The old capercaillie is back on a new playground.

In May 2016 I got the first pictures of this capercaillie male on the display (lek). It was either two or three years old that time. In 2018 he got all the females on this display and was a very dominant capercaillie. The same in 2019. In 2020 he lost a fight with a challenger after several days with the females and 45 matings. This year (2021) it was back in place and the female birds began to gather in the trees around the playground. Then came a challenger and it was a real fight. The old capercaillie snuck away and I did not see it until I saw some capercaillie activity 125 meters to the south some days later.
