I firmly believe that Aladdin should have never been made into a live action movie strictly because it would step on Robin Williams' legacy. They should have just brushed up the animation and re-released the movie. This "live action movie" is going to be five million type of bullshit.

However, after seeing the latest trailer I think Will Smith won't be as bad as I thought. My concerns have turned towards Jafar now. He's too short and doesn't look conniving enough.
The movie is 5 years old!!! I'm relieved to say that this live-action version of the 1992 animated classic isn't horrible it's safe to say that some things work better hand-drawn, some things do still work in live-action the biggest worry I had was seeing Will Smith cast as the zany, lovable Genie that the late-Robin Williams perfectly embodied it's impossible to top such a memorable performance with the witty dialogue, the colorful effects, and the dozens of classic tunes to go with this version is just as watchable even though the animated one is far superior in so many ways still, Guy Ritchie succeeds with making the film look more lush and vibrant, assembling a worthy cast, and not completely tarnishing what was done before With Jafar they even give him some more depth making him someone coming from nothing stepping on others to get to his position there's improvements here like Iago isn't as annoying as before, Raja looks pretty realistic with the CGI, the costumes are much more detailed as well I'm actually glad this movie did a much better job with Princess Jasmine; not only does Naomi Scott have an incredible vocal range but she's a more active player especially when it comes to the politics of Agrabah her solo number is the standout in the entire soundtrack which I applaud because she's a woman who doesn't back down and remain silent like a majority of females Jasmine here might be royalty but she isn't 'free' to do what she pleases her handmaiden, Dhalia played by Nasim Pedrad is the other comic relief next to Smith as the Genie Smith manages to hold his own as the magical blue entity with eye-popping visuals and with his own funny line delivery Aladdin isn't as impactful here as was his animated counterpart and his vocal range could use some practice sure some beats are familiar here and they skip some more well-known portions of the previous film but it's still an enjoyable watch and like I said, Genie and Jasmine are the best performers in this one nobody gives handouts to those who beg, you're either the most powerful one in the room or you're nothing, nobody wants to be 2nd rate, the world is much bigger than maps and books, no matter how many wishes you make no amount of magic can make you happy, sometimes you just have to take a risk, if you don't have anything you have to act like you have everything, if someone already likes you then why make a change?, it’s the people that make a kingdom beautiful I was so worried at first this would be an utter disaster but Disney took a big risk and they didn't fail 100% in fact, you can watch both versions together and decide which is your favorite it's another worthy live-action remake

I saw Aladdin tonight and I thought Will Smith as Genie was amazingly perfect. I was a critic at first of Will Smith but never judge a book by it color. Trust me you gotta see this movie. It does not betray Robin Williams it makes you appreciate the people who play this role of Genie. True talent. Sorry for talking crap about you playing this role Will.

Just finished watching it with my two little sisters and it was worth it.
Genie's face doesnt fit the cgi body. They should have stick with the original face of genie. Disney people you still have time to fix this.

I firmly believe that Aladdin should have never been made into a live action movie strictly because it would step on Robin Williams' legacy. They should have just brushed up the animation and re-released the movie. This "live action movie" is going to be five million type of bullshit.

Should have casted Jim Carrey as the genie and made the CGI more the likeness of the actual cartoon rather than the actor's image. Love Will Smith but Disney messed up on this one.
The genie was animated to resemble Robin Williams, as are most animated characters and the people who voice them. It would be...unusual to see Robin Williams but hear Will Smith

However, after seeing the latest trailer I think Will Smith won't be as bad as I thought. My concerns have turned towards Jafar now. He's too short and doesn't look conniving enough.

I'm relieved to say that this live-action version of the 1992 animated classic isn't horrible
it's safe to say that some things work better hand-drawn, some things do still work in live-action
the biggest worry I had was seeing Will Smith cast as the zany, lovable Genie that the late-Robin Williams perfectly embodied
it's impossible to top such a memorable performance with the witty dialogue, the colorful effects, and the dozens of classic tunes to go with
this version is just as watchable even though the animated one is far superior in so many ways
still, Guy Ritchie succeeds with making the film look more lush and vibrant, assembling a worthy cast, and not completely tarnishing what was done before
With Jafar they even give him some more depth making him someone coming from nothing stepping on others to get to his position
there's improvements here like Iago isn't as annoying as before, Raja looks pretty realistic with the CGI, the costumes are much more detailed as well
I'm actually glad this movie did a much better job with Princess Jasmine; not only does Naomi Scott have an incredible vocal range but she's a more active player especially when it comes to the politics of Agrabah
her solo number is the standout in the entire soundtrack which I applaud because she's a woman who doesn't back down and remain silent like a majority of females
Jasmine here might be royalty but she isn't 'free' to do what she pleases
her handmaiden, Dhalia played by Nasim Pedrad is the other comic relief next to Smith as the Genie
Smith manages to hold his own as the magical blue entity with eye-popping visuals and with his own funny line delivery
Aladdin isn't as impactful here as was his animated counterpart and his vocal range could use some practice
sure some beats are familiar here and they skip some more well-known portions of the previous film but it's still an enjoyable watch
and like I said, Genie and Jasmine are the best performers in this one
nobody gives handouts to those who beg, you're either the most powerful one in the room or you're nothing, nobody wants to be 2nd rate, the world is much bigger than maps and books, no matter how many wishes you make no amount of magic can make you happy, sometimes you just have to take a risk, if you don't have anything you have to act like you have everything, if someone already likes you then why make a change?, it’s the people that make a kingdom beautiful
I was so worried at first this would be an utter disaster but Disney took a big risk and they didn't fail 100%
in fact, you can watch both versions together and decide which is your favorite
it's another worthy live-action remake
