I am 75 years old with a lung transplant. I hiked Longs Peak when I was 30. Hard to believe 45 years have gone by!
THANKS CRAIG for letting us re-hike this trip--My wife and I did it last in September 1971, 51 years ago this fall.
I don't know about you, but I think I have slowed down in the last 51 years.
My first watch and like of you channel. I'm 71 live in Loveland for 20 years looking at Longs Peak from the bottom up. Just had open hert surgery and a pacemaker installed. If I get to where I can hike and breath again I would like to try longs peak and look at home from the top down. This was a good sample of whats ahead. A neighbor thinks I'm crazy and told me people die on this hike every year. I'd rather crash and burn doing something I love instead of slowly rotting away one peace at a time.
This is amazing work. But what people may not realize is the extremely hard work of filming it all. Camera setup. Filming a movie. Then you go back to pick up your camera and clean myself up again. And then edit it all together. I myself have recently started making videos about nature, so I really understand how hard it is. A beautifully made video shows that you really love what you do, you inspired me alot.Greetings from India 😊❤️🌼
Kraig- this is singlehandedly the best and most beautiful video of Long's. I watch most of your videos and you are so talented. Having said that, I wouldn't minimize the effort required to safely complete the Keyhole Route, even though it is "only" Class 3. It is a long day, anyway you shake it and it will beat up a lot of hikers. You are fit and experienced. There are far too many people on this mountain that are not and shouldn't be attempting it. Rockfall in the Trough is also particularly dangerous during summer months, with lines of people kicking rock down. Helmets are always a great option. Again, it was a magnificent video and I hate to be preachy. But, people die up there and it most of the accidents are highly preventable.
Not too preachy.
Whoa, we just hiked this yesterday! Did it in one go, started at 3:30 am and summited by 9. One of the best hikes of my life!

This is my favorite video of Longs that I've seen, and I've seen many. I grew up in the shadow of it and it's always beckoned/haunted me. You just seem so at peace during the climb, which gives me confidence to possibly try it this upcoming summer of 2024. Thank you so much for sharing! 🙏
Did this hike back in 1974. I made it to the keyhole rest house, but took a look at the remainder and said no way. After seeing your footage I think I made the right choice for the time. Thanks for the video.
The effort required to share these treks with us, and the experience that Craig has in filming and editing, is amazing. So grateful and proud to be a subscriber.
well said
Shot at 5:39 is money - also if you want more big trip backpacking style - Colorado Trail has endless options, especially down in the San Juan's. Can be linked on their own or to create much bigger loops.
Another great hiked. Really like that you chose a hike close to you. Instead of having to fly far away.
Kraig - I recommend "Ice Lake" outside of Silverton. Of all the Colorado trails I've hiked that one seems to have the most lush vegetation and wildlife. Also, the state stocks the upper lake (Fuller lake) with brown trout so you can do a little fishing when you reach the top. I think the uppermost peak is around 12.5k feet high. The last time I went I lugged 15lbs of wetsuit gear and free dived Fuller Lake. Sometimes I wonder if Im the only human to ever do that 🤔. There's mostly just old, rusty miner equipment at the bottom but it was still a lot of fun. There were edible puffball mushrooms growing all around the lake so I had trout and sautéed puffball for lunch...It was great😃.
I started a youtube channel just by watching your videos Kraig ❤️. I know its an uphill for a new channel like me but I'll be consistent and make sure to improve myself with every video I make. Thanks you Kraig ❤️.
The intro gave me shivers and transported me right into the beautiful scenery ❤️
After a stressful week I felt totally calm after watching this amazing film
Thank you 🙏🏻🏴
Ps England is beautiful you know and the Lake District area is very beautiful especially! Come & visit one day 🙌🙌❤️🏴
You had pretty perfect weather! Those sections that "seemed easier than you had heard" can get pretty sketchy quickly in a storm. Been up Longs 8 times now, first time was over 14 hours round trip. Quickest time was 4:18 round trip. Pikes is still my favorite of the 14ers, (Barr trail from Manitou Springs to summit) it's just such a great trail!
1 minute into the video and I pressed the like button and I'm not even a hiker, I just loved the beautiful scenery.
In the 70’s Chasm Lake was frozen over the entire summer. Such a beautiful location. The Diamond face of Longs at roughly 2500’ vertical feet and is absolutely magnificent.
Always been waiting for your stunning video blogs. Thank you!🙏
Wonderful intro incredibly beautiful scenery and trail. Top-notch production as always. Great hike and video Kraig. Just enjoying my cold beer to it right now ;) And congratulations on the summit ascent, one video for every summit would be nice!
Best video on Longs peak I've seen so far: clear, sufficiently detailed description -- that's al I need preparing myself for this hike! Thanks! Excellent job!
One of the few videos that i don’t watch in 2x.
You are my inspiration for Hiking, Thanks.
Great trip, Kraig. Loved the views of the lake which were breathtaking. 😱👍🏻
Hahahaha. The bong and weed in your “move to Colorado starter pack” picture 😂👏🏻
After watching your video I decided to give you a few helpful ideas since you are new to the Rockies. You might consider using better shoes. Boots with steel shanks will better protect your ankles and feet. The hard granite rocks on Longs have made many hikers in tennis shoes wish they stayed home. I have had to assist people with serious ankle injuries on three separate Longs hikes. All had tennis shoes on. Your cavalier remarks about the ease of this climb help no one. Many have died on this peak . It should be taken very seriously as should all of the fourteeners. I wish you happy climbing in the Rockies.
Congratulations on the move. Living in Colorado is truly amazing. Awesome hike!
Loved this video. Perfect blend of sights, info, and commentary. A little bit of everything.
The crunch of your steps as you walk by , water in background, so soothing,.. crunch of soap grains … do appreciated!
Your videos are just absolutely mesmerizing and I can't even explain how much I appreciate them
I loved the landscapes on this trail/hike. Thank you for filming this beautiful trial/hike. 🙏
Watching from countryside India.😊
Thanks for making this video. This is the way Long's Peak is meant to be experienced. Its a great experience and this captured it all.
I'm set on doing Longs in August! I'm just hoping I get awesome weather like you experienced. And thank you for easing my anxiety over the "scary" sections. Every trail review that I read makes those scrambles seem really intense.
I have hiked many years ago. Unforgettable and breathtaking… literally!
Fall in love with the place, very quiet, calm, good weather. Thank you for the magnificent video. Really like it🤠
There is a "Trail Tax" to be paid at Chasm Lake and Boulder Field. Those marmots were waiting for payment. I was glad to see that snow field at Jim's Grove. We used to slide down that on trash bags. Thank you for the journey back!
Lolol they will collect
Great informative vid! I loved the bonus info in the 2nd half! Cheers 🙏
So happy you're in Colorado now! Please do all the videos they're so helpful.
As someone who is from Longmont, this is really cool to see! Cheers.
Hell yeah man i didn't know you moved to Colorado! Welcome brother! I was born and raised here but after moving away for a few years i knew i had to make my way back! I grew up hiking and camping all over the Rocky Mountains and i can tell you its one of the best places in the world to live if you're passionate about those things! Much love brother! Keep up the great content!
The amount and quality of self reflection and inward thinking you are afforded during your “silent” adventures must be glorious. You get to connect with God and nature while picking your shots quietly and even probably brainstorming video ideas/career ventures. Enjoy your life my friend, and keep the fantastic videos coming.
I love your vids, and this is among my favorite. Great editing!
Love this video! So glad the music is back too...Just another great video!
Very cool! Love this video a lot. Always happy to see something new from you!
I make long-format hiking touring videos of big peaks of Colorado like this. I respect the effort you put into something like this. 🙏
We used to hike Longs for cross country in high school and it's so much fun to see one of your videos in a spot I know so well. The weather looked incredible for you too!
Couldn’t think of a better way to start my week. Cheers, Kraig!
I was just on this peak yesterday! Glad to see you enjoyed it!
Welcome to Colorado brother… moved to Denver 2 years ago and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else
Stunning cinematography! Such solitude!
Love the vid as usual! Excited to see you here in CO and what you decide to hike. You should check out the San Juan National Forest range, some amazing hikes out that way! Also if your going to glacier we gotta touch base! My wife and I used to be tour guides there for a couple of seasons, would love to send a few recommendations your way. Hoping for good weather while you’re in Iceland! We just got back yesterday and it was incredible.
Yeah!!! Looking forward to Pike's Peak! Have fun in Europe. Super excited for you.
Honestly the idea of a group hike out here would be awesome! Following on the instagram now and I’ll keep an eye out for that, would be epic!
Best video of this hike I’ve ever seen. Awesome video.
Nice hike and photography. I moved in CO four years ago, and though I day hike extensively, I still haven't summitted a single 14er. Though they have their own charm, I like the hiking out of Ouray and vicinity -- involving basins, lakes, streams, canyons, forests, etc. The best hikes are in the 6-8 mile roundtrip range, with an average of 2000' elevation gain. And one can head up toward Grand Junction for a more desert environment and red rock canyons like found in Utah. Be safe and keep hiking.
THANK GOD! this made me feel so much better about summitting Longs Peak, Thanks man, I can't wait!
Welcome to Denver, I've lived here 8 years and just finished my first 14er a couple weeks ago. Loved the video, but Long's is on my "next few years, maybe" list. Enjoy your upcoming trip!
Kraig! Missed you by a couple days! I also slept at the boulder field. Quite the fun hike
Great video man will follow. This hike did look easy, you made it look easy but congrats on the summit and the perfect weather conditions. My friend and I had to turn around at the Narrows, almost ten years ago, they're not a great place to be in 40-50 mph winds...but, you didn't have that! So, I'm happy for you. Might give her another try. Thank you
Oregon has been my favourite place on earth. There are many places like Oregon, but nothing beats the people, hikers, great souls you get to meet while hiking, exploring, or just camping for weeks. Absolutely lovely and soothing video to watch after a long day of stressful work. Thank you and happy exploring.
That's interesting! I've never heard anyone say anything good about the Oregonians and I always assumed they were all a bunch of neo-fascist corporate-commie antifa types. Reading your comment has made me realize that maybe they are not all that way.
@@thelatearthurmorgan6158 coastal towns are as you described, central Oregon and eastern Oregon are the opposite
I love the music selection in this one. A huge part of why I loved your older videos (tmb, picos de europa, etc) was because the music (at least the first track) had a distinct melody with it rather than just being a pure ambient track.
Just moved to Golden and love the idea of group hikes as you mentioned. Awesome video!
Excellent video! Just found your channel and subscribed. I absolutely love RMNP and Estes Park, and will be there in 6 weeks. I can't wait to see you videos from Switzerland. My family heritage is Swiss. Be safe out there and be blessed!
Hey Man I’m so stoked you guys are settling in to CO well // Keep wandering my friend
😁 Great move to Denver and an epic hike in such a stunning area. A great place for mountain training for future endeavours.. Expertly edited as always.. I would love to visit colorama as well as the Canadian rockys. One day 🇬🇧🇨🇦🇺🇲
ua-cam.com/video/dBSySFAqyXU/v-deo.html 🔥🔥
Nice! I climbed Longs in the winter of 94 - epic trip. Love that place. Well done.
So stunning. What an amazing hike!
Love this mountain. Nice video Kraig
My all time favorite 14er is Mt. Sneffels via Blue Lakes Trail. The views are incredible, tons of wildflowers, and there are multiple ways to summit it. It is quite busy though.
Always good for my soul. Thanks brother.
Hopefully climbing Longs before the end of summer. This video has me stoked. Been in CO my whole life and am yet to do a 14er. Might as well start the trek off with a bang!
Great Film. Excited to see your European trips.
Sweet video. I just did the Keyhole Ridge a couple days ago. Probably my favorite of the variations out of The Keyhole Route and The Cables. Cables is pretty neat though.
I love the view from the boulder field campground.
Awesome! just went to RMNP a couple of days ago for vacation. Longs peak was awesome!!!
Why does this feel like a throwback Kraig Adams vid? Loved it! Thanks
Amazing video (as usual). Stay safe out there!
Beautiful shots as always. Love the idea of a local hike meetup. Will keep an eye on that
That was awesome! Your videos are amazing! If you're going to do all of the 14ers, you should save Quandary Peak for the winter (January or February). That trail is really fun to summit at that time of year (might not make a great video... but very fun).
Very beautiful landscape!!! 🐬🐬
Nice video man, thanks for sharing. Excited for Iceland 🇮🇸
Excellent video thank you for sharing.
Did this with friends a few years back and really enjoyed it.
Wow that aerial is crispy and beautiful! Giving Longs the treatment it deserves!
Love the video! I'm gonna be heading to RMNP/the Denver area in October and im trying to figure out which hikes to do. Not sure im brave enough for Longs Peak but im looking forward to more of your local videos between now and then so I can figure out where to go. Maybe I'll see ya out there 👋
Hey Kraig always love to watch your video, whether its hiking or the wedding film school. your skin always glowing like a diamond keep shining lots of love from Indian....
Got my siblings to summit this past weekend. Welcome to Colorado! Maybe I’ll see you out there, maybe fly fishing on the Gunnison.
Thank you for the beautiful scenery
This was an awesome hike! Thank you for the instructions!
I’m doing the Tour du Mont Blanc right now! Can’t even begin to imagine trail running it. I’m dead as it is. Taking an unplanned rest day right now feeling a little under the weather. Can’t wait to see that!
Awesome. Looking forward to seeing pikas in your other videos.
the majestic Chasm Lake! Lived in Estes for a while I loved exploring the Rockies!
Such incredible scenery! 😍😍
As usual great video
love your videos 👌👌
Im probably gonna do it next year when I’m 13 and it’s gonna be great
Glad to see ur enjoying Colorado! You should try mount of the holy cross, theres some real jaw dropping views on that hike.
You make the climb look so casual with the hands in the pockets! I summited Longs just two days ago and I had climbing gloves on with constant 3- to 4-point contact with the granite from the Keyhole onwards. You must have thighs (and nerves) of steel brother!
I'd rather see all your 14 mile hikes in Colorado in long format on UA-cam. I'm not a tiktok fan. Thanks for the beautiful content. The silent films are so refreshing. I get so tired of the diarrhea about the mouth youtubers out there. Thanks for sparing us the 20+ mins of filler words and bullshit.
Great summit & some very interesting stuff coming up~ It's a good time to be an avid fan of Kraig's hiking endeavours. o/
wow the intro shot is absolutely incredible Kraig! loved this solo hike of yours, thanks for taking us along with you!! new here, can't wait for more terrific adventures!
Amazing and stunning sceneries
dude! i work at a camp in estes park and my program van with the flame decal on it is in the background at the parking lot, we must’ve been there at the same time. brings back good memories of me and my campers!!!
