Absolutely happy to hear that this looks great on 4K. I picked up my copy recently, but have yet to watch it. Thanks for the comparison and the spotlight, Brian!
Great review Brian! I was wondering what you were going to say about it, I recently ordered it, but haven't received it yet, I have that Criterion release, and the other day I watched the mgm dvd release and it has a decent picture, testament to the cinematography by Stanely Cortez. Can't wait to see it again lol
I still don't have 4k discs player or 4k TV set but being myself a great fan of Classic movies and I'm seriously thinking of buying them. Is it true that Black and White old films look amazing on 4K treatment?. I watch Classic films on Blu-ray and they look just great. Would you be kind enough to give some information about this subject?. Thanks so much. I enjoyed watching your Video 💯
Yes. Even something like Arrow's 4k scan of The Apartment on bluray looks mind blowing on a 4k player & tv. 4k prints on blu all seem to be noticeably upscaled on a decent setup. Colors aside, some 4k discs are better than others.
I believe this is also the first home video release of the film in widescreen. It's a pretty drastic change IMO, and judging on the screen caps, I'm not sure which version I prefer.
Just got my disc in the mail today. Can't wait to watch the Tim Lucas commentary!
Enjoy! He always does a nice job!

Excellent job on the overview of this great film and disc. So much so that I am now subscribed to you. I have the 4k coming this week.
Hey thanks so much! And thanks for the sun! Much appreciated!

@@Pomeray8 thanks so much for your information. I think I'd buy the new stuff next fall. Classic Black and white films are definitely my favorite!

Had no idea it was the first widescreen release
Paul Gregory produced Laughton's classic stage appearances in DON JUAN IN HELL and JOHN BROWN'S BODY.
