Can we just appreciate the detail in the city? Holy crap it looks genuinely lived in with that blend of future aesthetic, it looks so good
The B-Roll footage we were provided (what you see in the video) barely scratches the surface with how great everything looks and the variety that's there. One mission I did sent me to a location inside the extinction belt which had this amazing aesthetic, it looked as if the colour had slowly been draining out of the abandoned town, like the life of the town itself had been sucked from it.
@@JRPGGaming That sounds great. My biggest worry so far was that the locations wouldn't be interesting, but I already love the way the City looks.
This game will be my food until Tales of Arise comes out.

Here I thought this game was going to be a shallow mix of Bayonetta, DMC and Astral chain. But it seems that it takes the best elements of those and puts in the work to make it stand out. This looks amazing.
Just got done playing it and honestly it doesn't feel like either of those. The only similarities are the flashy moves but the combat is totally different which I love.
As a casual-JRPG-liker, I am in love with this game as of last night. I had no idea what to expect going in because I have mostly ignored articles about it. That is, I passed on any deep research in favor of reading the occasional headline praising it. I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. But, I found myself with some spare time last night and came across the demo while playing another. And I've never been so happy to play a demo I didn't want to play of a game I knew nothing about. It's so good. The combat is just phenomenal.
Ok, wow. This game sounds legitimately awesome. It was something I definitely was curious about, but wasn't looking into. But hearing all this sells me on buying this day 1, which has become a rarity for me.
I've been interested in this game since it was first revealed, but, much like you, my reaction was "Oh, this looks neat, I'll keep an eye on it"
The footage of the open city and exploration has blown me away, the game looks so much richer than I expected. It's definitely gonna be a must-own for me now, especially with the pedigree of the development team
I was already planning to get this cuz of the Tales of feel i got from it. Hearing you speak on this reconfirms my hype for it!
I tried the demo. Definitely shorter than the hands-on you got to play but still freakin' awesome. I'm getting this. Every ability flows together so naturally and the game expects you to use them thoughtfully even if the demo's super-generous with the items. I'm looking forward to being able to expand characters' skills and develop some uniqueness to my fighting style as well.
Side note: The healing items are basically Gels if you read the description. Those cheeky bastards. XD

Awesome review! So excited for this game along with Tales of Arise. Definitely a pre order for this. Its a great year for JRPG games. (Nier Replicant, Ys IX Monstrum Nox, Persona 5 Strikers, and Atelier Ryza 2)
I really loved the demo I got to play. Played Kasane's bit and then Yuito. So very good! Really liked the combat and I'm happy to hear there is even more to explore. I actually loved looking at the equipment and how it feels like a Tales game with more action. Also didn't even notice the skill tree or visual equipment until I played Yuito's story. So good!

I usually never get into demos because there's so little to do in them, but I've replayed this demo 4 times now just to try the combat more. I'm really excited for this!!

I remember seeing the first trailer during Microsoft's E3 conference and I was not all that interested. It reminded me to much of Code Vein but with physics, but the more I saw about it like how I found out the Tales team and some of the folks from Namco who helped in Smash was a part of it plus watching the gameplay. I was from least interested to one of my most hyped game of this year. Happy to hear a demo is coming.
Not sure if I'm doing a 1/1 comparison here. But the more I see of this game, the more I link it to Astral Chain. The combat is very unique, just like in Astral Chain. I loved AC so I know I'm going to love this game too!
Somewhere between saying it was a cross between being like Tales of Xillia/ Nier and feeling like Magneto I was sold.

Okay, I'm dying to learn more about the cosmetics. Is there a way to dress the female protag in something more like what Hanabi is wearing?
There are 3 attachment slots that can be filled with hats, masks, belts, glasses, and all kinds of other accessories. Then there are outfits as well and just from the footage, screenshots, and pre-order bonuses we've seen so far there's going to be a looooot of outfits. There looks to be tons of attachments, too. In the first 2 chapters there were (I think) 18 that you could craft and that list grows as you progress further into the game. You can also get attachments (and presumably outfits) as rewards for quests, bond events, etc
It should give us plenty to work with :)
@@JRPGGaming Thank you! Could you point me in the direction of where you saw alternate outfits? By chance were any of them midriff bearing for the main girl?
They're a bit all over the place at the moment. You'll be able to find some on the Scarlet Nexus twitter account, there was also a Playstation blog that showed off a couple, the preorder bonus costume set is shown on most sites where you can preorder the game. There were many more than these in the game, though but we'll have to wait for more gameplay footage (or until release) to see them all.
I can't remember if there were any midriff-bearing outfits for Kasane, I didn't really have a good look through them when I played. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to do pre-release coverage and I'll try and do an outfit showcase.
I passed on Biomutant to get Scarlet Nexus. It looks deeper and more complex and the combat looks more fun. Can't wait

Man I just preordered last night on sale for ps5 and didnt knew much about the game but just for your recomendation the expectation went to the roof!!! Great video, also this game looks a lot like astral chain wich is awesome.

I was pretty worried about this game because while the trailer was engaging, I still wasn't exactly sure what to make of everything. There was also the announcement that said character creation wasn't going to be a thing this time so that kind of bummed me out even more. Thanks for the review of the hands on impressions. This video definitely sold me on the game now and I am super excited for this to release!

the way the mc puts his sword away is cool
It's funny you say that because one of the early Brain Messages (like a text message system) between Kasane and Yuito is Kasane asking him why he uses a sword and his answer is pretty much "Because swords are cool!" lol.
I saw some more footage and I love that animation because of how causal it is. Yuito is basically just like 'F it, I have psychic powers' and chucks it over his shoulder. It takes something unnatural and makes it looks so human. It's really funny. :D
@@theoaremevano3227 Character gestures and conversations in this game just looks so good and realistic for a situation of a bunch of powered up people just trying to live their best life while fighting off alien creatures to have mankind live their best life.

What I've seen gameplay and story wise it looks like it's a love child between code vein and trails of Cold Steel and I'm all in for it

A demo for the Xbox comes out next Friday, and the PS demo comes out shortly after that.
At first I really thought that the game is another copy of vode vein but then I played the demo and now I'm fully invested.

I knew this was coming out soon but I wasnt going to look into it untill it was almost out since I didnt realaly care much and I hate hyping myself or being let down. Also I kinda felt like this game was going to be another Code Vein in which I put a lot of hopes and ended up being dissapointed simply because of my expectations.
But yea, im getting this, I informed myself in the last hour and it looks great.

Namco doesn't know what marketing is. Christ they are terrible about it.
Never finished a God Eater so I can't fully endorse them, but Code Vein is a Dark Souls like game that anyone can finish. It has great characters, a fulfilling story, and combat as deep as you want to make it. I highly recommend it 😊. And if you're on the fence it goes on sale frequently for about $12 on PSN & I think it still might be on game pass maybe 🤔? (people were talking about it a couple of months ago at least)

Looks like I'll be playing this instead of Mass Effect! Not only a fresh story but nice visuals and gameplay for a weeb like me.
I really wish I could fit this game in somewhere... but NGS is coming out the same month. XD Maybe I'll try that demo and see if it pulls me in so much that I HAVE to get it. I'm not digging the monsters' designs, but the characters got my attention.

Looking forward to this. I'm glad that the two different routes are much more different than Xillia's two routes. For Xillia, It was kinda boring basically playing the same game twice to see both routes. I was looking forward to the demo, but it seems to be Xbox Series X/S first, which I don't have.
The demo will be coming to the PS4/PS5 1 week after the Xbox :)

I'm confident I want to play this game, I've been really excited about it for a while. That said I also thought I would have a next gen console by now. I'm just going to play the demo for a tiny bit because I'm scared of how it will play on PS4. It was heavily marketed as a next gen game so I want to make sure I can actually enjoy it now, and not have to wait however long it takes for scalpers to get tired of being complete scum 🙃.
UE4 is a very scalable engine with full support for previous gen and current gen so hopefully they've managed to get a good balance of visuals and performance for the PS4/XB1 versions. We'll soon find out when the demo drops. :)
I wish you luck on your hunt for a next gen console, fingers crossed supply picks up sometime soon.
@@JRPGGaming Thanks, after about 3 months I've given up on fighting bots. In a year or 2, when I can go to a store I'll get one. Thankfully with the type of games I play (niche japanese titles), I don't see them abandoning PS4 for at least another 3-4 years.
Can you change the difficulty? Bcs that's a big point for me about getting the game
Yeap. There are 3 difficulties (easy, normal, hard) and you can freely change difficulty at any time.

Is the OST, from what you’ve heard so far, on an Ys8:LoD or P5 level?
The music is the one thing I didn't pay close attention to. I was a bit overwhelmed trying to take in everything I could that I just didn't stop moving for the most part.

This looks fantastic. The box art is awful and really doesn’t do the gameplay justice based on what you showed. This video instantly moved this way up in my list of games to get. Thanks for the preview coverage!
Yeah honestly whoever was marketing this game for the past few months did do right. It made the game look repetitive, bland, and just a copy of other things. Then I tried the demo and immediately got hooked to it and then saw this review and had to pre-order. Honestly feels like a Nier:Automata moment where people probably aren't going to talk crazy about it until a week after its release.

The combat looks similar to The Force Unleashed.
I don't know why, but I was totaly not interested in this game. That changed today when I finally tried the demo on PS5. Man the combat is so fun, love how you use telecinetics with R2 and even cooler L2. You have 2 characters with a bit different story, the world and enemies looks so beatuful. I'm buyng the game this friday for sure.
I hope this game will run without lag on Ps4, I can't play Sword Art Online Lycoris til this day without terrible lagging. I know these games have different producers but the publisher is the same.
Well to be fair, SAO Lycoris had pretty crappy coding. You're not the only one who dealt with terrible lagging on that game. The demo for this game was real smooth though so as long as they don't drop the ball one month before release (somehow), it'll be fine

Doubtful but probably possible. It's a hard thing to speculate about until we get the official Switch Pro announcement.

LOL the only thing.. I really want to buy it but at the same time if they pull a final fantasy 7 remake and give it out for free a year later LOL I think that would be really annoying I haven't paid full price for a game in a very long time because of that reason on top of games going on sale two months later besides giving it for free at some point in time we'll see I am playing the crap out of the demo though and it is a lot of fun it's just a matter of biting the bullet and paying the full price or waiting 2 months for the sale..

Is there separate party members for each protagonists
There will be overlap at times and later in the game both protags might get access to the full pool of characters but in the earlier chapters the party members available for each protagonist are mostly different (they are in different Platoons, after all).
@@JRPGGaming How does the dual protagonist stuff work? Is it that you choose one Protagonist at the start and play completely through the game once and then have the choice to do the same with the other protag, or do you switch between the characters chapter wise and their stories tie together at one point?

not the best looking bandai game out there in my opinion... But if the story is good I may give it a go once the price goes down... tales of arise is months away after all and I love my anime games! (Plus by the end of June I'll be finished replaying Nocturne I hope!)

How was the music in the preview version? That was the one thing I was kinda worried about based on the early trailers for the game. It might not be a turnoff (and if it is, I can turn them off ;) ) still, judging by how much you liked the combat and the rest of the game.
From playing the demo, I'd describe the soundtrack as very eclectic, in a good way, similar to Daemon X Machina, though obviously not the same types of music. What I mean is, you never know what the game's going to throw at you soundtrack wise. Kasane's half of the demo has some great saxophone music. The title screen music is extremely good too. Just keeps getting better as you listen to it. :D

Every trailer I've seen the enemies just kinda stand there and let them attack you. Did you feel challenged or was just able to hack thru?
If you watch the footage in this video you'll see enemies attacking & the player getting knocked around (and this is B-Roll footage provided by the developers lol). I don't think it's very common for a trailer for any game to show the player getting their ass kicked, they usually just try and show you the coolest things you can do.
To answer your question specifically: Yeah, I felt challenged on Normal difficulty (there is an Easy and Hard difficulty as well). Enemies have different behaviours so some are more dangerous than others. The bosses were all very tough, though. Learning their attack patterns is crucial.
The enemies in the demo are enough that you have to pay attention to them. The bulbous enemies shoot at you and if you're running at normal speed, they won't miss. They also have a problematic AOE+status attack that they'll use when you're close and that's what the fire/lightning weaknesses help with. They can't do that move if you hit them with that. The bigger, charging enemies are the most aggressive and require some strategy to take down safely. Enemies do have attacks they can start that they can't just be knocked out of.
Also, in the demo library, you can see footage of the fight between Kasane and Yuito. I expect you'll be dealing with not only the opposing main, but their team as well, and I expect other human opponents as villains in the game, looking at the trailers. That said, I do hope the Others continue to ramp up and offer some good 'dueling' enemies later on. Combat could be off the chain if they really delve into enemies that challenge the mechanics. :)
I was cautiously optimistic without knowing too much about Scarlet Nexus but your video has made this a day one purchase for me
