  • The further development of ConnX, the new “hybrid solution” comprised of a ropeway and autonomous vehicles, is progressing with great strides. Together with the Slovenian experts of Elaphe, LEITNER is currently testing the innovative mobility solution intensively in the test lab in Sterzing. The progress is a positive sign and supports the ambitious goal of making the patented system ready for the market as a future model for urban transport in the next two years.

Dumb question but are you planning to use these as alternative to buses to reach certain areas?
If so it should be sitting on public roads because I'm not so sure cities would be interrested in building entire structures for this.
The main drawback for road service is the guide rail that's way too massive to pass under certain cars, you might want to evolve it into something smaller.
The center of mass also seems to be quite high, I'm no expert but wouldn't it be better to create a U shape between both axles to lower the cabin thus making the vehicule more stable?
You could also change the rims for flat models without any sort of holes to increase autonomy, but it's just details at that point.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the concept and I'm convinced that it's more practical than Doppelmayr's version, I just think that some things should change to make it more appealing, especially the possibility to run it on roads that'd be a huge advantage, not only for downtows but also for airports transport hubs.
I honestly don't expect engineers to change this many things at this point of the projet, but I hope they'll consider some of these for future upgrades.

I read somewhere that in the future the vehicles should drive completely autonomously. but since the autonomous technology is not yet mature, they have the rail in use for the time being. The challenge seems to me the uncoupling process, and the syncronization of car and cabin.

@@mountainstar5585 I almost talked about automatisation but I thought that the devloppement would cost a lot for Leitner.
They might have to cooperate with a car company to automate their ConnX, that's what I'd do if I were them.

The purpose of the ropeway is to fly over the land not become a car

You have to see this as a bus that's able to fly when requiered, that's the reason.
Some places like industrial sites and residential neighborhoods have to be connected to reach a maximal efficiency, and building a ropeway station in a neighborhood will hit protests and the lack of room, while the ConnX could serve multiple stops in such a place.
