 years of age. They did it just in time for me and my politically conscious friends to vote. I was 20 years old then and remember how disgruntled many of us were because of the fact that we could be drafted and sent to die in the Vietnam war at the age of 18 but we were not allowed to vote. I went to a school in the urban area where they were even pulling some 18 year old boys out of the classroom and sending them to Vietnam and not allowing them to finish high school. I never saw them again, but when I went to Washington D.C. later on I saw their names on the Vietnam memorial.

What freedom is she talking about? The freedom to abort babies up to the 9th month? Taht is murder not freedom. She speaks about reproductive freedom as if anybody stops people from reproducing.

I am not surprised. Men be they Black, White, Latino, Democrat, Republican, feel somehow threatened by strong women. Their attitudes have changed now a little but overall I still feel there is still angst among them. Especially in the US and in Australia, people are so backward in believing that women can do as good a job as a man in politics. Of course some political parties cannot handle that. The Republican in the US and the Lnp in Australia. However, it is unfortunate that the women in the LNP are as crooked as the men in the LNP. Coming to the US, the men in both parties have this reluctance. I felt that some men in the Democratic party were not so quick to endorse VP Harris and one of them still is sitting on the fence. I deduced this from listening to him being interviewed recently. So women in the US get behind VP Kamala Harris. She is going to be just fine.

See: UA-cam-Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me' PSA. It begins with her stating, "I'm Lesley Gore & I approve this message." It ends with her saying, "I recorded 'You Don't Own Me' in 1964. It's hard for me to believe, but we're still fighting for the same things we were then. Yes, ladies, we've got to come together, get out there & vote & protect our bodies. They're ours. Please vote."

this boomer born, 60's hippy is overjoyed to see today's youth finally get politically charged like my 60's generation was. we stopped the viet war, we insisted on civil rights, womens' rights, environmental justice when we could, but unfortunately there just weren't enough of us back then. young uns have better numbers today, better communications and better educations than we ever had. get woke, stay woke!

Progress in what? All she talks about is being able to abort babies up to the 9th month and that she will insure your reproductive freedom as if anybody stops a person from reproducing now.
      Any word on:
      how she will lower inflation?
how she will improve the economy?
      how she ill stop wars?
how she will pay back the $35 trillion, TRILLION this administration accrued?
      how she will improve education?
how she will get jobs for the 20 million illegal immigrants she let in?
      how will she house them?
For the moment we are paying billions for their 5 stars hotel rooms, air fares, new phones, healthcare, lawyer fees, education, spending money and giving them SS cards and ID so they can vote.
We were forced to accept her as nominee. There was no primary. Only a handful of people voted for her. In 2020 she was ousted in the primaries, she had no votes.
      How is that democratic?
I would surely want to have Trump's regress to $1.75 for gasoline, inflation only 1.3%, no illegals, no crime, no wars and no debt of $35 TRILLION and still spending Hundreds of billions on Ukraine and 20 million illegal immigrants
