- The Ouroboros is an easily recognizable symbol, featuring either a snake or dragon consuming its own tail, thereby forming a circle. Yet where did this strange symbol come from and what does it represent?
The symbol emerged from ancient Egypt. It was seen by the ancient Egyptians as a way of indicating infinity, which is the idea that was carried through to the Greeks. Yet the Greeks saw it as a reflection of the eternal cycle of death and rebirth which is what the alchemists sought to be free from.
Since its appearance, the Ouroboros has gained a variety of interpretations, including modern interpretations signifying that the symbol represents the Antichrist, eternal love between two people and infinity.

Hey, you have forgotten to mention old Norse mythology. There the snake has got the name of Jörmundgandr and is considered to be coiled around Midgard, the realm of man thius providing a barrier to Utgard, the other realms. There are nine worlds, by the way.

i got my ouroboros tattoo shoot... near 5years ago, and I'm still reflecting on its meaning. I too was curious about it's definitive meaning in 21st century culture, but I've just reduced it down to something a little more personal:
Self-awareness, or consciousness, is a double-edged sword. If you're aware, you're also self-consuming.
Personal Belief: Since the snake is notoriously known as knowledge throughout history, and knowledge consumes itself, it's a NEVER ending cycle of hell.
The Flip: There is no such thing as hell, and these ancient calendars recognize the devil as a cohesive piece that holds things together.
Back to reality: It's all poetic and artistic allegories of the world, but being aware of this benefits our consciousness.
TDLR; Tried to summarize my personal belief, what that summary means to me, and how that summary reflects on society as a whole.

I would certainly lean towards the positive for this Egyptian Symbol.
The Ouroboros represents as you said death and rebirth. Never ending cycles. Reminds me of "as above so below." Where as the Creator could have been said to have created both specrums of pain and pleasure, fear and calm, sad and happy. Life shows us the worst so we can measure it against the best of forever in the afterlife. The elites use all media to teach the same gnostic beliefs and the "new age movement," (which is not a new) philopsophy, along with Buddhism and Hindusim. There are essentially two options: 1. god or the real God is a source energy and we are all divine by nature. We are fractalled fragments of God experiencing both sides to make whole dark and light. The other option 2. is The Abrahamic God of the Bible who is separate from Man making man in His image and being infinite came as a man to pay for mans sin as blood is spiritual currency and God had to come in Human form to teach and do His mission. God is too pure and is infinite so needed to come in a form all could understand and choose to accept or reject. God knew man would fall into sin and Lucifers plot all along but He wants man to choose evil or good Him or not. You guys choose. Many symbols derive from Sumarian/Egyptian beliefs. There are core elements that are cyclical in nature, such as reincarnation. The duality, yet, singularity of all things. The symbol isn't positive or negative, it's recursive. A natural expression of recursion is evidenced in fractals. I.e. the branch of a pine is a pine, and the branch of that pine is a pine... so it goes recursively.

I used to see it as a beautiful symbol of rebirth. Now all I see is the USA - we have food that makes us unhealthy which leads to medicines that supposedly help which leads us to the diet industry which leads us to the all natural industry only to find out that the fruits & vegetables are genetically engineered to “look bigger & nicer” for the public & to have a longer shelf life so even if I try to eat a non dairy (because of the hormones), vegan (so I don’t hurt animals, but also bc of the hormones injected into the animals and the other things injected into the meat to make it look nice & stay redder longer) diet I will still be unhealthy bc of everything I said above. So I go back to my doctor when something else happens. Our government (FDA) & Big Food has created a problem for multiple industries to “fix” only to send you back to square one. This is why we are always yo-yo dieting, by the way. 😑
And they only have to tell you that a food contains bioengineered ingredients if it is Not organic. If it is labeled organic they do not have to put it on the label. We live in a twisted world.

We eat, breath and everything that come out of all living things gets consumed. The planet consumes all and the planet is eating itself also. Wishing nothing but good for you.

Very cool! Ouroboros is applicible in so many different contexts! I kind of see it as a representation of a universal force of the unfolding of history. And by making authentic or groundbreaking decisions you end up turning those wheels of history and being on the better side of it. And as we can all see here, some people are caught up in ideas of the past... those people have no future.
